I don't think the season was ruined. It was like one musician said in an interview: "Your first album is an all out nothing to lose venture and if successful, will propel you into using the rest of the material you already have for the second follow up record...the third record is usually a let down as you have used up preexisting material and now that you are on the road all the time touring, there's little space or energy to come up with really great stuff...so the third album is usually a let down for everyone." I guess the same holds true for TV shows, or close to it...find a series that was as good or better in its 5th season than its first or second...the earlier, best ideas have already been used up....
