Mahalia Violet Barnes (born 12 July 1982) is an Australian singer, songwriter and the daughter of Scottish-Australian rock singer Jimmy Barnes ....who has also performed with Joe. Without hair fluffed out & stage makeup, Mahalia looks quite different from her on stage look with the other 2 backup singers.

Hi there girls. Glad you’ve now seen this one. It’s the first song where I’ve got to hear Joe sing, and he’s not bad. I’ve since heard it quite a lot. 😊 As for Mahalia Barnes, she did sing back up vocals for Joe on his studio album Blues of desperation. Then she did some tours with Joe. Joe had previously worked with Jimmy Barnes, her father. Donna and Lulu have seen him sing Stone Cold, and I know that Donna loved Jimmy. That video made me smile so much, cause Jimmy is also my favourite artist. Jimmy began in Cold Chisel as lead singer when he was 16 and a half. They disbanded in 1983, but they released another album with plenty of hits in 1984. That is also the year Jimmy went solo. Cold Chisel, or just Chisel, have reformed since for concerts. Looking forward to your deep dive into Mahalia and Jimmy. For Mahalia, check out this song with two other Aussie females, Kate Ceberano and Nikka Costa, called The Real Thing. It is a cover of a song by Russell Morris. She also sings Nasty Girl, but be warned, just like the title it is a little raunchy (might have to cover up Lulu’s ears).
