The Dazed And Confused is note-for-note the live version from the original Song Remains the Same soundtrack--not the later remixed/remastered one that chose different performances from the 3-night run at MSG. Amazing!
Yes, got to see a great one b4 he gets old. Fantastic show, gave it his all! Love the Theremin work he does on various songs. He put a smile on London's face on this one!
He does a killer version with Eric Clapton of Further On Up the Road at The Royal Albert Hall. He requested Eric to play with him. Eric asked "which song" and Joe chose it. Icon with the Iconic!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡️This is killer!! 💥
I know, I’ve had this Album since it came out. A good friend turned me on too Joe. If you want to hear some great playing by him. Check out the song 3rd Degree. He’s playing one of Leslie West’s last albums. It’s all good brother
On this cover, Joe Bonamassa added riffs from dazed and confused (Zeppelin), he is also known to add in riffs from still of the night (Whitesnake). Honorable mention is his use of the theremin during his guitar solo. Thats where some of the ‘strange sounds’ are made. The theremin was also used in the Beach Boys’ song Good Vibrations. He’s just versatile 😊. Thanks for the reaction
Joe is one of the premier blues guitarists working today! As you can see his live shows are always killer. Wonderful transition into Led Zeppelin on this track; if you’re in the mood for another great guitarist check out Joe Satriani another unique and intense guitarist and band. Have a great weekend gentlemen 👋🏾🙏🏾✌🏾😊
I agree! The Surfing With The Alien album was one of 4 very strong albums that (I feel) broke new ground in 1988 AND have held up very nicely since. I was selling compact discs at the time and witnessed these 4 albums take on lives of their own as they broke and the bands toured tirelessly. Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction Living Colour - Vivid (edited from self titled) (I can’t wait for La and Che to discover this one!) Melissa Etheridge - Melissa Etheridge (her 12 string sometimes needs a cigarette when she finishes a song, especially Like The Way I Do and Somebody Bring Me Some Water. As a lyricist and a musician she strikes me as what we would have if Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan had had a kid together. 🔥
I’ve seen Joe live a half dozen times, and he always delivers. His touring band has to be one of the top lineups going these days. He has a backup singer that sounds like Aretha, a piano player that played with SRV and a drummer that was in the Letterman band for decades. Unfortunately he lost his bass player to cancer earlier this year (Michael Rhodes). He also features a horn section in the current road show, Seeing Joe live is nothing short of a beautiful wall of sound. Maybe look at doing his live performance of ‘Going Down or Angel Of Mercy - Live from the Greek Theater’.
I didn’t know Anton Fig plays live with Joe. In addition to being a terrific drummer he’s a funny guy-at least he was when he was with Letterman. Another Lerrermen band alum (Steve Jordan) took over timekeeping for Charlie Watts (after 59 years) in the Rolling Stones, hand picked for the job by Charlie himself before he died 2 years ago. Jordan was also the drummer who played with Neil Young on his 1989 explosive 🧨 SNL performance of Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World.
Cool show, it’s a pleasure to watch Joe Bonamassa play the guitar, listen to the sound of the guitar, pay attention to the drummer’s playing, he’s just fire, he played at the same tempo and didn’t stop, I mentally applaud the guys! 👏👏👏
There is a savage beast in every man, and when you hand Joe a guitar and put him on stage, it's war, and the beast in him comes forth. Great song, guys. Love your commentary. His guitar duel with Clapton at the Royal Alber Hall playing FURTHER ON UP THE ROAD is a It is an excellent video of Old School and New School Icons. NOTE: The Bass Player is killing it through the entire song (damn).
Privileged to see him live ..Tremendous . One hell of a guitarist and a great band . Checkout the Red Rocks(Muddy Wolf) show ..❤❤Happy weekend to you both ❤❤
I think Joe is one of those artists you need to see live (which I’ve not done, yet) to fully appreciate. The man is beast with a guitar! Excellent reaction guys, love you both for your commentary! Cheers…😊
I like Joe. He's a solid guitar player and he has a hell of a vintage guitar and vintage amp collection. He's got hundreds. There's some YT videos out there with him touring his collection that are pretty cool.
Loved Black Country Communion . Still got 3 cd’s . Those and some PBS shows at Albert Hall and I was a Bonomasser. He plays with everybody and doesn’t demand spotlight even though it usually finds him especially during solos.🎸🎸🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love Joe. He's fantastic. I remember walking into a cd/record store and the clerk was playing a song by him. I went to him and said "Who is that?" I need that album. He told me and I bought it on the spot after only hearing one song. Never regretted it. Still have it.
So happy to say I was there, the whole night was just awesome even though the only tickets we could get meant we were stood right at the top on the gods.
