I'll tell you how Donegal win: they play with 22 players on the pitch at any one time. No one has bothered to count them. Shmart, shneaky move. Tis the extra players that do it.
Actually they (Donegal) did change the game....they made two all Ireland finals in three years and nearly made a third final in 2011 if they had pushed on against a ruffled Dublin team in the first half.....seismic for a county like Donegal and it gives hope to other counties.....systems win matches.....You see this year how sweeper keepers were a great addition.....Donegal's introduction of a blanket system forced a lot of counties to adopt long range shooting........Donegal made Jim Gavin go back to the drawing board and reinvent Dublin......which he did spectacularly!!!! The only downside to the blanket defence system was that it made teams play side to side football and nearly adopt a chess mentality.....Open honest Kerry style football gets you nowhere these days.....As Mayo found out to their cost sadly ....Tyrone had a system this year and it wore everyone down.......
Daniel Negus my point is i dont think kerry would have beaten dublin...but hey fair play to them many didnt think they could pull off beating donegal so i wouldnt want to take it away from them
mait o would've been a very difficult game for kerry. not sure if you follow soccer but atletico madrid have been the best team in the champions league in 2 of the last 3 years but lost 2 finals to real madrid, similar scenario
