#nba #basketball #celtics Joe Mazzulla was in-studio with Zolak and Bertrand, and the coach discussed the state of the Celtics, along with how the team is handling the pressure of the playoffs.
Man, if we can just keep Brad and Joe together for the next 10 years or so......this team is going to do great things. Best coach, GM combo in town by a mile.
@@THECHIEF-1981 someone agrees with me and I'm just nervous and scared of our playoff run starting next Saturday I mean we don't have Smart no more to brick shots which is good, and glad Jrue is here, and also he has championship experience
@tylerriley2587 really all Joe needs to do is get the maximum potential from this incredible team and then see from there because I don't know the financial rules of how long this current team can stay together but the true test of joe will be when we don't have the best 6 man group of any team
Don’t really understand all the hate for Joe, sure he could have coached better last year but considering the situation he was thrust into i think he did an excellent job. This year I think he has truly elevated him self to a top 10 coach. We haven’t had a team this good since 08’ with the Fraud Doc leading us I have more faith in joe now than i did with doc then☘️☘️☘️
Just needs to be better at end game situations...can't always just turn to iso ball and have tatum dribble the clock out to end up going 1 on 3 and jacking up a terrible shot with 2 seconds left.
@andrewsullivan3180 I like Mazzulla alot overall. But your right the end game ISO ball chucking up as time expires is so frustrating. Missing a game winner. Hey its a bummer. But missing it because you had no offensive movement and tatum has to jack up a 32 foot 3 jumping to the side being absolutely suffocated by the defense and leaving no time left for rebounds, tip ins, or extending with fouls is just terrible.
Yes I think he did a great job for the situation but also he was handed the keys to a Ferrari. So that makes things a bit more challenging to differentiate his actual contributions from the insane amount of talent he has on his roster. When he makes mistakes they are glaring because the team is usually a juggernaut that plays at a high level. Also the volume of 3 point shooting and how they live and die by that stat line makes them one dimensional at times and it is an obvious team philosophy. They have way too much talent to be 1 dimensional on offense. They are capable of anything and everything if they want….so sometimes it’s aggravating when they don’t take it to the hoop. Granted they are literally unbeatable when the 3 is falling….I still don’t trust Joe 100% but I hope he continues to improve and helps bring home banner 18.
So it's not the fear no hatred(sorry) for losing that is the way seen to mastery, but the total embrace of the act - someone has to win and someone has to lose. What's meaningful as a conscious participant is how do you negotiate that as an on going act(seeing the field - winning and losing - in total). I like him.
I'm sorry ya'll but I see all these hopeful positive comments and I just can't feel optimistic about this teams playoff run. I'm a Celtics fan.. but.. Haven't any of you seen the pinpoint precision execution of Denver down the stretch of close games. They're automatic. They know exactly what they're doing (on both ends of the floor), And each player knows their position as a part of the machine. Very little breakdown. Mazzula has got to excel at late execution and play calling as do the players. So often this team looks lost at the end of close games, and all the cutting and intuitive ball movement stops. This is called an IQ problem... Both coach and team. Also, Derrick White and JB are gonna have to be your closers and clutch time go to guys. JT is not built for it. I somehow hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. And this needs to be fixed and mastered for both the ECF and Finals rounds. Remember Denver is a High IQ machine. They get better as games get tighter. Joe utilize the team more.. Iso ain't gonna work. Obviously
Bro, the difference between Denver and Boston is not that big... They have been together as a core group way longer than the Celtics, of course everyone knows where to be in late game situations. This is Boston's first year with Drew and Kristaps and Derrick white as a starter. The role players are also different. Even through all this the team has the best record in the NBA by a mile. I'm sorry to break it to you, but Tatum will be our closer in clutch time because he is our best player. Anyways, stop being a weirdo and enjoy the process. We have a great opportunity to win banner 18, but like everything in life, nothing is guaranteed.
Pace of play, fouls, free throws, don’t stem from perimeter attempts and drive and kicks. They know how to play that style well because they learned it in highschool. Also, shooting more 3’s than the Warriors (whom have a couple of the best shooters of all time) just can’t be right.
Tatum in the playoffs looks like the Monstars stole his talent. Teach Tatum how to handle that pressure. Worst chokes in Celtics history the last 3 years ..
@@mattpassos5689that’s on Tatum. He waits too long a lot of times and he doesn’t follow the play because they blitz him. Especially if we are down you gotta go early to get a second chance if you miss. When we are tied its smart to take the last shot of course but it doesn’t have to literally be a buzzer beater. Leaving 2 seconds on the clock is ok, 85% chance they’re not even getting the shot off
He told you why all season you just gotta listen. He wants them working on things in game that they aren’t great at. The tatum late gsme iso is one of those things. We saw them close with kp and white early in the season with great success. We saw JB mid season. All those things work, but Joe also understands JT has the bug jest ceiling there and that JT needs to recognize certain aspects of game management better. You’ll see all of the above in the playoffs. It’s gonna be more matchup based than anything else. He also told us that before the season.
