I'm pretty sure he's alright with being the protagonist of one of the best, if not the single best, moment in the show's history. And there have been many special moments so that's saying something. It wouldn't have been nowhere near as memorable had it been a valid attempt and from a comedian's point of view, that's more important. Maybe not at the moment but retrospectively, I'm sure he doesn't mind at all.
Yes, and adding on top of that how much he struggled with some of the other tasks, but every time he could think, “Just wait. You’re going to see me finally redeem myself.”
I like how this video had the whole clip of the task and Joe's downfall. The ones of the Taskmaster channel edit out the studio bits, which to me is the best bits of this. the voting and then doc's "that's harsh" at the end

I know this is the popular clip but this sums up Taskmaster perfectly. The quirky tasks, the quick thinking or failing terribly, Alex bring Alex, huge triumph followed by an in studio revelation and Greg being the great Taskmaster he is, while his fellow contestants decide his fate before getting disqualified. There's a reason this clip went viral, because you just can't script natural greatness!
Justice for Joe. It's one of those rare moments on tele when you just can't not feel bad for the guy. Breaks my heart every time I see the replay. I just end the clip when Joe nails the shot and celebrates :D
IDK I need to see another angle. Rules said "touch" they didn't say anything about part of a person extending beyond the red perimeter which would happen if someone leans their arm over to get an easier toss without actually touching the red. The part of the shoe which looks to be touching could have just barely been the part of the shoe which angles upward, meaning it broke the perimeter but may not have actually made contact.
British panel/game shows usually don't have any prize, atleast not of any value. Most of them are just comedians/celebs having fun and making lite comedy
@@Acedog11 I think Alex said in a recent podcast episode that no one actually takes those prizes. Which makes sense since a lot people bring in their personal possessions
But the thing is if we went by stupid rules like that the tasks would be pages long stating that yes clothing does count, yes water does count, yes that does technically count. Clothing counts as part of you
Task master is a game where bending the rules is normally encouraged but there is a limit to pedantry. The whole point is all the rules are on the task sheet so they're not going to include every fine detail. Remember this ultimately a comedy show, not a game show
@@Kinglink If I remember correctly he didn't have to go home and watch, he heavily side eyed him just due to how hard the audience laughed at "we fought for you, mate"
@@Kinglink Tbh he could probably hear the whole thing backstage, but it's funnier to react as he did. Doc knows its much funnier to disqualify him then react as though he'd tried to save him.

If he had been given the points it would have been a memorable part in the series. The fact that he was denied the pointd has made it become legendary across all of Taskmaster.
the full video is even better , all of the others had a lot of difficulty in completing the task and it just sets it up brilliantly when Joe just plonks it
I think this one task perfectly sums up why Taskmaster is such a great show. The challenges are dumb but ingenious with room to find creative solutions or totally snooker yourself. The contestants get genuinely into it and really care which makes it compelling to watch. But what pushes it into genius level is the timing and editing of the footage. The audience reaction as they zoom in on Joe's foot absolutely demonstrates that.
"Please don't take it away from me" is second only to "eat your exotic sandwich" on the list of Taskmaster lines that make me cackle like an idiot every time I hear them.
"that's a really impassioned and eloquent argument but it make me more inclined to take it off of you" has been a near daily entry to my vocabulary as a manager since this video was uploaded
Joe Wilkinson's whole comic demeanour is kind of based on being a failure. It would have almost felt out of character if he had done it right. Still tough to watch though.
That video was no definitive proof that he stepped on the red. For all we know that centimeter could've been the curved lip of his shoe above the red and there's no rule against that
I think they should have had him throw it again. If he gets it, 5 points, if he doesn't get it, no points. But not giving it to him when he just went for it when everyone else mucked around... he was the most ballsy. He deserves it.
If you analize the video you see that he accualy don't touch the red. His shoes does. And even if he wasen't wearing the shoes his feet would not be on the red ;)
