That certainly brought back some memories! I was in the USA from France on a road trip from Miami, up to SC and back down the west side of Florida and managed to get tickets for Tom Petty at the Amalie without even knowing Joe was support that night. As great surprises go, that was a winner! Shame you couldn’t get the whole gig recorded - Funk#49 and Life’s been good were worth the ticket price alone.
I was thinking same thing had to revisit Tom’s story about lockers of gear stashed around the world ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z-XibXdSYjQ.htmlsi=dU7_5c73FbFRRuU-
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day!
I know Uncle Larry said that once, but it's not exactly the same. To my ear, it's not even close, and I can play both, but prefer to play Meadows so much more, that I don't even bother playing that Purple thing.
Nobody on this planet can put so much humor and sarcasm into guitar as the great Joe Walsh. I used to be able to play just like him...... Until I had a brain accident!!!
I named my boat - Welcome To The Club - in honor of my favorite JW song - and in my opinion the best song he ever wrote - and I get JW references all the time on the water.
Me too, in Tampa at Curtis Hixon Convention Center . And again in early 80s with The Eagles at the old Tampa Stadium. What a performer he is ! One of my favorites.
I went to my first concert at Curtis Hixon, Led Zeppelin, touring to support their 2nd album. What a night that was ! I saw more bands there than I remember, but Yes was one of my favorites. Also really liked Deep Purple, Blue Oyster Cult and Humble Pie, I missed seeing Hendrix there though ( bummer, but he walked out on the unruly/rude Tampa crowd )
datflys Where is Amalie Theater in Tampa ? Have been away for 20 yrs. Saw almost all my concerts at the Lakeland Civic Center while living in Tampa for 22 yrs. Except for 10 Years After & back-up Leslie West at the Tampa Convention Center and Peter Frampton promoting the Live album at the Orlando Sports Stadium. Spent that night in a hotel at Daytona Bch.!! OH, the mammaries, I mean memories !!!!!!!!!!!
I think it started as the Ice Palace in the 90's. www.google.com/maps/place/Amalie+Arena/@27.9427373,-82.4517771,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x2ba1ab03c399c073!8m2!3d27.9427373!4d-82.4517771
The building was originally known as the Ice Palace. In 2002, the building's naming rights were sold to the St. Petersburg Times, which became the Tampa Bay Times in 2012; accordingly, the arena was known as the St. Pete Times Forum from 2002 to 2012 and Tampa Bay Times Forum (2012-2014). In September 2014, the arena was renamed Amalie Arena when the naming rights were transferred to Amalie Oil Company.[9]
datflys So in 97 & prior it was The Ice Palace, almost rings a bell but evidently never attended the location ! Help me identify the location, please ! You've been so helpful already, Thank-You !!!! By the by, saw Joe in Lakeland when he was SOLO !!!
datflys OK, the RITZY, waterfront area, south-end that became MORE RITZY !!! How COOL that Joe opened for Tom, maybe should have been the other way around but either way, SO COOL !!! And thank-you TOM for that splendid concert & the other so close to your untimely passing! RIP!!! BOTH ARE LEGENDS !!!!!!!!!!!
To much goofing around and the mistake at 18:02 is the consequence of that behaviour. Watch live with Daryl Hall if you want to see the master at work. Tom Bukovac at the guitar carries it home
@@edwardmilko2914 thanks for your advice nobody asked for. But as a lifelong fan of Joe Walsh I will go on praising him when he does good and naming mistakes. Cheers!
Did Joe only play 30 minutes?: No? How the hell do you edit out Funk #49, but leave in Take it to the Limit. I hate the Eagles, man. But I could almost actually believe Walsh would only play 30 minutes after showing up 2 hours late completely drunk - which is how I remember every Joe Walsh concert I ever saw. He sounded better drunk, by the way.
Joes been sober 29yrs. Keep up dude! He IS A NATIONAL TREASURE. A one of a kind MASTER. On his worst day he is still one of this worlds BEST. NO DOUBT - FULL STOP
