With that Jersey Shore sound, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band defined a whole musical genre. With hits like CITY, On The Dark Side, Tender Years, and Tough All Over, John is a great showman that never fails to please an audience!
U people don't understand how much this music means to my life,...many dark days these guys have pulled me threw another day...God bless my childhood and John Cafferty
@102030920475280199664 this song is so meaningful to me also, it's our first song when we first dated..my wife to be and 3months pregnant was killed by a drunk driver..her car was hit and pushed off the cliff(30') into a creek and she died..although life is hard, but giving up(going on without her) is harder, stay strong...
@@dablaugntximntxub2318 My first wife lost our baby at 5 1/2 months. For 4 months I was going to be somebody's father. Then I had to flush pieces of a child down the toilet... literally. My point is...you were never alone. Loss is common to us mere mortals. I hope you have come out the other side. Never forget, but remain unafraid. Your story will become the strength for another one day.
I just went to a John Cafferty music concert on the famous Jersey Shore of all places and it was totally awesome. I drove over 3 hours each way to get there and back. It was worth it to me as I wanted to see them in concert for many years. I also met Michael Pare earlier this year too. He played Eddie Wilson in the two movies. At the end of the show, I even got to meet Mike Tunes who plays the sax. I still can’t believe I met some stars from the “Eddie and the Cruisers” movies and was in front of John Cafferty singing with him and the band at the show. I had my cold beer from the bar and had a great time. Yes, dreams sometimes do come true! It’s all “just a matter of time.” 😃👌🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Dude I’m so jealous that you get to meet those people man how cool is that these two movies in music I’ve been in my life since I was really young and I never get tired of hearing The songs
@@smsmoof8128 I missed him in 2010. That was the last time he played in the state I live in. 😔 I did get to see him in 1995 with the Heartbreakers. ✌️❤️🌼
I only have a few words to say.. If this doesn’t run chills up your spine, then you’re not a fan of the movie like I am.. Long live Eddie and the cruisers..
I was 11 years old when I first heard this song. Eddie and the cruisers was the movie. I'm 47 yrs old now and Everytime I hear this song I'm 11 again. Such a simple beautiful song. You can truly feel when a song a written by someone's soul. My all-time favorite song hands down. Thank you John Cafferty.!!!!
The ending scene of Eddie & The Cruisers are on a remembrance show. The tv screen goes dark and it reveals his reflection watching himself on the TV through the window and the musical chime almost sounded like tragic glass breaking. Movies done right.
Now and again a song comes along that the music pulls out the emotions of the words perfectly, what an awesome song/ experience, takes me back to those tender years.
Just amazing. This is one of the best songs ever. Ever! And John's voice is just soul melting- and the sax- wow. He sounds like he's playing for his life every time he touches that golden thing!!! I never get tired of this and never will. Thank you for posting this. And John Cafferty please keep being you and making this world a better place!
Nothing like the sound of a sax and a lead guitar....I wish so much this new generation could live this music...it really can change the world and humanity...
The most Under rated Band and Songwriters of all time. Incredible songs and vocal AND EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS is still my two favorite songs of all time.
I freakin luv John Caffertys voice. Got all the Eddie and the Cruisers movies and the cd soundtrack to the movie. My alltime fav band from the eighties. You rock John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. Can that guy play the sax or what?
The fact that kids my age don't listen to this music is beyond me. I would listen to this one time and time again before I listen to "today's hits" Truly a staple in a generation, I wish more early 20's listened to TRUE music
This song brings tears to my eyes til the day. I just turned 40 and this was the first soundtrack that I ever fell in love with. It’s literally my life’s dream to see this band live. I live in Cleveland and I pray that one day I get to see them before it’s too late
He could sing it before the throne - God Almighty would request it as one his all time favorites. This song is EPIC in all the creation of the universe.
The song exemplifies the pure power of music. As we inch closer towards the twilight, songs that paint a picture of our innocence hit us harder than anything else.
God damn I forgot how good this song was I love john cafferty and the beaver brown band this my grandpas all-time favorite band and I love this song and their ability to utilize all instruments and give shine to all their members in the band epic song and they always kill it
One of the best movies of my youth and a song that I will always cherish One of the best ever. Thank you John and Michael for all the memories..long as I live so will your music in me. Best-
I first heard Bruce in 1973 and by 1975 he established the Jersey Sound . Cafferty came along with this in 1984 and steals elements of the 1975 and 1978 albums . In 1984 he also tried to look the part of a Born in the USA touring Bruce . Nice song , but not original .
Awesome performance of a truly great and underplayed song! John’s voice still sounds great and “Tunes” on the sax.. incredible! I dard to say that if the late great Clarence Clemmons is the King of Saxophone then Michael “Tunes” Antunez has to be the Crown Prince of Sax! When he’s playing the solo near the end I can almost hear him break out into the solo of Jungleland and nail it the way Clarence would have done it. Note for note! Great band! JC & BB Band!
