He's been shown to make stuff up. Like completely fabricated stories that he will add to his books and he will change facts to fit his narrative. I was very disappointed when I learned about this and when I learned that the majority of people in this field of study do not really give him any respect. I use to watch everything in my RU-vid feed when I would see his name but now that I know he can't be trusted, I find myself just scrolling by
Eric Von Daniken will be the first one to tell you, that there is a creator and that is his God! They're absolutely has to be a Creator! The ancient Egyptians believed in 9 gods. The Aborigines in Australia (who are most likely the oldest civilization still in existence to this day.) And every indigenous American Indian tribe all have one thing in common. They all believe we were seeded on this planet by extra-terrestrials???
Description from one of his books: "Erich von Däniken claims to have never seen a UFO. But in the fall of 1987, on a desert ride, he experienced a close encounter of a very different kind. A being materialized before his eyes, and since the "thing" had no name, von Däniken called it "Tomy." This book is the story of Tomy. Some say that Tomy is a scientific impossibility. Yet Tomy was there, science or not. After all, Tomy had for a few weeks lived among us, and that was enough for plenty of interpersonal relationships. God knows that von Däniken was not the only one who had known Tomy; others could see him, as well. Now, after nineteen years of silence, von Däniken has decided to make public the incredible story of Tomy." So tl;dr: He literally wrote a book about meeting an alien called Tomy who went on a road trip through the desert with him or something So ... uh ...
The man is a buffoon.. his OCD and his general narcissism is what makes him unbelievable.. also: he talks overly loud and his English, even after touring for decades in US is ridiculously bad.. Watch a couple of new videos of the man. It’s a total one man show where some poor schmuck needs to press the ‘next slide’ button on his master’s command. That is his only job. He was the first to raise some doubt on main stream scienctific claims in the 70s when - let’s be honest - you could tell people ANYTHING.. but EvD is delusional now. It’s getting embarrassing he basically needs to keep up this charade until he dies.
I was an army pilot. There was a HUGE unidentifiable something in the air on the outskirts of ft. Campbell army airfield one night. ATC was watching it. We talked about it as we taxi’d our chinook to parking. ATC could not see it on radar but we were all watching it visually.
@@MrWiggz69 read the book. Literally everything he put in there he questions. He's asking questions. There's like 1300 question marks in the book. Read it instead of ridiculing the man. I donno why joe makes it out to be all non-sense when it's not. it's full of theories that sometimes makes sense. the books just casts a light on the subject, what's wrong with that?
I picked up "Chariots Of The Gods" when I was 14/15ish years old and dear god... That book blew my mind! I DEVOURED every word then read it twice more. 1st book to do that to me. Loved it. Now I know better but I still remember that book very fondly.
Erich and Graham are telling the same story, just from different perspectives and with their own way of looking at the world. Anyone who has followed them closely should be able to see this. The core of both their work is a lost civilization with very high technology and the transfer of said technology. Erich re-interprets a lot of religion to support his theories while Graham does the same with old myths. In my mind I can't see how you could separate these two, they are both pioneers and I hope they live to experience the paradigm shift that at the very least makes it ok to question the events and order of our history.
I am very disappointed with Joe Rogans view about Erich von Däniken. Actually HE is the pionieer thinker of preastronotics, which now all scientist are also jumping on...
@@Fractoide you know who I would assume to be a charlatan and full of sht ? An "egyptologist" who claims things are tombs where no bodies where ever found in them. While simultaneously unearthing actual tombs near by. It has 4 doors, an engine, and a Honda symbol on the hood.. pretty sure this is a horse. Yes. It's a horse. I am a horseatologist.
I wouldn't know where to start because he makes a lot of claims without real evidence and constantly cherry picks the facts that "validate" his hypothesis. I found this video the other day, seems pretty good to begin with: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RwTkDkSbO-4.html
That’s like thanking a blind man for being your guide. Hancock and Carlson are sadly wrong about most of what they say. Real historians and archeologists are ignored because they aren’t delivering the sensationalism that people crave.

