I was shocked by how creepy and cold he was in that. Whenever I watch Collateral, I am convinced that he couldn't have achieved the same effect without the change in hair.
When i watch edge of tomorrow, i know the story and plot really well. It's so confusing why i know that, it's really bugging me off. Aaand, it turns out that it's adapt from japanese novel and it also have manga adaptation that i already read. It really so different because the monster design so different, BUT they really good. I suggest you to read the manga to, the tittle is "All you need is Kill".
Saw an interview with Russell Crow where he talked about asking Tom Cruise about Scientology out of curiosity. He said that he had a short conversation about it and then Tom said, "if it's important to you, you'll look into it more," and they moved on to talking about something else.
Stefen B. Echols ever listen to Leah Remini talk on her experience with Scientology church???....whewwww boy hang on for that ride. They’re batshit banana crazy and dangeroussss
it's his personal business in helping tax evasion, exploiting people "beneath" him and manipulating people... OK. And ok I like his acting too , but all that scientology shit is definitely not normal
So no ones gonna talk about his performance in The Last Samurai. Was never a fan of TC until I watched it and right away became obsessed with the movie and his role as Nathan Algren.
People say that Cruise is just an action star but his performance as Frank TJ Mackey in Magnolia is one of the greatest acting performances of all time and that’s that
Absolutely. Tom was robbed for that film. Without him I don't think Rain man would've gotten the attention it did. But of course everyone pantered to Hoffman for playing a retard...
I've definitely come to appreciate Tom Cruise a lot more over the years. People kind of look at him as just this big blockbuster star and not really as a serious actor, but I've rewatched Eyes Wide Shut and Interview with the Vampire recently and his performance in both of those movies was very chilling and subtle . He might be over the top in his big action hero movies, but when it's time to tone it down for serious roles I really think he's one of the best actors out there.
Face Off: tell me the concept .... it's ridiculous. Watch the movie: it is GREAT ( but it HAS TO BE Travolta + Nick Cage , any other actors and it would have been a trainwreck)
Tom Cruise is freakin' crazy! But he's also cool as hell...and badass. I think much him doing his own stunts isn't just to give the audience the best show, but also for him to gather a bunch of skills. Think about it: Riding fast motorcycles, living fast cars, flying planes and helicopters, fighting, climbing cliff faces and tall buildings, skydiving and doing general stunt work. Plus anything I've missed. He's just having fun.
@@jasoneaton4520 Okay, White Knight. Sheath your sword. I was t using crazy as a pejorative of referring to Scientology. I thought it obvious that I was using "crazy" in the same sense as "wild" or "far out" in bygone vernacular. He's crazy in the sense. That he takes these badass risks...and has the skills to back them up. He wows the audience by doing these - get ready for it - insane stunts that would have Jackie Chan saying, "Wow, man. You crazy!" Try not to be so easily offended and view a comment in the light-hearted, complimentary manner in which it was intended.
Paul Ellis wow...that’s cool... l just saw all these comments saying he’s crazy, like jumpin on Oprah’s couch and Scientology. I just lumped you in with them, sorry mate.
I thought Oblivion was a shitty movie on lots of levels (bleak story, depressing story, with a grand total of 9 characters in the whole movie, where the basic idea of the movie wasn't really awesome, and I didn't really buy the whole story about the aliens stealing water or breaking the moon) that was only good because of his acting and Nicole Kidman's. The Russian girl was only okay--beautiful but only okay. The plane he drove was cool too. Morgan Freeman was good too but to me it was all about Tom Cruise. But his acting made it good, I watched it again and again, not even knowing why I could watch it again and again. It's not like Keanu Reeves where you can see that he has legit martial arts skills. Cruise doesn't have that level of combat ability but his acting is just incredible. I heard he told a fellow actor he always does his best because he wants movie-goers to get their money's worth. Have to respect that. Anyway yes I like the movie.
I know a guy who met Tom Cruise, through a technical aspect of one of his movies. He demonstrated the tech to Cruise. And he said Cruise was very interested in knowing how to use it right, very willing to be told when he was wrong, and very engaging and appreciative of the one on one. He's probably also nuts, is my take on it. But fuck it, he's a face on a screen to 99% of people
Mr. Blutarsky I'm nuts too. Doesn't mean Im not coherent or sentient... I just have been to the edges of extreme/dont give a fuck most likely Tom Cruise= same
Where did I say that Cruise wasn't coherent or sentient. I stated he was engaging, inquisitive, receptive to criticism, and appreciative. None of those things mean incoherent or insentient. So yes, I agree you're nuts.
First and second sentences you posted. You cement that you share Cruise's condition that I set: he's nuts. You state you are as well. Then in the second you refute any negative cognitive abilities on your part. The subject I brought up was Cruise, not you. Cruise and you have similar traits and you said that it quote "Doesn't mean" *you* are various things. This means that Cruise doesn't have them either, since you're both similar. That is *precisely* where and how you said that, and this is common phrasing in common parlance, not obscure communication modes from a lost era. Since you're nuts, I don't expect you to understand, by the way.
