Yea people that think video games give real life influences are crazy to me if that was the case we would have millions of people just randomly stealing cars lol
It took THOUSANDS of people to make Red Dead Redemption 2. Once you play through it, you understand why. The greatest game ever made, without question.
@@atgwiuz For me it depends what angle you're looking at it from, gameplay wise Elden Ring wins but in terms of narrative and immersion rdr2 clears Elden Ring.
The details, the depth, the Easter eggs, the amount of effort the devs put in for us to enjoy. I feel like 50$ is a steal for such a life changing game. Masterpiece. Thank you Rockstar. It wasn’t just a game. It was a story, an experience. And we learned many lessons from it.
I got my red dead for like 30 bucks back when it came out lol. I was in middle school and this kid didn’t want it and tried to give it to me for 40 and I brought it down to 30(it was retailing for 60 at that time)
@@humzarehman8671 Damn Rockstar lol. I was doing the same thing when GTA5 came out and had to get rid of my Xbox because it was just too tempting having it around. About to get rid of another one for my own good😉👍
I just got to that point and I cried, I cried more times during this game then during any other. The ride back to camp to confort Micah and the song plays really got to me.
@@war_designer8763 people bitch about video games making people violent but don't consider the compassion we show towards others the game when we play it with multiplayer or even singleplayer
They're not voice actors it was motion capture so by saying voice acting you're essentially undermining their work. All the characters mannerisms and facial expressions are the actual actors themselves.
It has a great morality incentive. People just think its bad for people but its actually good for teaching history and helping develop peoples character especially in the story mode.
I've been playing games ever since the late 90s when I was a kid. Played many great games like Chrono Trigger, Zelda, Super Mario, etc. But RDR2 has to be the best game I've ever played in my life. No other game even today is as feature rich as RDR2 is, and not to mention the top notch story that had me crying in the end. Simply a Masterpiece. God of War winning the GOTY award in 2018 was nothing short of a robbery.
Bruh. I just played it yesterday after playing starfield and asked myself how is this game so freaking good that you can sell this shit again in the market and people would buy it for retail thats how good rdr2 is.
GOW4 is another one of my all time favorites and it is a fantastic game, but I agree, RDR2 is on a whole other level. There's no game that can compare to it
@@jasoncarroll4463 I just started playing RDR2 a week ago, and it's amazing. The only game I can say is similar in scale would be Balder's Gate 3 and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in terms of freedom and things you can do, but in their own category.
@Judge Mortis bill that's a child, it's time to go to the POLICE! _dont touch mah but too horde heheheh blelelelelele_ Credit: sorenova or something I forgot how to spell his name
Given the scale, richness and interconnectedness of the world we already able to create in a masterful game like RDR2, on limited power commercially available PC hardware TODAY... imagine the kind of experience they will be creating 20 - 30 years down the road. The gap between 1990's Street Fighter 2 and Wing Commander to 2020 RDR2 is staggering already. The maturing of VR combined with game engines like Unreal Engine 5 and its successors will be drastic. There will be a point where a game world will be indistinguishable from reality and at that point you have to ask yourself if that hasn't already happened in our base reality xD
@@hmksensei4708if they do something similar to grand theft auto 4 it can be a great game, but if they go for the GTA 5 type of story is going to be just good(I'm not referring to graphics and that kind of stuff, its obvious it might get better on that end)
Video games don't make people violent because of violence; it's that they change people by making them more compulsive, self-centered, unempathetic, and less productive. A model citizen doesn't become worse with gaming in moderation, just as a mild smoking habit would not change them. The people who are most affected are those who have past trauma or current difficulties that turn to it as a coping mechanism where the unhealthy habits develop.
@@BReed-gk6gs I love shooting their horses in the head while they're moving really fast. Sometimes the fall kills the rider, sometimes it just knocks him out.
