Joe unquestioningly accepted Elon Musk's silly assertion that there's a one-in-billions chance that we are living in base reality (i.e. Musk said the entire universe is just a simulation). Yet he thinks people who don't think space is real are nuts. But if the universe is just a simulation based on code, there's absolutely no reason there has to be space.

Because we can calculate the fact that the space we experience to us is real but also we can calculate the likelihood that we would be living in a simulation, which based off the constant expansion of our stimulative technology (video game, certain computer programs, AI, etc) is a somewhat high chance.

@@Nandoswitharando Yes things we don't know and experiments that don't work are very important in science but pretty much impossible to get published, much easier to make shit up (which scientists also do all the time, just talk to them). Obviously not everything can be explained, or even observed, but a lot of modern science assumes that what we can't observe/explain doesn't exist. That's what he's doing here, he's not saying "yeah, weird, we don't know this thing" he's saying "doesn't matter, just assume the paradigm is correct". He's the voice of "normal" science in the face of anomaly, and one day people will look back and laugh at how clueless we were.

About a year ago, when the last season of GOT was about to come out and the press was being done for it. Arya, whoever played here, appeared on a British tv show, “The One Show”. On the show, she said she had to do a lot of practise for fight scenes. They asked her if she could show them a tiny bit of what she had learned. She agreed and showed off a change of hand knife thing. Everyone clapped and said “good job”. Then they talked again. It wasn’t until the climax while watching season 8, that we saw her to that exact move to kill the knight king. All of a sudden it all made sense. I think that maybe this will happen with the whole space thing. Maybe when the astronauts die, maybe someone will leak something, maybe aliens will land, maybe it’s when we ourselves die. Something will come to light, only then it will all make sense.

This guy is so pretentious. Many of the most important theories in physics were created to explain small anomalies. Plank's theory of blackbody radiation is a perfect example. I am a scientist myself. But sometimes science reminds me more of a religious institution than what it claims to be. Dogmas are everywhere, and science is no different.
You stated nothing scientific. Like many people who want some bs they say to more palatable they claim to be part of the profession they are criticizing. What he stated was spot on. If you have a theory about anything it needs to fit within the accepted and tested theories. If not it must disprove those theories while having a strong enough base to prove itself.

Planck's radiation law isn't some random what if idea he woke up with one day that doesn't fit into the wider theories of physics. He wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel or talking some crazy magic woo woo. He was a physicist who developed a law and a constant that fit inside our current understanding of physics. That is, Planck did exactly what Michael is talking about, the same as literally every other credible scientist on the planet. Science also never attempts to prove nor disprove anything. Those are biased actions that demonstrate a foregone conclusion. Science instead takes a hypothesis, tests it in an attempt to falsify it. Claiming to be a generic term such as "scientist" online is so open and so generic that it's near meaningless. What is clear is there is no training in scientific rigor nor terminology by anyone in this thread
There's tons of cameras monitoring the Earth's surface 24/7/365. Camera footage is useless for convincing anyone of anything because if they don't want to accept what they see, they can just cry "CGI". If you are actually, genuinely interested in seeing (for all intents and purposes) "live" footage captured by a camera in orbit, you can quite easily setup a receiver to intercept images from weather satellites and give it a try. I have personally done this on many occasions (intercepted images that is - I've never thought to correspond the timing of those observations with a rocket launch, but now it's something I think I will attempt). I use a cheap WiFi grid antenna, a Nooelec Sawbird GOES+ LNA and a Nooelec NESDR SMARTee XTR dongle with a raspberry Pi 3 board to receive data from GOES17 (which also relays data from its predecessor - GOES16 - and the Japanese weather satellite Himawari 8). This, unfortunately, is not likely to work for spotting a rocket leaving earth due to the small size of a rocket compared to the entire earth, but I might give it a shot anyway.

I believe we went to the moon, but when you LOSE the original footage for the most important moment in human history . . . . You can't blame some for being skeptical.
The original footage has NOT been lost. Hence some are skeptical because they listened to the conspiracy theorist version of what happened rather than the facts :-) Because no live TV broadcast had ever been attempted at that distance before, NASA recorded the Apollo 11 moonwalk onto telemetry magnetic tapes just in case the live TV broadcast to the world failed. If the world couldn't watch it live, then NASA would have processed their backup video and send it out to TV studios worldwide. But the TV broadcast worked, the world watched the moonwalk live, and so NASA's backup copy was now redundant, and THAT is why it was eventual lost. Nothing else was lost from Apollo 11 and nothing at all was lost from Apollo 12, 13 (failed mission), 14, 15, 16 or Apollo 17. And yet conspiracy theorists turned that into a story about NASA loosing ALL the original footage for ALL the Apollo missions. See how easy it is for conspiracy theorists to twist the facts to put doubt in people's minds? :-)

NASA were also worried that the broadcast from the moon to Earth wouldn't work, so they had yet another backup in place just in case! Many people don't realize that the Apollo 11 moonwalk was actually filmed by TWO cameras, the TV camera footage that we're all familiar with and a 16mm COLOR film camera from inside the lander, set at a good frame rate for Neil's first steps, but then set to capture a frame approximately every second after that (making the reel last about 90 minutes). Ratatouille2017 I believe the planets are real but only in a spiritual sense. I believe they project different spirits and energies onto the Earth. I don’t believe they are floating balls in outer space that are tangible places you can actually get to. I believe they are similar to the stars in the sky, just as they appear. Just my belief.
