Joe Cocker was and is the best Solo Singer I have ever in my 68 years of life to ever make an impact on my way of thinking of music in a different way then I did..He just could bring anything to life and on stage and you just fell in love with Joe Cocker..What a phenomenal man he was and talented..a genius ..RIP
Joe Cocker is a brilliant, briliant singer - but, you know, this is one of the best songs to have come out of the UK in the last 50 years - and it's virtually unknknown!
I remember getting this album from my older sister on my thirteenth birthday, I'd never even heard of him before, let alone his singing, but Annie was three years older than me, and when this came out in late '68 she was turning me on to something new daily, as any good hippie sister could in those daze; first cigarette (Camel non-filters), my first concert (Janis Joplin with Big Brother @ the Bushnell in Hartford), I think it was there, it might have been in New Haven), first joint (while my parents were out for dinner and the two of us were left @ home alone, watching the Ed Sullivan Show), and too many other things to list here, but all the best of times I do recall, some better than others, and it's been over thirty-five years since I've seen or been in touch with most of my family, three thousand miles also came between us, they are back still living in New England, I followed the countless other California dreamers in the early '70s and never went back. It's these old songs that take me back to what was home soooo long ago, and I thank God (or who ever, what ever) for these old songs, from a life time ago.
John Lonergan Almost same story. I left Alsace,France at 16, alone.Mid-60's,the California thing.Vietnam still got me,got hit only 16 days left.14 months in Balboa,Naval hospital, I was in 1/9 marines.Stayed in Mission beach, had some great times after Vietnam. PEACE BROTHER.
Get in touch with them. Send them an early Christmas card, just to say 'Thanks for being who you were in making me who I am.' Not a lot of trouble to do for some big heart warmth shared ( ,'
Just heard this song for the first time in the movie “The Wife” 🎥 and cannot believe I have never heard of this song before until this movie. So beautiful. 💔
Oh, babe you were born in the wrong era. Even though I’m old now. My era was great. I had this man, that I saw, Carlos Santana , Leon Russell, Beatles , was a different time. I’m sorry I’m old, but at the same time I wouldn’t give up the memories ❤️❤️❤️
this is Joe Cocker, as in Janis Joplin, you either liked them or you didn't, its a matter of taste......however the words were sung by both with a passion you won't hear in todays society......they are both wonderful vocalists in their own way........Eddie
Just LOVE this one by Joe, love all of them but this one brings lots of good and sad memories...thank you Joe, you know how to get in our hearts..love you Always ~~~
That glissando at 3:08 by one of the backup singers is so heartrendingly gorgeous, and a perfect addition to an incredible version of this classic of Mr, Cocker's. Nobody could cover a song like Joe.
I love Joe Cocker. It is sad, he passed away. May he rest in peace. I prayed and asked my Lord...What is the answer that, was on my heart. The first song was this. I know what it means...I am sorry, my friend...This song is for you...You know, who you are. :) I will be on journey that is going to be healing, but I will still check my google+ once a week. I have wonderful friends on my google+. I have a five year plan. I finally got my hubby, to see the mountain of pain that I stare at everyday because the man that tried to kill me, lives over the mountain...I am moving on...I am ecstatic my hubby finally saw the light. Twenty years is a fucking long ass time.
I was about fourteen at the time my brother gave me this album weed smoke a joint and listen to it every night before we went to bed one of the best albums he ever made if not the best RIP
Hey there, what'cha gonna do now You made yourself some new friends, knocking around But all those wild people, you know they make me nervous When the things you said cut me like a knife Do I still figure in your life Hey hey hey Do I still figure in your life Hey there, well I hardly even know your face It's got a brand new look about it that's hard to trace The tender way you look the way you're smiling, yeah To think I once took you for my wife Do I still figure in your life Hey hey hey Do I still figure in your life Hey there, well I hardly even know your face It's got a brand new look about it that's hard to trace The tender way you look the way you're smiling To think I once took you for my wife Do I still figure in your life Hey hey hey Do I still figure in your life
Lovely song. Is this the original version? Actually I think I found it - The Honeybus was the first time I heard it. (Don't worry, just talking to myself)
@InannaEres thanks i think sometimes i get the mix right ,still trying ,kept me from going crazy while off work ,maybe i should buy a guitar and learn too lol ..
THERE WAS this bigoted Myth, amongst alot of Black musicians, that said that no white man could sing the blues, that in fact, drove Johnny Winter into become a rock and roller. JOE COCKER, ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED THAT MYTH. AND SO DID CLAPTON.