This game was amazing in so many ways. You can get so lost playing it, and it's massive. Truly one of my favorite games ever, and of the saddest games as well. What happens to Arthur, it makes you truly feel awful, and start to think about mortality more with your own life. You talk to a nun about your character's mortality, and it's absolutely heartbreaking to see the collapse of the gang and Arthur's ending that you know will happen. As another RU-vidr said, he might be the best fictional character ever. You believe he's a real man, and it really makes you think.
He has had a incredibly busy schedule ever since the UFC blew up and got huge. This man is literally a tv personality and runs his own podcast which is very successful, does tons of traveling for promotions and shows. Dude is way too busy for video games.
I’m an almost 43yo woman, hadn’t gamed since N64 days. 39yo me gets introduced to RDR2 story mode 🤯 It was brilliant. Never thought I could feel love for a fictional man and his horse until I was a blubbering emotional wreck huddled on my couch. Admittedly it took me a while to be able to watch Arthur skin an animal 🤔 Was also kinda weird to be the unlikely “phone a friend” for anything rdr2 related 😂 achievement unlocked 🤘
I'm glad you experienced and enjoyed that Masterpiece of a game. I remember when I first played I just sat there for like 15 minutes enjoying the view of the mountains. Just so breathtaking what they accomplished with this game.
budibausto so now we need to censor history just because a few loud sensitive people can’t handle it? Unfortunately those are the people that stand out, but there were worse things that happened than what’s shown in this game. Get over yourselves
It’s my favorite game of all time, and makes me just think of what Rockstar can do with GTA 6, considering that GTA 5 was built for the 360 and PS3. It’s going to be fucking insane.
I got 100% on the game a few years ago and since December of 2021 I hadn’t played the game. I booted it up yesterday and I immediately got sucked back into it again. The amount of content the game has that I haven’t even discovered yet even after 100%ing the game is insane.
@@muddyfiftysix Honestly I just started around new havoner and worked my way east till I got them all. I did run into a couple of them as Arthur tho in the story so I didn’t have to find all of them from scratch.
@@badmanpersona5738 I think the guy meant that Joe is discussing this game as if killing people and doing other horrible things are the only options there. Red Dead Redemption 2 and 1 are so much bigger than that and the argument is that they should not be famous for just that violence. Have you played those games?
@@MonsieurTerrorizer not exactly, because Joe is more or less open minded regarding a lot of topics, especially controversial ones. It’s just that Joe is quite biased when it comes to video games.
@Sam Williams and theres worse things that are happening in the game, and these women's ego are so big, that thats all they take away from the game, "you can beat women" ilke seriously, its just a game, in Fable games I sacrificed a woman to some evil spirits so my character wouldnt get old
I’m 33 almost 34, I’ve been a gamer since the age of 5.....I have NEVER had ANY urge to commit violence against anyone, never had an urge to rob a bank/store, never had an urge to beat up a hooker to get my money back after she services me, never had an urge to even hunt. Anyone who says video games are causing our problems is too intellectually lazy to do any real research and only points the finger to games bc they are scared and confused by them.
Same im 36 and it was fun doing that stuff with open world games starting with gta on ps2...but honestly with games like rdr2 being so realistic looking and even watch dogs 2 I never cared to do something that i morally wouldn't do unless the mission called for it...as far as assaulting and killing...shit I get shook when taking my time pickpocketting while the gang yells lets go dammit!...i legit feel panic like oh shit they r going to get mad but one more pickpocket lmao
When joe talks about being able to feed people to alligators or kill people, he makes it seem like thats why people play it. Most people played rdr2 for the story and beautiful scenery and not to fill some murder fantasy
Seriously, my motives for playing red dead isn’t to vicariously live out some psychopathic murder fantasy, definitely not. Most people aren’t bloodthirsty psychopaths, we just enjoy gaming. I play it because it’s an absolute masterpiece, beautiful game with great story, great characters, utterly immersive and enthralling. I don’t think i’ve ever cried from a video game, but red dead 2 turned me into a bitch. The game is so incredibly full of detail, committing heinous acts is only a small part of the game and they’re mostly optional, during the story Arthur does not want to kill in cold blood. And I can’t remember if they mentioned the honor system or not, rd2 gives the player lots of opportunities to do honorable acts and do good things. They overlook the parts where you do kind favors for people, you go out of your way and save peoples lives even people you don’t know. They overlook the part where Arthur finds Edith Downes and apologizes for what happened, then insists they take money and get out of there. The game is so much more than grand theft horse.
