The film industry needs to show John a helluva lot more respect hes made some of the best movies in history including my alltime favorite film halloween
One of the greats. So many top ten titles. Its horrific to think that one of his main masterpieces was a crucial part of his loss of status. How many excellent top funded films we missed out on because of that BS is pure pain.
I think the genius of They Live is that it dives into an eternal truth of humanity: the presence of deception and illusion. So long as there are societies and beliefs, there are always illusions to accompany them.
@Bruce S He does them because he gets PAID. John himself would be the first to admit that money is his primary motivator these days. Nothing wrong with that.
I sooooooooooo agree with you.John has made 5 of my all-time favourites. Hollywood wouldn't be where it is today without folks like, Carpenter,Craven,Sam Raimi and others.John HAS gone down hill, but he's still a master of horror;his musical scores are THE BEST.What an inspiration.
@@qweqqweq2090 it was bigger budget every body got paid more he’s full of shut die t like sequels hates capitalism like in thru live but will sell out in a minute
A guy asked what movie John was more disappointed with, Ghosts of Mars or Escape From L.A.? He then said, "Escape From New York was great but, what the hell happened with Escape From LA?"
Funny shit I admire that guy he was to polite escape from LA was shit they all got paid a lot of money and it was a fucking joke riding a surfboard with a rounded leg playing basketball talking to the camera at the end freaking terrible
Escape from LA was shit he doesn’t like sequels but repeated a lot of shit if he in the film and Russell put the 15 million towards a better screenplay and effects
Imagine saying that to the great John Carpenter about Escape from LA. I obviously love Escape from NY more, but you don't say that you don't like Escape from LA while John who is on stage answering questions. But would love John to direct another Escape film with Kurt Russell making it a trilogy. Loved John's James Woods story. Though James speaks highly of John.
What was that guy thinking when he asked that? So fucking insulting. JC knows some of his films are better than others, but that fella was a total prick for being so rude in front of everyone. You could see JC was taken aback/quite offended, and rightly so.
@pdw2009 the guy asked after making a great movie like escape from NY what the hell happen in escape of LA. Its a rude question but lol come on we all thought that. The FU from Carpenter classic
I would like to have asked him whether or not Tombstone, Unforgiven, etc. caused him to reconsider making westerns as he had originally aspired to do, or at least one.
The next time Carpenter or someone else complains at one of these Q& As about other people remaking his films, someone should just mention his remake of Village of the Damned.
Yah but there is a difference between remaking movies now and then, movies like halloween, jason, and freddy you just dont need to remake, but like older movies that date to the 50s and 60s can use a little reimagining...Its too soon to remake movies like halloween and its ridiculous
Except that nearly every movie from the 50s and 60s and earlier that has been remade within the past thirty years was already a genuine classic revered by fans and audiences. It's sad that the type of garbage that glutted theaters in the 80s is now considered "classic" by little kids who think special effects and explicit gore are the be-all and end-all of horror.
