/ jesus_villarreal75 Brenda Fricker presents Joe Pesci the Oscar® for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in "Goodfellas" at the 63rd Academy Awards® in 1991. It really wasn't a contest that year...
He had prepared 10 minutes speech by the way. But right before going to the stage he was told he was not allowed to use any swear words. So he had to shorten it to 2 seconds.
I love him as Leo Getz in Lethal Weapon 2-4, in addition to his gangster films. His range is incredible. So funny seeing him as a dweeb getting pushed around in the Lethal Weapons, and then as a psycho killer in Goodfellas.
One of the most deserved Oscars I've ever seen. In my opinion Goodfellas is the greatest movie ever made and Joe Pesci is a huge part of why it's so good
I agree 100%. I love Goodfellas so much, it gets better every time I watch it. It should’ve won all the Oscars especially Best Picture. I think Ray should’ve been nominated for Best Actor. He gives a brilliant performance. Love Goodfellas so much, my favorite movie by far
No it probably just another case of the show's lazy editor not wanting to have to edit like 23 f bombs from one of Joe's scenes . And that's basically why he won this for his rants about people telling him to go get his f****** shine box!!! See, it's that simple!!!!!
I think the video uploader has pulled the wool over your eyes and trolled you. He inserted that clip from Home Alone there and Joe Pesci's speech has been edited and cut to the last 5 seconds. Are you guys really this dumb? I suppose the subtitles on Dancing With Wolves are real too eh?
Anyone who has followed Pesci’s career over the years realizes he’s not a ‘hey, look at me’ type of celebrity. As an actor, he just does the job and goes home. And the job he does has kept me thoroughly entertained for over 30 years, Cent’anni paisano.
What does cent'anni paisano mean? I know paisano means like comrade, countrymen, or just pal. But what does the phrase cent'anni paisano mean? Thanks☺️
@@253jacksonrhoads1 yeah and the subtitles on the dances with wolves were on there too were they 🤦🏻♂️. If you had of seen it live you’d of seen the scene ‘funny how scene’ 🤡
I think the lady who announced the actors costarred with him in home alone lost in New York. She was the pigeon lady in Central Park that befriends kevin.
This is why this man is beloved and a total class act. Takes the statue and says “My privilege. Thank you.” And walks off. No long speech, no thanking mom, neighbors, the studio and their uncle, no emotional hi-jinks, and stomach churning struggle stories. Just a simple thank you and walks off. Awesome ! If this is how Oscars are run, it would be a 30 minute show. That’s probably why they’ve not nominated him again.
ya boi I would love it if he wins ! He was spectacular in the Irishman. Of course it also gives us all a chance to see him say “Thank You” and walk off again !! That would be classic Pesci.
@@samnectar you are more naive than an 8 year old schoolgirl. the award is a commodity that is most times bought by different means and very rarely earned. the award show is a commodity just as well. with all the bs you believe in like a silly little girl these people don't even have to sell it to you. you have made their job easy.
People are talking about how short the speech was, but to me this highlights how humble of a guy he is. Whereas many were happy to spend eight years talking about every moment of their life was leading to that moment, he just said "thank you" and walked off. He's notoriously a very chill and very nice dude which is easy to get lost among how many foul mouthed gangsters he plays in movies, so this is so refreshing to see. (also watch the The Irishman roundtable. He has the least to say and is just happy to listen to everyone tell their stories. Class guy.)
An amazingly talented actor who uses his life's experiences and iconic voice with great effect, JFK and Goodfellas are prime examples of his acting skills.
They showed Home Alone instead of the movie he was nominated for. You could see him moving his head left and right with a look of grief. How could Hollywood mess that up?
Looking at them back then all I could think is.. wow they were just kids here... just getting their feet wet and watching one of the greats still in his prime.
Don't know why but this clip showed up in my feed in 2023 & its still the best. No other awards speech can even come closer to it. 32 years & still going strong !!!
Thought I was tripping this whole video. I see Pesci mentioned in translation in Dances w w . And then Home Alone shown in clip instead of Gooffellas. I thought I was in Bizzaro world
First I have shared this with friends and come back to it often as an example of how you give a truly classy acceptance. Short, genuine, to the point. Second, Did anyone actually see the oscars that year and can confirm they really did this swapping of movie clips because to show a whole other movie is ridiculous the “funny how” scene could have easily been edited to be acceptable for a public program. They would have been better off not showing any clip at all. Third, Pesci was also fantastic in Home Alone. That is not untrue.
whoever messed with Goodfellas clip should remember the brief visit Stacks had from Tommy-Pesci (and Carbone-Sivero) for the mess he did with the heist van at the Lufthansa
