well I mean, the real war consisted of capturing saddam and stopping the weapon of mass destruction. So I guess it only lasted 21 days since the population of Iraq also wanted him out and greeded the soldiers with happiness....aand then bush decided to stay there to collect.....black gold, aaaand that is when sht went south
+customlegokarl it was a major part of it since their economy was based upon agriculture. Without slavery their economy would struggle. Lets not forget that the battle flag was also designed to defend slavery/segregation
+customlegokarl They actually did. You should read the Declaration of Causes of Seceding States. Each state clearly outlines why they seceded, and slavery was the number one reason.
DINDUNUFFIN it is fact, you just can't read so you'll never find out. And I'm not even a Liberal. So your "insult" is invalid, even if I were what does that have to do with anything? Like I said you know you're an idiot so you resort to petty name calling cause you don't have a better rebuttal. But that's due to your lack of education. So it's not 100% your fault.
6:22 The signs were always there. Rewatching most of the videos you notice more and more. Lily, Thank you for all your entertaining videos. Your true fans will always support you no matter what you go through.
Among other rights as well yes, but the average troop who fought couldn't afford slaves, the generals and upper class did, but the average Southern soldier fought for their heritage and state sovereignty
Yes but they kind of just forced it on everyone. I think thats a good thing but it was a law delegated by the states. The war would have been much smaller. Most white people didnt even own slaves.
@@floridaman-pt2bv its been 8 years but yeah i ment it as a joke, so i was pretty much saying that they are all acting very boring and humorless at this event
@@derangedtortoise909 Huh. I must be unedicated. I based my comment on the Cornerstone Speech and the Declarations of Secession of the states that seceded. Please point me in the right direction.
Apparently the only reading you have ever done on the civil war is a couple pages from a new age history book. Do some research, then come back when you know what you're talking about.
@@shaminayenajam6996 The dynamic of taxes was very different at the time. States had a lot more autonomy before 1860 and the South felt that the increasing federalization of the economy was a threat to their autonomy and self-derermined taxation. I could go on and on, but the TL;DR is that the North fought to free the slaves while the South fought for autonomy.
It really makes me mad that Civil War reenactors pretend like slavery wasn't the main reason for secession. Most confederate soldiers didn't own slaves, but this doesn't change the fact that all the states cited slavery as the reason for secession. Sorry for rant
Actually, it wasn't about the South's rights to own slaves. The North didn't care if the South owned slaves or not. It was about the slavery expanding west, as Northerners didn't think any non-white person should be in their new territory.
Sig Kimber Lincoln’s reason for the war was different than why the south was fighting. Lincoln was fighting to preserve the union. The south was fighting to preserve the practice of slavery because they felt that it was under attack after bleeding Kansas
Sig Kimber Yes a lot of southerners couldn’t afford slavery but as sad as it is slavery boosted the economy of the south regardless and ultimately helped everyone.
Sig Kimber he said MAIN reason. And it was the main reason for the confederates to want to succeed. They were making bank from slaves and the southern state were nervous that because the west was becoming mostly non slave states that they would be over powered. Slaves were a huge reason for the war and I don’t think we should just pretend they weren’t.
When I was a kid I had a classmate (middle school age I think) who was already into civil war re-enacting and he had no sense of humor whatsoever. This video only confirmed that it had nothing to do with age and solidified the stereotype for me.
and they didn't mind beating and whipping them at the request of the slave owners, even though they had originally aligned themselves with slaves in an attempted revolution.
+Lucy Vang yeah i though so too, haven't watched him in a few years. since he was in sweeden? when the chick said "I'love badge of shame, jew, jew should come and look it at it." been subed for 4 years... I'm amazed that he's still not past 300k, though I did stop watching so maybe he lost some of the magic?
The whole "it wasn't about slavery it's about states rights" was made up way later in the 1960s as a backlash to the civil rights movement. Republican politicians like Richard Nixon saw the anger towards african americans in the south and exploited that to gain support. Previously to that the southern states voted more often for democrats, you had them Southern Democrats and the Dixiecrats that were pro-slavery early, for Jim Crow and very opposed any rights to african americans. So both parties got blood on their hands! Ya'll need to pick up a history book once in a while! Damn!
+Jim Stewart Cohen Holy shit this is an interesting read. One of the first few sentences for Mississippi's declaration is "Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. "
It's considered romantic around the world. It celebrates loyalty, effort, and conviction over success. This is why something like Gone with the Wind is popular around the world, while nobody particularly cares about any Yankee themes.
Well, a direction cant own anything technically. But that statement is true, only about 13% some sources say 3% some say 20. But what I have found the most reliable sources stick between 12 and 14%. So let's say 13. There was a shit load of southerners in the war. A vast majority of which didn't own slaves. I'm just saying that the large majority didn't.
@@deaddad6310 I've read closer to 30 -ish % overall (a few states on the 50 % border) . As long as you only count free white people/families. The trick to get it down to singly % (or lower) is, apparently) to include everyone else as well.
+pidouble145 the north had slaves in the beginning and the south had completely abandoned slavery after England and France the south abandoned slavery as their base economy. Also the war was only about slavery after the emancipation proclamation because the North needed a cause to fight against.
this was great joe the ones where you troll the people are the best lmao (the episodes where he makes fun of things the people like but in a hilarious way)
I love how Southerners always claim the civil war was about state's rights but never tell you which state rights the North was challenging. Guess what, one of these rights was the right to decide if slavery was legal or not.
Here's a history lesson: The south separated from the union because Lincoln was elected. This was because that the south wanted to remain slave states while Lincoln wanted the USA to be free. The south then succeeded from the US and then attacked a Federal Fort because of this Lincoln believed this was an act of war. He even stated that the US wouldn't allow states to break laws. The original reason was slavery! Lincoln was a Republican yes but if you do your research Republicans back then were the Democrats of today time. In the early 1900s the names were swapped. Republicans were liberal and now they are conservative and Democrats were conservative but are now liberal all that changed were the names of the parties not the views. If Lincoln were to run in these times he would be a registered Democrat. Lincoln was liberal sur-fucking-prize!
To add on to this, read the declarations of secession. All of them (minus Georgia, but I may have missed that) mention slavery in one of the first few sentences.
Jake Allard wow that’s the most backward republican statement ever. First there were multiple party switches. The most recent took place around this time. The democrats were conservative and as the civil rights movement came around the liberal democrats started to dominate the party which led many liberals to vote democrat instead and many southern conservatives to vote republican. And Lincoln didn’t free the slaves simply because “he was a nice guy”. It was a wartime measure. It gave the army a massive boost in numbers along with many other benefits. Go open an actual book