I saw this guy for the first time up in NH and was blown away. The audience was deeply into it. I wasn't a fan, I was brought there against my will. Big fan now!
Joe is great and always has top tier musicians in his band. For his more rock side check out the supergroup Black Country Communion with Joe Glenn Hughes Jason Bonham. They have their 5th album coming out in Feb 2024😊
lucky to see joe live a couple of times, great experience......love when joe teams up with beth hart, as an older guy i close my eyes and its the closest thing to jimi and janis....just a great blues/rock duo!!!
#GOATBluesRockPerformer #BonamassaIstheGOAT Tributes to all the Greats: Page, Bonham and JPJ ... even some EVH and we haven't even discussed his vocals and swag! I knew when I heard him as a 12 year old prodigy that he would someday be #BluesKing Thumbs up guys! I can see it on your faces...you have just been baptized by Joe B!
Joe playin tribute to the guitar legends B4 him! Love to see ya get back to some ZZ. So much more just got back from baby’s , drivin while blind , nasty dogs and funky kings. 🔥
I spent a lot of time with Joe's bassist here Carmine Rojas who played with Rod Stewart, David Bowie to name but a few. What a great band and performers. You won't meet a more talented or nicer guy than Carmine. :)
Several bands have used two drummers*, though JB usually only uses one. I think this was a special deal for the UK. *Allman Brothers Tedeschi/Trucks Band etc. Being a drummer, I generally think it's a waste of resources. Give me a keyboard any day!
A couple of clear references/shout outs by Joe in this one--starting with Jeff Beck's riff for Ain't Superstitious. Then he plays much of Jimmy Page's solo on "Dazed and Confused".
Joe B has done so much for the genre of blues with his "Keeping the Blues Alive" cruise each year. You might check out "Takin' the Hit Live from Rockpalast." One of the greatest displays of guitar I've ever heard.
Hey guys, great to see you. Finally Joe. More Joe please. By himself, and Beth Hart. You won't be disappointed !! Thank you. Stay well, and popping for fresh
I have seen Joe play several times and he is a beast!! He always surrounds himself with incredible musicians!! Sloe Gin is the closest thing he has ever had to being a “hit”.. Another great reaction guys and I must say I envy your lid collection!!!👏👏
Joe had a 3 night performance where every night was a different style. One night was acoustic blues which was fantastic and very stripped down. Mostly he plays slower songs than this but he likes to stretch his chops once in a while. He has a great guitar collection.
That was his first performance at Royal Albert Hall he turned 32 a couple days before this show. That's a complication of 2-3 (4lol) songs and it's what they ended show with. At this pt he'd been a working musician since 12 touring that summer with BBKing. Billy Gibbons had used a flying V for just got pd at one point. The bass player was Carmine Rojas! Think David Bowie among others. Great reaction! Joe has gotten better and better I don't see how but it's true! ❤ Edit: please react to "ill take care if you" beacon theater Joe and Beth Hart.
IMHO Joe is the greatest living guitar player in the world seen him 4 times always a treat every song fantstic I hope someday to catch him in concert with Beth Hart pairing made in heaven. They often plaay together. Ive also seen Beth and shes another force of nature
He can sing too! And doesn't sound a bit like his geeky speaking voice! However, every once in a while, his geekness comes out on stage, like throwing his shades into the audience. He revealed that the line about his "light sensitivity" is BS, and looked more like a geek (the real reason he wears them) in one move!😅
Band is going nuts here. Bass indeed is great and Joe does what he loves. I've Seen Joe live in my home country the Netherlands and that was awesome. Nice reaction guys. Rock on!
Check out the band Joe Bonamassa played with 10 or so years ago > " Black Country Communion " and the song "COLD" played live with Jason Bonham on drums and Glen Hughes on vocals , you will be blown away !
You gotta love his use of the theremin for feedback. Another great cover he does is Deep Purple "Lazy" Guitar is a Gibson Flying "V", looks like a '72 or '73 model.
Y'all are my favorite reaction channel. No fooling around with extravagant opening and you know music like chemists know elements. I watch a lot of your reactions sitting in my garagemahall and all I can do is like them.
That thing making the electronic noises is a theremin, the first ever all-electronic instrument. Jimmy Page used one in the psychedelic middle part of Whole Lotta Love, and always played it in concert too. Bonamassa's great and has incredible guitar collection. I'm sure that's some super rare vintage Gibson Flying V he's playing. When he's playing the real fast, fluid and complicated leads, he sounds so much like Eric Johnson. You guys should check out some of his stuff. Bonamassa supposedly apologizes to Eric about stealing his style.
