I loved how supportive Joey's mother was of his music. More parents need to be this way. He had such a shy, tender heart. RIP Joey Ramone. Hey ho, Let's go!
This is awesome, he is so shy and humble, like a normal person not all about fame. Goddamn joey ramone is a great person, i swear. His mom is just as cool.
I miss Joey Ramone.. And the Ramones Rest in peace Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy.. Loved you guys growing up and always will. Thanks for some great memories
@@spookymulder9048 totally related. Johnny thunders and the ramones made the leather jacket craze even cooler than bruce springsteen and jim morrison ever did. A lot of metalheads will say they hate punk but many metal musicians were moreso influenced musically and fashion as a teen by rock n roll like the ramones that paved the way for punk rock. Even slayer and guns n roses did an entire studio album each that mainly consist of early hardcore and punk covers. Also, members of at the gates are in a hardcore crust punk band. Or how about all the 80s butt rock hair metal glam bands like poison and hanoi rocks that were just scene biting david bowies and new york dolls style? I can seriously keep going...
@@spookymulder9048 oh and danzigs affiliation with Sam Hain and the Misfits. Or henry rollins of black flag and rollins band... Jumping jesus is Dora being sarcastic?!
I think it's a harsh reality that in the US, The Ramones would get lumped in with these 4th string nobodies. Anywhere else in the world they were heroes, in the States they struggled.
Joey had such amazing support from his mom. It's rare to see that these days when it comes to parents and music like Joey's. Both Joey and his mom were lucky to have each other.
Micky Dolally dude that's funny you should say that because I always thought that he looks like Joey's mom but they're not related while that's cool that you saw that I thought I was the only one
The Ramones are in a league of their own and will go down in rock ‘n’ roll history, The other bands Ive never heard of with the exception of Jethro Tull.
@@p_e_t_e No argument there LOL.But what I said is accurate. NEITHER The Ramones, norJethro Tull are Heavy Metal bands...This show is stupid. As to the rest, I had heard of some of those bands back in the mid 1980s. I lived LA at the time and it was the Mecca of Hair Bands and Heavy Metal. Out of all of these, Danger Danger was the only band that got any airplay on the radio. None of them went far....pretty much sucked.
Joeys mom seemed like a doll. The Ramones were an absolutely incredible band, at the forefront of the punk music scene, but as Joey mentioned, incorporated tons of musical styles into their own interpretations, doo-wop, surfer guitar, rock and roll, all at super sonic speed with their own unique flair. They paved the way for generations of garage and alternative bands even to this day.. My mom hated 99% of the music I played growing up, but tolerated the Ramones...I’ll never forget her singing along to one of their songs to my amazement, and telling me ‘that’s a song from MY day’, and I thanked her for trying to ruin it for me!
@@salty_wuterrmelon8655 yes!!! Exactly!! I lady I watch was saying the other day now Wal mart has Ramones and other band tees now!! Well, I'm not happy about it. $10 shirt eyeryone has??? Pass
@@AnnieBoBannie421 I've been a fan of the Ramones since Pet Semetary 1989 when I was a little kid. I dont have their shirt but I'm going to get one. These new age kids dont know more than 2 songs probably
@@machinegun3133 they don't know what they're missing!! 💜 I listen to the radio today, and not only is there very little actual talent, its hard to know when one song stops and the next one begins!! It's not even a surprise to younger generation that their favorite singer can't play any instruments or even read music!! They don't even care their voices aren't real!!! Sad. Glad I grew up in the '80s!!!💜
Joey Ramone should be standing in front of all those glam metal punks. One Ramone song is better than all those songs those glam jerks play. LONG LIVE THE RAMONES!!!
Joey Ramone and a bunch of metal musicians are standing in a crowd in the opening of this video. To quote Sesame Street, "One of these things is not like the other."
Joey was always in such a schizzophrenic situation; on the one hand hiding behind these dark glasses and huge amounts of hair; on the other craving the public , and media scrutiny of rock'n roll. he just seems unable to hide his insecurity. The more amazing what he still achieved.
