In his last year’s he was in a blessed marriage of no drugs and no drinking, just making music. He use the proceeds out of the money he earned to finance an orphanage. A man with a golden heart!
I'm glad he found grace in his later years and I believe anyone who does will be a giving and loving individual. Whatever God/higher power/meaning allows you to get there, I'm all for it!
@@soulshouter109 Perhaps some aspects of this performance were live, but I certainly find it difficult to play a bass when it's facing the wrong way! 😂
something else at least as good as original Beatles, I Am the Walrus by Spooky Tooth vocals by Mike Harrison - maybe obscure; Mike Harrison similar to Joe, strong raspy style
Hi Everyone, I have been listening to Joe Cocker way before Woodstock and I believe we all need to start pushing the music academy to induct Joe into the Hall of Fame,
I sure do miss the 70s and 80s. The music today is not even the same. Sometimes I wish I could find a time machine and go back in time. Life was much easier and everyone enjoyed life! Is this your favorite song?
@@derekkess4103 IMHO... much, if not MOST of what passes & is sold as "Music" today isn't even music when compared to what the TRULY GREAT Artists/Bands of the 60s/70s/80s produced. Frankly (with VERY FEW exceptions), I think many of the Superstar "singers" today can barely sing a note IN-KEY, if at all, without being electronically "Auto-tuned." (I could name them, but will be polite.) And its entirely possible I've blocked them out, but I also can't think of any successful "Bands" out there today that were formed after 1990. They may exist, but I don't recall even one. Only solo artists. Altho now that I think of it... IF they DO exist... I'm quite sure I don't want to know.🙏♥️🇺🇲✌
LYRICS/TESTO: She came in through the bathroom window Protected by a silver spoon But now she sucks her thumb and wanders By the banks of her own lagoon Didn't anybody tell her? Didn't anybody see? Sunday's on the phone to Monday Tuesday's on the phone to me She said she'd always been a dancer She worked at fifteen clubs a day And though she thought I knew the answer Well I knew what I could not say And so I quit the police department And got myself a steady job And though she tried her best to help me She could steal but she could not rob Didn't anybody tell her? Didn't anybody see? Sunday's on the phone to Monday Tuesday's on the phone to me Oh yeah...
@@garyknoke4543 ya where I come from I thought I was about the only one who had even heard heard of Joe cocker!!! Let alone really love his voice & all of his music. Glad to see there r a lot more of us us out there**** I'm not the only one! R.I.P. JOE
He definitely blows Ringos socks off on With a Little Help, and his take on The Letter is much more robust than the original ( by the Box Tops I believe). He does this great, but I like The Beatles equally. Same for Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood (by The Animals originally).
The beatles let cocker come into the studio while they were still recording abbey road to pick out songs he wanted to cover. They clearly had a lot of respect for him.
Saw this on tv and thought something not right so went to you tube to read the comments. Thanks for letting me know I wasn't seeing things. I thought maybe this was one of the protest about not wanting to play to recorded music
I agree Jeremy it's a loss to our culture and art for sure.Thank God for this format to not hear and see past music we enjoy but be able to talk about things surrounding the music as well.
Yes I agree too I miss him and he slipped away too soon and I got to say I love the Beatles but Joe cocker can sing that song better than the Beatles any day and on Sunday, four figure speech.
He wasn't humble when he was into the drugs and whisky he treated those that cared about him like dirt. Even Leon Russell who put the mad dogs and englishman band together to help Joe to pay his debts. In the last 10 to 15 years of his life he turned it around with the help of his wife. Even so he was a legend in his own life time his music will be around foe many decades to come.
Such a great version of this tune...there was something about this style of rock.....alot of it really drives along ....the bass in it just keeps ya foot tapping
I believe the vocals ARE "live" at the time, but the instruments were pre-taped right beforehand if memory serves. This is from the Hy Lit TV show in Phila where I was lucky enough to be on the crew.
Al Gardner I remember the Hy Lit show. I'm glad l ain't the only one who remembered that show. I first saw music videos Thunder Clap Newman- Sometimes in the air and Iron butterfly. used to be on channel 48 in Philadelphia in the late 60's.
I woke up singing this song. It's 1970 and my mom is cleaning and I am in the living room doing homework and my mom is listening to this happy and waiting for my dad to come home from a day of welding at the ship yard. Well at least I saw she was happy
I have enjoyed Joe Cocker s F ING rough voice and l thank the heavens l may listen to it recorded! What a wonderful collection of sounds that we all still can listen to now
This song will always be on my playlist. I sure do miss the 70's & 80's music, back when people had full bands, back up singers, horn section and sometimes full orchestra. They sounded just as good live as radio or album version. Those were the days of true musical talent. Is this your favorite song?
It is upsetting - to have grown up in this recent generation.. Too many of my fellow peers have no idea of what REAL music is. My father has shown me what real talent looks like. I'm sorry to admit that Joe was not one of the artists- but - Joe has become my all time favorite. Funny enough - "you are so beautiful" was my grandfathers song to my grandmother (on my moms side.) He died young. When my grandmother was failing, I dedicated that song to her, unbeknownst to me that he had attributed that song to her. Rest in Peace Joe. Thank you for your vigor.
As a musician I understand it but god forbid a television producer want the audience to hear a good version of the song. Live sound was and still is awful for the most part.
Picture this. Tina Turner farewell tour. Joe Cocker fronted for Tina. My daughter was 12. I demanded she go with me to the concert. She didn’t want to go. On hell no! She could thank me when she get older. She is 34 now and this is one of our favorite story’s of our journey through life. Oh, I had an extra ticket so I invited her young boyfriend to go with us. She was so pissed with me at that time. Lol. I had the time of my life. Great memories now! ☮️💜💋