Yeah, you get a super interesting conversation about a lot of varied topics. It's fun. If you find any of them interesting, you can choose to pursue that avenue further.
Erich von Daniken only raises questions. Logical questions, that at times have been proven wrong. Which Daniken has owned. But his reasonable questions and his background in Theology do have grounds to raise awareness about many things that are unquestionably mysterious. Obviously, most UFO phenomenon is explainable or misinformation that the superpowers create to confuse each other about their newest technologies. But it is very interesting how deeply connected past civilisations were with technologies that seem barely possible as compared to our capabilities today. If anything, these past civilisations show just how limited we are currently-even though we have mastered technology to the point we have. Our imaginations and creations have been dulled compared to the "ancient astronauts" of the past. Insert the DMT theories from this point on.
We’ve “mastered technology”?!?! What technology have we actually mastered? We know about 1/10,000th of what is potentially out there. 99.9998% of the world does not understand we are on the backend of the Milky Way Galaxy’s lifespan. It has about 5-6 billion years left. What was happening in the Milky Way the 6 billion years before our Sun was even created? What has happened in the last 11.98 billion years since Homo Sapiens Sapiens have been around? Our Sun and more importantly, human civilization, is very very very late to the dinner table.
He stole the idea from H.P Lovecrafts 1928 book 'The Call of Cthulha' after being released from prison after serving 3 years for embezzlement, fraud, forgery. Be careful about who and what you believe in and worship. Both Von daniken and Hancock are scammers
From one perspective, the art on the Mayan sarcophagus could be a body, wrists bound, on an ornate altar with a symbolically oversized ceremonial blade plunged into his heart. Ribbons of blood are gushing out on both sides, landing and bouncing off two levels of altar. Here’s the accepted story: “Swiss author and pseudo-archaeologist Erik Von Däniken famously claims that a Maya sarcophagus lid depicts an ancient king piloting a rocket ship. But the sarcophagus really depicts the king’s descent into the underworld, according to Sarah Kurnick, an assistant professor of anthropology at the University Colorado Boulder. “
But he assumes so much. Look at any of his TV appearances. He basically says 9/10 that it has to be these ancient aliens, the man is either a nut or a liar.
Jay K true Jay K. He’s a legend in this. Looking forward to seeing him & asking some questions this May in Sedona. Joe Rogans lucky to have lunch with him but apparently didn’t listen too well

Erich von Däniken deserves a private interview. It would be really interesting to see his perspective on advanced ancient civilizations mix with the UFO phenomenon, very related to the ideas that Hancock Robert Bauval handles. He now sometimes appear in acient aliens but he's doing it since the 80s.

My best friend since age 11, saw with his own eyes (he and his dad, and his dad's sister) a saucer type craft with lights around it hovering above their pond. He was 11 when this happened. He didn't mention it until we were 19. He felt people would make fun of him, etc. He is the most honest person I have ever known. We've discussed it a few times, and he really doesn't care whether people believe him or not. This would have been around 1974. So, not sure what kind of technology was being experimented with within our government. But the way he described it, it made no sound, hovered for about 5 minutes, then slowly started to ascend at first, then out of sight into a clear night sky within a second. I would be skeptical if I hadn't heard first hand from my best friend.

My aunt and uncle where reluctant to tell me this story but they told me in 2016. Their story is basically they where driving across Colorado in the late 90s going to dog shows and they both saw a very bright light near the road like headlights but they both claim it was far too bright. Led and hid headlights where not a thing in the 90s. Then they had an experience of missed time of about four hours. They where in the same spot when they "came to" but it was past midnight. They always got hotels and never drove too much in the dark in big road trips like that so that's interesting to think about.
4:35 Yeah, I used to be an air traffic controller, and I can confirm ... I was on solo watch at a regional tower in Australia one night and _something_ was flying around out there that was not showing up on the radar. Maybe it was alien tech, maybe it was a military experiment - not our military, if our government knew about it then it was US and if they didn't then it was China - but there was 100% something out there. Didn't report it to anybody for what I'm going to describe as 'obvious reasons'. But yeah, there's some weird shit out there.
What a trip, care to describe the visuals as best you can recall? Once me and my pops were on a long drive home and we saw a aircraft hauling ass with a weird light pattern of LEDs or something on its bottom in like a sort of cross or plus shape
I'm a big fan of both Erik Von Daniken and Graham Hancock. I hope to live long enough to learn which of the two is more correct. In any case, Daniken's work predates Hancock's, and Daniken is more original. Hancock took the prior generation's work and gave it a new spin.
@@n.lightnin8298 love me some crypto! For the last 3 years, I spent all of my time that I possibly could to get myself into a great position to short the market last December. I even turned down a 6 figure job and took a job making 24k a year doing pest control because doing pest control basically gave me 8 hours a day to have headphones in my ears, listening to every single crypto update video and I could make my trades between customers. Pest control was stupid easy and I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it would be gross and leave me feeling disgusted every day but I lucked out and had a clean easy route. Anyways, I had everything lined up. I had made so much gains during the bull run, I felt comfortable enough to quit my job and just focus on timing the crash. I was going to go all in with 20x leverage. The exact day before I was going to place my short, I got Covid and I was in really really bad shape. I could hardly function. To make things worse, my internet went out. The market crashed hard right when I knew it would but I could do nothing about it. Then several other misfortunes happened and I basically lost everything (impermanent loss. I still have my crypto.. just HODLing at this point) lol 😜.... hopefully I will have better luck for the next crash in 4 years. I'm just going to keep buying until the next bull run... I hope you had better luck at the end of the bull run than me..... if you did..... can you spot me $20 worth of BTC ? I need to get gas for my truck so I can go job hunting 🤣🤣🤣