He isn't clueless... Just as (un or in)formed as he claims on anything else. Joe says he's pissed away hours playing videogames and loves em. They're just pointless to him.
skajohncarter Do you know where clueless gamer is from? It’s from conan buddy. That’s just the name of the series. Would be fun to see joe do something similar
I shot a guy in the head with a shotgun but I was too far away for it to kill him so he gets up to run and tell on me so I put my gun away and pressed defuse and Arthur says "Calm down I was just kiddin" lol.
@@serbonkers4130 My only complaint is how broken the bounty system is. If I antagonise someone and they get all pissed off and try to fight me or pull a gun I get in trouble for defending myself.
@@wighensakgr I've tested it and it's broken man. A dude was punching me so I ran to the sheriffs office and guy was hitting me right in front of them and they did nothing. I take one swing and have the whole town after me. Also some random events in town like that duel you get challenged to in Valentine gets you wanted if you win. It's strange but I'm already bored of rdr2 honestly. Already done everything I can possibly do.
Underrated comment We need to get this man to a press conference We need to shed light on this guy instead of the cocksuckers known as politician he's got great potentials
RDR2 is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a true West World experience. I don't think I've ever felt more immersed in a world and setting than I have playing RDR2. The complexities of the world and the astronomical amount of choices a player has gives the game a kind of emergent narrative I simply haven't experienced anywhere else. I've spent entire days just foraging and hunting in the wilderness and came out of it with a handful of experiences and events that I couldn't replicate again even I wanted to, and that's something really special.
@@munikan5349 there won’t be a rdr3 unless they go a different route with gangs and the story because rdr2 was the the origin story of the van der linde gang and before rdr2 it was just arthur, dutch, and hosea
@@rotoocold3444 no it's the downfall of the gang not the start Susan and many of the other characters were around months/years before the blackwater job people like Charles and Micah had only been around for 6 months or so before the job but others were around for a while
Easily a top 3 game of all time. Great story writing, solid characters , cutting edge graphics and just all around amazing gameplay. You cowpokes agree :D
Actually even with all the glitches ,woke crap and things that were just plain idiotic in it, I still enjoy the game and am doing another play through now.
RDR2 actually is surprisingly political correct in terms of story. It’s just that the mechanics of the game allows players to do certain horrible things.
Some people don't understand the difference between deliberately designing a part of their game to do "x", and designing a game whose mechanics allows you to do "x"
Rockstar did make that mission in GTA 5 though where you literally have to torture somebody. The point is though, it's not real, it's just pixels on a screen.
That is true, and I get the Ledger Joker reference there too. The disturbing thing is that women voting is now perceived by many guys as a negative, due to all this feminist shenanigans. Whereas equality should be embraced, feminism is about female superiority, coupled with a we don't need men attitude. The feminist propaganda only invokes hostilities, and does nothing to better relationships between the two sexes. There's a lot of errors out there. Sometimes people will heavily rebel against one error, and end up embracing another.
The guy in the flannel has a “smoker mom” face (imagine him with long hair smoking 305’s). Joe just needs a joint in his hand and and a very choppy goatee, and a more aggressive voice.
Roger Clarke didn't voice Arthur, he PLAYED Arthur. He did the motion capture and everything. I met him in 2019 and I said "Well time to go home and control you" and he said "I've actually never heard that before, you're all right boah" When you walk into my apartment the first thing you see is my signed poster.