War of the Worlds was incredible. That part just after the first attack, and Cruise is sitting on the floor, against the kitchen table, in a daze, then gets caught off guard. You're so in it with him.
I will say thya after working on sets in Hollywood for over 10 years and hearing a ton of behind the scenes anecdotes from crew members, actors and development executives I have never heard an unflattering or unkind word spoken about Tom Cruise. That's incredibly rare, it's a catty biz and no one forgets a damn thing. That speaks volumes. He treats people well.
Eyes Wide Shut. I actually watched it earlier today. Great movie but very strange and too far for most. Unless youre a Stanley Kubrick fan, most people cant imagine themselves ever liking it.
Totally agree with Joe that Edge of tomorrow is the most underrated sci-fi film ever. I've watched it 5 times and I still love it. Whatever you think of Tom Cruise as a person( I like him), You've gotta admit that he is a terrific actor and has starred in some amazing films. ie..Collateral, Tropic Thunder, Valkyerie, Color of Money, The Firm, A Few Good Men, Top Gun and the M.I. films, plus numerous others. Tom Cruise is a bonafide A-Lister and a Legend.
Yeah I dont know how they screwed up marketing that movie. Foreign funding? It had 2 titles and stuff. I wasnt sure what to expect. I thought it was great.
Yeah, but it just wasnt believable.. the premise was kinda stupid. It's cooler when clucky blonde guy pulls his face off and reveals Ethan Hunt underneath.. just one guys opinion. Haha
Tom Cruise is definitely an awesome person. He obviously takes care of himself. He is not all torn up from drugs and medication. I like his speaking skills. The guy can be himself and he can emulate 100 other personalities if a movie role called for it. So what if he has banded together with Scientologist's? Something is working for him. I wonder how he will be in 10 years. Or 20 years. I can't think of one Tom Cruise movie that I would say was a bad movie. And most all of his movies are great.
Tom is OT Level 7 crazy, but yeah Homies a good actor, saw him at a club in NYC one nite with Nicole Kidman, and he was in character for the Vampire movie. Dude had a glass of wine and was intense. he wasnt talking and no one was talking to him . Hes the man
I remember when Cruise went on Top Gear for the first time and broke the track record. Jeremy Clarkson shit his pants and shook his head about "these Americans". LOL
It’s really envy. Tom Cruise has be at the top of the game for four decades. Losers will always compare their own lack of achievement and look for things to bring someone more successful down.
yes but normal people looks for things to bring down people who tricks millions into a cult, destroying their lifes, just so they can be admired like a god by these hopeless people. I really hate how Tom Cruise just gets a freepass everywhere for this
@S J. Well all churches don't require their members to dedicate their entire lifes and donate almost all of their income to the church. Some do. But they also have a bad reputation among normal people, whereas Tom Cruise is very popular somehow
The dude’s a sociopath very narcissistic . A sociopath with a great life nonetheless but he’s pretty much the definition of antisocial personality disorder.
When Tom Cruise was young he had what us old people called snaggle tooth. He had a major tooth pulled to make room and it caused a "midline shift". His front teeth moved to the side. He got braces to get his teeth back in front and center. I used to have a girlfriend that was a very observant dental assistant.
He did a number of good films back when movies where just movies. I saw Days of Thunder the other day for the first time. Kidman still had an Australian accent. One of many great films. Interview, Ryan, Cocktail ,TopGun. That alone beats most actors blockbusters lists.
Dude this is one of the funniest pod casts i think I've ever heard happen on the joecast. I mean they are all funny..But i laughed so damn hard at this one especially.. the team... the tripack...
The creators of Mission Impossible keeps adding more extreme scenes, in fact, Tom made a HALO jump in Fallout, all in 1 shot without mistakes. It is pretty cool if you see behind the scenes. But regardless of that, the story on each iteration just doesn't feel as good as the first Mission Impossible. I would like to see a crossover of MI and 007. Might be interesting with the right crew of the studios besides of Cruise and Craig.
cool idea. I can't tell the Mission Impossible movies apart, can't remember which is which. The first one is okay. It seems like every one is the same plot. Tom Cruise, betrayed by his own agency, battles all odds to come away with the victory just after the cool music starts.
8:09 I think Tom Cruise's best ever role was the villainous Vincent in the movie Collateral from 2004, but I think his best movie will be Mission Impossible Fallout. From an overall movie standpoint, I didn't think Rogue Nation could be topped but Fallout did just that
Edge of tomorrow was great dude. I was afraid to see it because I'm such a big fan of the Japanese light novel it was adapted from, but man, the movie adapted it well
