What a show! Such a great loss. I’m laying here in my hotel, watching this and saying to myself, “Joe…..get to the doctor, please”. It was his time I guess but he is such a hero of mine. Thank you so much for posting this. This band would have been huge.
I was there. Mesmerizing performance. The whole crowd was just going crazy rocking out. Joe and the band skillfully built up the vibe just letting us rest a bit here and there and then slammed us back into overdrive. I looked over my shoulder towards the back of the hall during 'police on my back' and it was a seething mass of frantic dancing. The songs went on and the crowd seemed to be posessed and just on another level. Never seen that at any other concert, except for The Clash .The crowd and band were one together. He reached the same highs of the Clash. Miss you Joe.❤
I'm love sick. I became an artist, got my stupid education but never be any good like Joe. I became a trained artist. You seem to have owned a house - nice. you did well in so many ways. Thrashing away is good. Mega star. I always loved you.
Joe Strummer is brilliant and I failed in my life to not keep him. I can't not adore the man still and wish he was alive. The poet genius, lovely lovely man.
I was there and it was one of the best shows ever. After the show there of course was a party upstairs until the theatre kicked us out. I and one lady joined Joe and the boys on their double-decker tour bus parked out back. The party continued until 4am and then it was time for them to drive to the ferry to France!
No videos of the May 2000? Flew all the way from Perú direct to Hackney to leave bags and then headed to Brixton. Will never forget Joe coming onstage and saying: TONIGHT WE ARE GONNA ROCK IT!! And started playing London Calling. I Stayed for 5 years in London, after one week London showed me Aba Shanti I at Hackney Volcano Festival... lot to offer innit?
Just watched this whole show...and its fitting that Joe Strummer closed the show w/a RAMONES tune ! 'Blitzkreig Bop' from 1975 (?)...I remember when that came out (Rocket To Russia was it ?)....IDK exactly what chords Joe was playing but I never played that song w/B minor pattern chords.(that song is E-A-D Barre chords, no ?)...BUT IT SOUNDED GREAT N E WAY !!! RIP JOE ! Holy Shit, I miss that guy !!!
yes he died a year later actually, I saw one of his last shows at Newport TJs. and on that tour he got to play with Mick Jones on stage once more at Acton Town hall
@@richardlawrence2903 I saw a guy at Beatty Park Aquatic Centre in Perth and he was so like Joe Strummer, some gold chain. No one will confront such a thing with all the evidence on the internet. I remember him talking about a death wish, a death cult, his parents dying and having a heart condition. He said he would die early. We went to a see a fortune teller with crystal ball and she said she had died in a car accident and been revived. she said she saw Jesus.