No, that’s actually what happens when you’re not intelligent enough to move the conversation forward. Or, you don’t have the balls to question or bring up new theories or hypotheses.
I love that in the end, to explain away the fire, Joe conclude that "it looks almost mechanical" "it looks like theirs bolts".. so ok, then it's mechanical, but it does not produce fire ?
You usually only see a whole pack of wolves when your being hunted but I got lucky enough to canoe by a pack drinking from the lake. One noise, they were gone faster than lightning. Lone wolves when they are scouting are more curious than when they are with the Alpha.
Like many, I read Chariots when I was in my teens and, although it didn't make me a believer, it did get me interested in history, ancient civilizations and cultures. The suggestion of a promethean encounter, however, even as an impressionable youth, seemed outlandish. Re: the Mayan plaque - we've had glass for ~6000 years. Telescope patented 1607. Galileo built and used one as early as 1608.

Thanks for covering these kinds of questions, Joe. WHat you're doing is so valuable A bit disappointed this time around to hear you so dismissive of Erich Von Daniken. Yes errors. But what about the key concepts? Graham Hancock does not agree with Erich Von Daniken's ET thesis. That aspect aside there is a huge overlap of concepts and material. I am sure researchers like Graham Hancock are grateful for the market that Von Daniken pioneered. Yes open-minded, scientific skepticism, but why not follow Graham Hancock's advice and follow evidence? You could start with the 2001 Disclosure Event at the Washington Press Club. And your colleague is right about the value of talking to people in aviation for mass / group encounters. By my reading evidence for ET contact is overwhelming. Once you allow yourself to be confronted by the evidence the obvious question changes instantly from "How could ET's possibly get here when nothing can travel faster than light?" to "How the XX did they get here?" Joe, you rightly ask to know what is the mainstream view of the carving of Pakal on the sarcophagus in Palenque. The late Dr Linda Schele of the University of Texas, arguably the leading expert in Mayan epigraphy and iconography confirms Von Daniken's view that the carving depicts King Pakal, travelling through the Milky Way. Just to answer that question. Thanks again for engaging. I'd love to hear you explore this further. Keep doing what you're doing!

That was SUCH A VINDICATION for all the years as a kid I saw Micheal Shurmur go on those mystery tv shows to ‘disprove’ something by basically scoffing at the proponents of whatever mystery when Graham Hancock and Randal Carlson wiped the floor with him about lost civilizations. He’s made a career of talking about extremely intelligent people in a negative way and after that podcast where he got completely schooled by two people he’s criticized more than almost anyone else it was a magical moment. I’m glad joe knows graham and Randall won that conversation.
"Temple of Inscriptions, Palenque, Mexico. 692 A.D. In the city of Palenque, in a temple on top of a pyramid, the archaeologist Albert Lluillier found in 1952 the access to a funerary cript that houses the sarcophagus of the King Pacal Votan the Great (615-683 A.D.). The Soviet scientist Alexander Kazantev came out with the theory that the relief on the lid of the sarcophagus represents an astronaut and his spaceship but according to the Mayan legend, the symbology of the lid shows King Pacal falling into the jaws of the Earth monster each night to rise again with the power of the sun each morning. Its teeth are enlarged to demonstrate its encompassing power. At the top is the mythological "Moun" bird. The pillar-like construction above Pacal"s head is the tree of life. The lid is twelve feet long."

Moricz was the one than started it, Daniken was the one than started to sell books about it. At least it made people aware. Los Taios stuff is pretty weird, why would Armstrong go there with two very known Anglo intelligence agencies?

Well, the starters were Louis Powels and Jacques Bergier with their "Le matin des magiciens/ The morning of the Magicians" (1960, 1963 for the English edition). But even they got their launch point from an American, namely Charles Hoyt Fort and his "Book of the Damned" (1919).

Fermi paradox is for the people playing checkers. There are way smarter people playing advanced chess and involved in all the clandestine operations going on behind society’s back.