Doing my ~7th playthrough now and found 2 new camp missions I've never seen before, but indeed Rockstar went crazy with this game, I doubt any studio can reach this level of details within next 10 years
The scenery alone is amazing. I've been in the mountains of Colorado and lots of ghost towns and railroads, etc. Many of you have seen the same. It's amazing how realistic RDR2 is, and beautiful.
I love how many of these things are new to Joe. Guest: The Sun comes up in the morning. Joe: Wow! and it shines and stuff? Guest: Yeah, it's pretty bright in the morning. Joe: And it burns you alive, right? Guest: No, no, it's just warm. Joe: Amazing ... Wow ...
It's *weird* that people would invest so much outrage into someone beating up an NPC, but ignore how much the game actually touches on suffrage, women's rights, etc. Female independence actually ends up being a key component of the story, but alas.
@@serbonkers4130 R* will have the snowflakes and also the dumb fuck hillbilly Trump supporters like they always do. They don't discriminate. They are an equal opportunity game company.
Tre Nyte and bows with all different types of arrows and fishing and boat fishing and legendary animals where you have to track there dung and broken twigs etc
When I started playing Red Dead 2 I genuinely couldn't stop. I spent like 14 hours a day playing it and I just enjoyed riding my horse and feeling like the rest of the gang was my actual family. The game made me feel so emotional in some parts. And also I started playing the game like 4 weeks ago and I'm so glad it had never been spoiled for me after all those years of it being out. I had never watched any gameplay or anything. I went in blind and it was just such a great experience. I felt a sense of euphoria just riding around on my horse and even just doing little things. The game is so immersive and I'm so glad I played it.
RDR2 was a way to express yourself. I went in convinced I'd be a hardass gunslinger without a cause beyond living another day. I came out rescuing star crossed lovers from a family feud, meeting a nun who made me cry and lament over how Arthur just never forgave himself for a lot of things, and lastly: I loved my horse, the scene with Arthur soothing her as she died. Llamrei, the rare white Arabian. I can't do a second playthrough to this day. There were so many epic moments, so many laughs and so many tears. Arthur Morgan and John Marston are both well written. They epitomize heroism and badassery.
I started playing this game last year, and have put over 350hrs thus far, and only on ch4. because there is just SO MUCH TO DO BESIDES THE STORY!! From fishing/hunting to bonding with animals to just exploring every cranny and nook of this massive truly open world! Cant get enough!!
I have been playing the game for almost 5 years. Just recently Im taking about a month ago I was in San Denis and I saw some writing on the wall. I looked up what it meant and when I found out what it meant I spent HOURS searching for more clues until finally at the end I found Nosferatu in an alley way sucking someone’s blood. I have been playing this game for YEARS with countless hours invested and I just found out about this little puzzle that had this giant backstory that is hidden in the game and most people playing the game will never encounter it. There are hundreds of interactions like this. The fact it only took them 7 years to make this game is amazing. It is a Fucking masterpiece and it is without a doubt one of if not the greatest game of all time and I cannot wait to see what they do with GTA 6
Well, keep in mind, voice lines are different to mo-cap. The mo-cap acting took its own period of time, but all the random voice lines probably did take days.
The thing that makes this game stand out from most (bar perhaps gta 5),is the fact that the npcs all go about their own lives, if you stand by and watch them all, its as if the whole city (st Denis) is a real functioning city, the whole place is bursting with life. The game is so immersive. Credit to rockstar, the love and care that went into this, and the story is damn good also, and with a character like Arthur Morgan, it sucks you In even more. I've played both gta 5 and rdr2, like most I imagine, but for me, rdr2 is more then just game.
Man, on my first playthrough, I had a horse that I tried to keep for the whole game. And I remember, I jumped from a bridge once, and my horse was almost dead, and I was in the middle of nowhere, so I walked to Valentine, bought horse medicine, and then went back to my horse to revive him (took me like +20 minutes of just walking 😃)
On my first play through my first good horse died because I was checking out an area near a train track and my horse walked onto the track while a train was coming and it just immediately died
