You can just imagine him lol. ''come on nigga that shit was weak, aint nobody got time for that nonsense, ye'all need to be honest with yourself's.........''. and it just wouldn't end until he drove everybody into the ground with brutal honesty.
It's important to note that Jimmy is a bit of a Netflix lackey these days so he can't really trash Netflix specials as much as he might like to. At 15:44 you can see him try and figure out the 'lets all be friends' angle.
They're just ignoring how a lot of the criticism of Nanette came from Hannah Gadsby's strong opinions on other people's comedy. Idk how any comedian can defend and respect a "comedian" who says “If your only responsibility is to make people laugh, then get off national television.” Would certainly make for an interesting Tough Crowd segment.
It’s weird because you can definitely be critical of comedy. But when you have a special that literally hits the bare minimum of what fans of comedy expect, that’s when it’s strange for you to be critical. Like her special was humorous at times. And that’s me being honest, and some (or most) would say that’s me being nice. But I’ll give credit she had bits that made me chuckle. But her critical “lens” is strange because the whole point of comics is to only make you laugh and most of all attempt to make you laugh at things you didn’t expect you’d laugh at. So yeah Hannah is strange
44:30 What is hilarious is that when SNL "stole" chip Jim's main argument about why he thought it was stolen was because of how they ended sentences with "or somethin''" Someone should edit that commentary on O&A with what he is saying here.
@@Slassh69x he doesn't have fuck you money. If he had fuck you money he could be as offensive as he wanted. That's the very definition of fuck you money, an amount of money that gives you the freedom to say fuck you to anyone. Sirius gives him just enough to keep him acting all slavey.
Hugh Munguss don’t forget his desire to rub elbows with A list celebrities. His honesty keeps him from selling out completely, but slows him to sit comfortably in the middle of lots of things.
CalvinSomething My guess is that because it’s comedians they are being turned away. Once again the left is ruining free speech because of hurt feelings. At least that’s my assumption and I could be wrong but my assumption is probably more correct than not.
The fact that Netflix put that unfunny Nanette special on & told Dice that they wouldn't give him a special baffles me. Too many unfunny people are getting comedy specials while a lot of funny comedians that have been around for a while get passed over.
TheRemixGeneration Man i will tell you, If he comes to The Netherlands i will be paying for it. I will even buy 2 tickets. 1 for myself and 1 for a friend.
Please do a Tough Crowd podcast. It's just like Impractical Jokers, I can watch them over and over and it never gets old. As long as Colin, Jim, Bob, and a rotation between Vos and Anthony is the cast. Also, dont forget about Chip. Fawk yeah.
I can't really comment on Nanette, because I didn't get beyond the 10 minute mark. It was the big 'recommended' thing to watch one day when I went to Netflix, so I gave it a whirl. If it had been pitched as monologue/one person show, it's highly likely I'd have given it more time. It's far more Spalding Gray than Louis CK. You shouldn't flag something as comedy that really isn't comedy. Even the venue, the big room at the Opera House, which I've played as an actor, is more a monologue room.
Sam makes a really good point. You don’t become a stand up in hopes of being more responsible, you become a stand up to remain as much as a child as you can. Because it’s fun. Comedy is all about having as much fun as you can. And that’s one of the reasons we see the comedy spectrum getting so wide, because there’s so many ways to have fun, so many ways you can laugh. The goal is finding your place within said spectrum. Hannah is odd to think that comics have the power to change political tides. LOL we make jokes and make fun of things. Dunno what job she thinks comedians are suppose to do? Lmao making people laugh is the basically THE FUCKING JOB! And calling out the bullshit in the world. But to think we can change people minds on politics dunno what she’s smoking
Nanette was not funny in the slightest. It. It bothered me that it was labeled as comedy. I’m still waiting for the laughs to catch up. Label it as an inspirational story then fine I have no issue.
John Notmylastname exactly, it was a one person show not comedy to me. If you aren’t self deprecating then you don’t have a sense of humor to me. Zero punchlines like Sam said. Could you imagine Jim reviewing this even 5 years ago?
Australian stand up is very different to American stand up. In Australia you have to be likable or self deprecating or overly friendly and try and win people over and pretend to be warmer than you actually are. Whereas in America you have way more freedom to be who you are and be bold and outrageous. There aren't alot of avenues for stand up in Australia and being on broadcast TV in a real comedy festival is very unlikely unless you basically shape yourself into a mold like the other comedians.
Wow that sounds awful, I'm Canadian so I can somewhat relate to that way of thinking, Canadian culture is like that & certainly what's on Domestic TV is like that, but because all the major American comedians come over here frequently and the biggest Canadian comedians are big because they're successful in the US (except Russell Peters, but he's internationally famous), our comedy scene is heavily influenced by american comedy, although all comedy nowadays is being co-opted by SJW culture, which is attacking all forms of art.
Patrice looking down from heaven happy that he is dead because these sissies wont acknowledge how unfunny that guy Hannah Gadsby is. Look up “When did women need to be funny” for old O&A w/ Patrice critiquing women comics.
What the fuck happened to Lil Yimmy? I’m makes me sad to see that all the PC bullshit got to him. I thought he would eventually go down in flames like Anthony and we’d applaud him for it.
I don't like the idea of condemning self deprecating humor because some enlightened comics *will* think it's bad and it's so not!! Hannah can choose her path but she shouldn't be given a platform to tell others to choose that same path .Please please don't redefine comedy.
Dude at the end is accusing Jim of cryptomnesia. Ridiculous. Cryptomnesia is an unconscious process. Dane Cook, Leary, Mencia, not cryptomnesia. Theft.
It wasn't fucking funny. Inspirational with some side humor, but I wouldn't call it comedy. I did laugh at the part where she talked about being abused because I thought the guy could have chosen someone better looking.
Jimmy's turning into Bill Burr. Used to be knock down dragout ridiculously funny, but is now being cucked by the entertainment industry. Patrice should be happy hes not around to see this happen to his friends.