Joey had a lot of challenges as a child. His mother knew music was his best therapy and where his creativity and intelligence shown through. I suppose the artist side of her knew that. Thankfully
Compare and contrast Joey's mom with today's tiger moms and tiger dads from all around the world. These tiger parents would never allow their kids to be musicians...you can be whatever you want, so long as it's a doctor, lawyer or engineer. Oh yes, you do need to get up at six o'clock every morning to practice your piano before school, though.
I felt a little sad watching this as I cannot believe that they have all passed away! They died fairly young and still had so many years ahead of them.
+Tricky Nicky What?! I mean I know Joey Ramone is dead.....but all the other musicians are dead too? o.0 wtf?! Wait wait wait.....*does some research* It turns out that only 1 of the men that appeared on this show is dead except Joey Ramone obvioulsey and thats Mark Craney! So I would do your research before you make stupid untrue statements!!
Tricky Nicky I’m so lucky to have seen them live in 1987, If I damaged my hearing that night, it was well worth it! I’ll never forget the day I heard that Joey died. Then, when the last founding member died, I wasn’t right in the head for about a week. It just felt like something very important was missing forever. The only other time I felt that, was upon hearing of David Bowie’s death. Their music will live on forever tho!
It’s very strange to think about how much time is now passed. I remember watching this as a little kid, maybe 3rd grade? Both Joey and his wonderful mother Charlotte are now reposed, been gone for quite some time now. Times are worse now, and that’s not just a matter of perspective either. Ask anyone, young or older. The world, at least the Western world, is now a darker, nastier, and more dismal place. And I don’t think it’s going to get any better either. Miss these times.
Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee & Tommy, its still hard to beleive they are no longer with us, love the R.A.M.O.N.E.S and will always keep a few CD's in my car at all times.
I really enjoyed this! What year was it? Glad to see Joey & mama together. When she sang "Beat On The Brat", I knew she was a rockin' cool mama!! So glad to see a mother so supportive of her sons. Thanks for sharing! R. I. P. Charlotte and Joey.
Thank you for uploading this video. I fill myself with tears for Joey's tenderness to his Yiddish mamele. In Argentina we love The Ramones 4 ever GABBA GABBA HEY!!!!!!!!!!!
I am now 2 years older than Joey when he died. It's too young to die! His mother was an attractive woman. I see her here for the first time. May both rest in peace and be united.
I wish this show was still going on today to expose the modern hip-hop/rap genre as it is. Heavy metal and punk rock isn't as bad or nasty as today's hip-hop/rap.
Joey Ramone isn't metal he's punk let's get that straight. Never heard of most of these bands. Joey is the god of punk. I love Joey's mom she's totally supportive and knows his music. Love it.
Joey realmente se parece mucho a ella, que lindo que estuvieran juntos hablando de su vida y su gusto tan temprano por la música, el debe haberse sentido realmente abrazado en ese momento.
Just moved down the street from CBGB's. I really miss seeing The Ramones. True Originals!! Joey's mom made so much sense when she talked about drums & music being therapy!! Embracing Art!!! Only if all parents could be like that!! I also think that having Joey there really set him apart more than anyone else! That's why they had him there with all those "nobodies"!
I thought it was very interesting that when Joey was on his death bed with cancer/complications from his fall that and Marky tried to convince Johnny to go see him, Johnny said he wasn't his friend anymore..it wasn't long after that that Johnny learned of his own certain fatal cancer. We miss you, Joey. As a 70's baby, I miss them all.
Well one thing is for sure, Geraldo is still a bottom feeder along with Kennedy at Fox, geezus he's so clueless (HA.) Joey's mom was so sweet, it adds more to the heartbreak seeing Joey here, but he loved the life...Peace, from Texas.
I remember coming home from school when this episode aired... my dad wouldn't let me near the VCR to record it the first time and erased it when I caught the repeat with "Lonesome Dove". I had the wrong Joey in my life...