Lonewolf, you're the first person that mentions the Bruce Springsteen song, "Jungleland." That momentous song, and its chord changes, during the passage that matches the lyrics "beneath the city, two hearts beat," is clearly the inspiration for this song. I feel that "Jungleland" has the best saxaphone solo in all of rock history! And Bruce Springsteen not only hummed every single note of it to Clarence Clemmons, but ingeniously put it all the parts together in the recording studio, after Clarence left the session. It is a musical masterpiece, and much more complex, musically speaking, than the song, "Tender Years." Nonetheless, "Tender Years" is a very moving song, and it defines an era. Bruce Springsteen & The East String Band created the Jersey Band sound. John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band are disciples of this sound. I'd love to hear Springsteen cover this song, as he clearly helped inspire it. I wouldn't doubt that he likes the film, "Eddie & The Cruisers," and also this great track. But anyone who disrespects Springsteen is clueless about his significance in rock history, and relevance to this song.
do you know how much genius it takes to write music this damn good, its haunting and I like it,i have all of the movies just for the music score, righteous
Michael "Tunes" Antune doesn't get enough credit for his great ability on the sax. The very best sax for rock 'n roll. I could listen to him all night as he wails on that sax. What a great talent he was.
Finally found the REAL voice from Eddie & the Cruisers, woohoo :-) only bn searching like forever! So wanna see this guy, this band live.....Australia luvs You OMG SOOO STOKED :-)
Beautiful makes me cry with love for this song and every bit of love it was written and recorded by all involved . So so poignant and what is beautiful in my life
After all these years I can barely remember when the movie came out... just sat back and closed my eyes...and that's just what I said to myself ...good bye tender years ...

TUNES IS THE MAN !!!!!! I'M A HUGE CRUISERS AND JOHN CAFFERTY AND THE BEAVER BROWN BAND FAN HAVING BOTH MOVIES ON DVD AND BOTH SOUND TRACKS ON CD WHICH I PLAY EVERY WHERE I GO 24-7 !! YALL ROCK !!!!!!!
This was our favorite bar band in Rhode Island for so many years. We knew them simply as Beaver Brown and we would love going to see them after a day at the beach at Scarborough or Narragansett Pier. They'd play across the street from Scarborough beach, at a small club called The Beachcomber in Narragansett, and everyone would have their lobster tans and flip flops. The most enjoyable bar band I've ever seen in my life. It was sooooo great! Eventually, when they were asked to do the Eddie and the Cruisers soundtrack & they changed their name a little, and the whole world got to hear them, too. Love these guys!!!
So today after hearing On the Dark side play in my playlist. I got the random thought to look them up on RU-vid and see if I could find the real band John cafferty and the Beaver Brown band. I'm completely blown away I can't believe I never thought to do it before. I've watched the movie hundreds of times with my parents and it had a huge influence over my life. Makes me think about all the nights me and Mom would watch the movie together while missing Dad. Dad was a truck driver for 30 years. So mom and I would watch just to feel like he was there. Now Dad's home retired and now the cancer has taken mom from us. I'll see you again some day Mom. R.I.P. I love you.
Was it really that long ago, 1975, when I first saw him and the band in Patrick's in Newport and immediately fell in love with them? WOW....Still sounds amazing.
Wow that Sax was awesome. This song and this soundtrack was a masterpiece. Blended with Pere’s looks the movie was just perfect. Man were has the music gone?
Seen John Cafferty and BBB many times along the east seacoast , with my husband. This song always made us cry! And now even more so for me, as my Sweetheart passed way too young. John signed a T-shrt for him , wish it hadn't got stolen? Thank you for the bittersweet memories John. ❤️👍
These cats are still out there touring, kicking ass and not taking prisoners! 40+years and still rock no roll relevant kids! Check out their LIVE shows near you or in Rho-Diland this summer! Request this song too, lol Cheers JC&BBB
I remember seeing the movie when it came out, damn what a great one! Some great songs came out of it. What a shame the radio stations hardly ever played them! On the Dark Side was the only one I'd here once in a while. Tender Years deserved much better!
I sat at a picnic table at the Woodstock fair...sitting and eating was John and the rest of the band. It was surreal. One of my all time favorites. I can't count how many times I have seen them play...but that lunch was the best I ever had!
Wore out 2 copies of the sound track,,both with my friend Tom. He and I went to see them live in Pittsburgh a few months later,,excellent. RIP Tom ,,great memories my friend
The group is actually from Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Cafferty is from Providence, his family had a summer home on Carpenter's Beach R.I. with Steve Smith his cousin who fronts the band "The Nakeds". Gary Gramolini is from Arlington, Ma. and his younger brother Joel used to play with the Asbury Jukes. Mike Antunes is from the New Bedford area in Ma. Great band!
music today is like the frosting on a cake It's just for looks and to make up for what little taste the cake itself has, but this song takes you with it.
I’m definitely sad to never saw you live. Micheal Tunes is one of my favorite sax player. Thank you John and your band for all the memories. Eddie and the cruiser is what I’m still listening in my car. My favorite band ever! Love from Montreal, Canada.
