I was at this fight. Trained at the Goosen gym in Van Nuys when Casamayor was getting ready for this fight. It went exactly how Casamayor said it was gonna go
This super featherweight era is filled with good 130 lb boxers: Mayweather, Corrales, Casamayor, Garcia, Freitas, Gatti, Manfredy, Hernandez and Chavez. It's just a shame that Mayweather failed to make the Casamayor and Frietas fights (and Naseem Hamed, too). If he just fought and beat them, Mayweather could have been without the doubt the great super featherweight of all time.
@@antonioarias9078 Oh please Freitas got exposed badly by Corrales after he fought nothing but cans. Also who the hell did Paul Spadafora ever beat to make him an elite fighter? There's no one on the level of Corrales, G. Hernandez, Hatton, Marquez, Canelo, Cotto or Pacman that Spadafora ever fought let alone beat. Spadafora fought nothing but BUMS in order to pad his record and then eventually lost to a bum. Paul Spadafora has to be one of the most overrated fighters in boxing history people only say he's good based on 30 seconds of sparring footage against a clearly out of shape Mayweather.
@@melanitex1089 Hatton best win was against an old Kosta he an England hype job. G Hernandez was old. Marquez was fat featherweight fighting at 147. Cotto was already damaged goods when he fought Mayweather as he been KTFO twice already, plus cotto was a paper champ his title wins from 140 to 154 were vacant title wins he ain't beat no real champs , he OVERRATED. PACman was damaged goods. It is easy to tear down a resume or make excuses. You can talk about all that mess about Spadadora, Casamayor, Fritas, the fact is that at 135 Floyd didn't fight any of them.
@@antonioarias9078 Even if I grant you all that again who did Spadafora actually beat? Spadofora beat NOBODY. And my point still stands about Freitas getting destroyed by Corrales. At least Floyd destroyed the guy who destroyed Freitas. That's like saying Floyd avoided Kosta Tyzu when Hatton knocked him out and then Floyd knocked out Hatton. I could understand if Freitas had a close competitive fight with Corrales but he didn't he was absolutely butchered in that fight.
Of course Robert is going to talk crap about Gamboa haha Brandon Rios was supposed to fight him and His little brother Mikey might fight him haha y'all really think he hates Cubans? He's said it himself he's still friends with Joel till this day.
commentators were a little harsh on casamayor here garcia was a good fighter! jus not the most durable fighter around on his day he gave everyone a tough nights work good win for casamayor.
it happens all the time against Cubans, just because the think we don't deserve to win when they also know that we have everything to impose our clean and good boxing skills.
Casamayor could have won the Guerrero fight. He gave Castillo a run for his money and he fought Marquez past his prime. Go somewhere else with that shit
Casamayor had the best straight left in the business. He was a great fighter period. Loved watching his fights. Cassamayor came up from nothing. He was was very very poor growing up in Cuba. He loved boxing.
VEO ESTA PELEA MUY BUENA .PERO CASAMAYOR ERA MAS GRANDE QUE GARCIA Y CUANDO NO PUDO SENTIR SUS GOLPES SE LANZO SOBRE EL.HE ESTADO VIENDO PELEAS DE EL CUBANO Y LAVERDAD SI ERA BUENO PERO TAMBIEN ERA UN COSTAL DE MAÑAS
Here we go again with Mayweather ducking everyone. Ye, he even duck your grandmother. But seriously, during this time it was Mayweather who was the most avoided fighter of the time. He is calling Hamed, Casamayor, Freitas, Mosley, and even light welterweight champion Kosta Tsyzu and Welterweight Oscar de la Hoya but no one is interested to fight Mayweather because he was that good. In fact, he's super featherweight resume alone is filled with good quality fighters like Hernandez, Chavez, Manfredy, and Corrales. Enough to make him a case for an argument as the greatest super featherweight of all time. No ducker could have this kind of deep resume. P.S. And for bigger fighters like Mosley, Kosta and de la Hoya to have no interest to fight Floyd during this time proves a lot. Even GGG, considered as the most avoided fighter today, didn't dare to call fighters from heavier division and most heavier fighter is willing to fight him.
@@raygan1221 agreed except the GGG part. 168 fighters including GGG was just all talk. The MW went ghost on him plus like Hagler he was comfortable at the weight. Mayweather was still growing. We both probably agree mayweather's resume is so good it's hard to say who he ducked. Most fighters don't even face so many top boxers in there careers.
man robert was a good boxer.he was 20 to 1 in the odds coming into this fight and almost won.even he wasn't that hurt in the end he was just off balance not that hurt.he would of recovered the ref should of gave him a little bit of time.no wonder he is one of the best trainers in boxibg today....
Casamayor was a great fighter. When Marquez beat him he was past his prime. Anyone who knows boxing knows if he fought Casamayor 3 years prior the results would have been different. I would have to say either man could win
What a fight of both technicians it would have been between a young up and coming floyd mayweather and a seasoned olympian gold medalist wba 130lb casamayor at 130.
Damn, it's a common trend for Garcia. Starts beating his opponents and outboxing them then later in the fight gets KTFO lmao. He was outboxing Corrales and then got KTFO. He had trouble with Casamayor at first but adjusted and started winning rounds then got KTFO.
Just so you guys know.... And I'm a Casamayor fan, and by ignorance was a Floyd hater; After so many years and thinking that Floyd was a ducker; I have had the pleasure of watching a lot of his old fight videos recently and in his interviews he was calling out, Casamayor; Kostya Ztsu; Morales; Barrera; and a pre- Barrera Nazeem and when they were in their PRIME it's just that things happened in the business and those people never met up in the ring.
WTF 😳 was that 2 of the last punchers are on the back of the head CLEARLY right in front of the ref. How are these 2 the same weight Mayorg looks like a middle weight.
+George Havenhand actually he put pressure and cubans are runners so that what marquez had to adjust to fight cuban runners. Watch canelo vs lara that boy high guard and ran.
I remember i knocked down both of these bums.. joe at ten goose with a body shot during some sparing and robert with an overhand at colinia when he was getting ready for chico fight
