If I had the money…..I would get this entire package on a 69 Impala and Matte black 😎. But what I liked the most about this video, was hearing the reasoning behind the choices, hearing a business talk about learning from mistakes and experience from hands-on testing, tells me and shows the business’ pride in their brand and product, working to have a good impact in people’s lives is so much better than chasing money…..and I respect the 💩💩💩 out of that. Money follows novelty, not the other way around.
Joe has money that's for sure! He spent $100k on a carbon fiber / gold encrusted booster seat, so he can see above the steering wheel. The idea came to him on hour 5 in his isolation tank after he ate a carnivore meal of elk he hunted in Alaska.
Black paint is the most difficult color to work with as every itty bitty scratch/swirl shows as clear as day. Lighter colors hide imperfections better, but they show gaps more. So if you have a misalignment of two body panels, it's less obvious with a darker car. The problem with black paint is that it takes an extremely skilled body shop to pull it off, and after that point it's a maintenance nightmare. It will show wear and tear much more than any other car, and you can't just roll up to any old detail shop who's going to throw their apprentice on it because, again, black is difficult to work with. That's going to limit the people with the skill to be able to buff it and keep it looking nice, which increases the price tag considerably. If you have experience in the automotive finishing industry, and don't mind doing the maintenance yourself, then black is a fantastic color. Whites/reds/yellows/oranges and pearls are much more practical in my opinion.
I'm not trying to be one of those youtube comment section over exaggerators...but honestly this is the most beautiful, and cleanest muscle car build I've ever seen. I love every single thing about this. What an amazing job 👏
Amazing COMPLETE head to toe package. You guys thought of and addressed everything. My only gripe is I think the wheels and tires need a more aggressive offset, particularly the front wheels which look to sit too far in, especially from a head on view of the front end.
All that fabbed chassis and custom fiberglass inner wheel wells and they only fit 255's up there. On mine (stock subframe)I lowered the front 3", lingenfelter camber gain mod, was able to clear the fender by 3/16" with a 245/45r17
When we had muscle cars the first time they were new we dealt with the build quirks and the idiosyncrasies of that car, Roadster Shop looks at those items and addresses them with simple and usability solutions. We scratch our heads saying how great it is that they engineered all that into their builds!!! The battery plug in the cut off the well thought out interior, great build Joe Rogan you’re a lucky man to get to drive this beautiful ride, 850 HP no less damn I want one too!
This is worth every dollar! One day I will come get come like this but I want some of my own custom work done too. Nothing wrong with this one honestly just some personal touches. I can tell I am going to be bringing two of my future camaro's, that i dont own yet, to you
First and foremost, thank you so much for posting this almost kind of mini documentary about this street rod. This video is not just entertaining, however very educational. Whether this car is for Joe Rogan who I think is an amazing guy or someone else, that car is beyond words. My final comment is this, if ever given the choice between owning a spaceship or that car, without hesitation, I will instantly choose that car. Gawd that machine is exquisite.
With their engineering mentality and standards, RoadsterShop has my business. Aeronautics is a field where one seemingly insignificant compromise can kill you; they'd be unstoppable in reengineering and airframes.
Joe, what a car man. Extremely blessed to have a team like that work this hard on your build! I’m inspired for sure! And my dream car is a 67 IMPALA SS 😌😌🥹 world, one day!!! 🙇🏾♂️🪬
P r e t t y damn cool finally being able to SEE the car Joe keeps referencing on his podcast. Those fender and quarter mods are OUT standing ! \m/ Rock on boy. oh wait... thats the Nova . LOL
I drove a 69 in 1971 when I was 16 . Mom traded in a 64 SS Malibu for it! Soon as Elon sells enough electric cars I'm cashing in some stock and giving these guys a call. Beautiful 😍
Should have done the wheels in a charcoal or even lighter gray and I would have also substituted rims for a more concave design or deep-dish the rest of the car is magnificent you guys build some amazing cars
@@banditpsycho3573 lol....I love it when people tell others how to spend their money or what would work better. This is what JOE ROGAN wanted, his vision not Frankenstein Brothers.
@@junyor757 Wooo... it's what JOE ROOOGAN wanted, so nobody can express their opinions or give constructive criticism. You even used capital letters so there would be no question who's build it is. 👏😂
In the 70s my best friend owned a used car lot and sold me a 69. It was one bad ass machine! After driving it for a month I realized my lead foot was going to get me in trouble so I returned it to him and picked up a VW bus as a replacement?? Not the first time he allowed me to swap.
I see almost eveeyone wanting Wilwood brake ser but I gotta tell you Baer Brakes are awesome aftermarket, made in USA and I toured their shop back in 1992 they had top of the line machines making brakes and they race their own brakes.
