@flowerlandofjohn 9 месяцев назад
@@HessianHunter Well, he has said that he only use the “Compressor scene” in the EAD10, and that has a very particular sound. And I wonder if one can “cheat the EAD10” with mad amounts of compressor instead of using the trigger? I mean the 2 microphones in the EAD10 are pointed upwards, so it generally sounds really bad if you don’t use the trigger, and he has mad amounts of kick in his recordings so I’m a little confused. I’ve been recording with EAD10 for years but I will check later this weekend if you can cheat it with loads of compressor 👍🏻😂

@@DaveClark-ib6sp I totally agree. But what must be understood is that the bar got raised after listening to John Bonham. That bar got met several times with quite a few drummers. Like anything, everything evolves. If you watch a street basketball player, you would swear you were watching a pro sometimes. When I first started listening to speed metal, Dave Lombardo was on top. He set the bar. That bar got raised by Paul Bostoph and Joey Jordison passed that bar. You don't think Neil Peart past John Bonham and raised the bar?My point being that there's always going to be someone better to come up. Just as in anything, basketball, football, any sport. @@XC-Fly Yeah, that's not exactly true. Lots of drummers out there in 2023 who can play with more feel and have more chops than he did. And I say that as a huge fan of his. Tony Thompson was a GREAT replacement for him in '85. Could have been very interesting to see what would have come from it if only he hadn't died.

Awesome brotha! 😎 I'm just getting back into playing after 20years without. Trying to build myself back up to playing Bonham and Carmine Appice grooves again. Forgot just how tricky some of them can be. Seemed so much easier for me to pick up when I was younger.

It's 16th note triplets - hi-hat plays the 1st note of the triplet, kicks the other 2 notes of the triplet. If you play a half time shuffle with quarter notes in the hat and snare on the 3, you can practice a constant flow of the kick doubles underneath. The hi-hat quarter note will serve as the first note of each triplet.

That is my favorite drum song of all time. Bonham was a beast and he did it with a single kick peddle! Drummers today still have a difficult time playing this and nobody did it like Bonzo!

I remember hearing this is the song Bonham said was hard to play love, I think he said it was because of the bass drum triplets or one of the triplet patterns being really hard to play. Still an amazing beat and awesome song overall.

I was a wee teenager when I walked in and heard this for the first time thinking it was a double bass pedal only to learn later about the triplets foot rudiment. Nicely done and a very difficult rudiment to play with the foot. 😀

Bonham basically created metal drumming and more intricate double bass work. Love that you stuck with the original groove here(we all know you could do much more😁). This was the first song I heard of theirs, and the drumming immediately had me hooked. Like so many others he was a major influence on my own playing, and I'm sure yours too!!