The only thing I would've added would be the RS grille. With the RS badge out back ot would've been a cool way to tie the Roadster Shop in with the original RS styling...
I watch re-runs of NewsRadio with Joe Rogan pretty much daily and also re-runs of Joe Rogan as the host of Fear Factor. If someone had bet me that Joe Rogan would be a multimillionaire back when NewsRadio was originally aired I probably would have laughed. He's definitely done well for himself. I don't know if he's a charitable type of guy but with his income he sure should be.
I started building a 69 on a RS chassis a few years back, got stalled due to a health issue, but looking forward to continuing the journey. This one is very well done. Thanks for posting this.
I disagree with Joe on a lot of things but this Black on Black matches my 2018 Camaro and if I had the money to get another it would be an updated 68 Camaro....
The car looks amazing. I'm sure it drives great too. epic craftmanship. BUT. "One of the easiest cars to drive. super comfortable on the inside, absoloutely no noise. feels like a super nice new car" + "we haven't lost the soul of a '69 Camaro" - I can't help but to think that part of the soul was lost when it was technically converted into a 2000's car. Having owned both hot rods and newer muscle cars, I'd say if I dropped the body of any of the old ones onto a new car, it wouldn't have it's soul.
Ok. Tech guy here. Place the lav on the string of the hoodie. Car is beautiful but I would’ve reshot the entire explanation parts that were muffled due to the sound guy misplacing the lav. Ok. Rant over. 😢
I wonder when Joe Rona is alone with the car if he calls his car the N-word too? I mean he has no problem saying it on his podcast. I bet he named it some racist name too.
@@TurboV8boi Yeah but it's just paint. There's nothing magical about it. Get some ppf on it and then have the ppf ceramic coated on top. That'll fix all your worries.
Just the attention to detail from Roadster Shop is truly bar none. From a license plate kickstand to USB ports in the console Roadster Shop literally solves every inconvenience that comes to driving muscle cars. Been following you guys for years and every year the cars get better and better
That's how a 69 Camaro should look. Keep the classic stock iconic lines, beef up the suspension to a modern day car and increase the HP's. Job well done.
Homerun…… way out of the park. Built the way a true musclecar should be. ‘69 Camaro to the untrained eye but so many subtle mods that it’s nowhere near the way it left the factory. Excellent build as usual. 👍
Sweet! Beautiful job. Now tell me again how the one off carbon hood gives you a nice OEM feel that you don't get from the factory hood. Wait what? Seriously this car deserves it's own movie.
Man this almost brings a tear to my 62 year old eyes. My very first car at 18 years old was an orange 69 camaro! Watching this video bought back waves of good memories in that car. This car you built for Joe is an absolute masterpiece and something I could only ever dream about owning.Simply outstanding!
The design and engineering that went into this build is so impressive. A well thought out design. This is a car you could drive every day. Proud to say they are a local shop. I live just a few miles away.
Master Craftmen! The whole RS Team is the best, everyone who works their truly does a phenomenal job. The new podcast is awesome can't wait for behind the scenes of the shop and workers content so we can see what all goes into these builds. Shout out to Patrick Webster!
I know cars I restore I couple in my life time. I can honestly says this guys are professionals they outdid themselves on this job. Great craftsmanship.
@@ipdjbt Why would his rep make his opinion matter more? He is clearly impressed by the build and left a very positive comment. Why do you feel the need to belittle him?
I love that you do your own chassis, rather than using something like an Art Morrison. Considering what a crappy company they are to deal with. It's good to know there are other, better businesses out there like you guys willing to cater to modifiers.
I’d say RS makes some of the best cars out there. All those special touches like the battery tender and license plate kickstand!! Attention to detail is literally second to none.
These guys are absolutely incredible. The vision to bring back these beautiful classics, make them modern functionally and add an additional level of class to it all. I love it. When I'm wealthy enough I'm defo gonna get one of these made! But I'd probably go for a BMW E30 or an Evo 7 GSR, or an Aston Martin v8 Vantage would be 🤤
Beautiful build! I'm amazed how much the shaved door handles cleans up the whole side profile of the car, really brings up the bolster of the rear quarter panel! Visually a small thing (but I bet it was a lot of work) affects so much for the whole car. I wouldnt change a thing, car of dreams.
I'd remove that corvette door latch cut out. Messes up the smooth lines of the car, Plus right there is where the hips start on the car and that puts it into the airstream, right near your ear.
Man the roadster shop just destroys the field when it comes to the builds they do, the ring brothers and them are in a league of their own. Absolutely beautiful and flawless build!!
Definitely killed it with the less is more keeping it simplistic but also so much detail is insane great build idk if anyone could do this twice seriously such a great build
