AND JOE HENDRY COULDN'T EVEN SEE JOHN CENA WHEN IT HAPPENED! I MEAN... there's such, serendipity with these two memed catch phrases lining up so perfectly, I would need just one more "it" factor to consider it a moment of Divine Intervention. 😅
Yep. For every burial, for every bad thing Cena has said or done to fans, there's 10 or more stories for each where Cena's an honestly amazing human being.
I'm not sure anything exemplifies this more than John Cena setting the record for most Make-A-Wishes at 600, smashing the old record of 500 set by..........John Cena These numbers are surely outdated by now, but you get the point
@@roronoauchiha69 The thing was he had say and backstage power to push or override a story he didn't like. He was the guy for Vince for more than a decade, so Vince took his words seriously
@@jamaali2358 Nah. Dudes stuck in arrested development became smarks and they were intolerable. Seeing fat redditors "protest chant" over kids, soldiers, women with breast cancer etc who were there to see Cena.
My dad took my brother and I to meet John Cena at a local Best Buy in 2005 or so when he was promoting his CD. To say the place was packed would be a huge understatement. I was maybe ten at the time, but I remember he really took his time asking us our names, how long we had been fans. He let my brother and I spin the title, and he signed my replica Undisputed title. He really made up feel like we were the only ones in the room. To this day, my dad will tell you what a stand up guy Cena was to us.
Stuff like this is what makes John the GOAT, when The Rock left for Hollywood, he stepped up as The People’s Champion The older fans boo’d him, but the younger people loved and supported their champion
You cannot be a peoples champion getting rejected by half the crowd at every arena for 12 years. Cena was horrible and vince sidelined everyone for him. It was fucking terrible.
Let's talk about what a good friend Kyle is. He meets a famous wrestler he probably idolized too and he thinks "You know, I wish my friend could have come"
Bro did the same thing when I was in 6th grade and went to meet him. It was when he dropped his rap album and the person that took me asked if he could speak to his daughter on the phone. Mind you, there were probably over 1000 people waiting in line to meet him, his response was “Yes, please!”, without hesitation. Dude was a true gentleman
Dont forget Cena has the record for granting the most Make-A-Wish wishes. And he holds that record because he genuinely cares for his fans, and not because he wants to use it to promote his shitty movies or his tequila/energy drink brands.
He's the reason WWE has such a strong partnership with them, he went to Vince saying that these wishes mean everything to those kids and that WWE should get involved.
From loving Cena as a child to growing up to appreciate how great of a man he has been his entire life is such a great feeling. It isn't often your childhood heroes stay a heroes.
Everyone who liked Cena always had a reason to like Cena when he was a divisive figure, and it often seems like it was a very personal reason that came from meeting him or a second hand account of someone meeting him which more than anything makes him a very likeable person.
I like him more as the Doctor of Thuganomics, but John Cena was one of those people who never stopped being cool. Hell, even when people were booing him he built others' careers. Cena took CM Punk and Roman Reigns to the stars, they were never the same guys after their feuds with him.
@JLWprime10 I think it's fair to say it was at least a 60/40 split like to hate at one stage. There were definitely people who did. Whether it was ever majority I don't know though.
watch close when he mimes answering the phone. when he says it was his friend Kyle you'll see an instant flash of a smile. that thought of his friend brought a true smile to his face. that's a friend.
I still got Cena's autograph from when he came and hung out with all us fans after th4 show. He was the only wrestler who came and did this out of the whole show.
We almost never had this man do what he does because of Vince's silly gimmicks and inability (in his later years) to get real talent over. Now I'm starting to realize just how much Vince held back the WWE in the 2000s. Cena was one of the exceptions to Vince's strangehold on wrestlers getting over with characters that suited them. Imagine how many of them we never got to see go over.
I grew up watching John cena and I used to always tell my family I believe that John cena wouldn’t be rude to his fans he would give them advice that could take them far and Joe Hendry just said what I meant and believed 💜 always Hustle,Loyalty,Respect Cena Legend💜
I've never seen or known John Cena as the wrestler in his prime as I just started rewatching in 2019. I've only known John Cena as one of the nicest and most charitable person on planet Earth.
John really does appreciate his fans. Dad met him one day but he seen how exhausted John looked, and simply said "hey John hows it going?" "Good" and that was basically it. He had his bella twin with him and they were buying groceries right here in a Phoenix AZ frys. I was so jealous i didn't get the chance to simply thank him for making my childhood spectacular every week.
John Cena is the standard that all pro wreatlers should aspire to, not in terms of in ring work or promos, but in his dedication to both the business and the fans
I can confirm how NICE Cena is. I went to a Smackdown taping for free in Sacramento back around 2008 courtesy of a friend of a friend who knew Cena personally. We left the show early because Cena called his friend who was with us and said he wanted to go out to eat at the local Applebee's. We met up at the restaurant and hung out with him while he ate dinner. I told him that I wasn't much of a fan of the WWE product at the time and gave him my reasons. He let me speak and actually agreed with some of my critiques. I'll never forget that experience and always think of Cena in a positive light. I haven't even mentioned that he still has the record for most visits by the Make a Wish Foundation. The man is truly a class act.
To add to these stories about Cena being a legend: So some time ago I worked at a Hot Topic in HS, i was a kid and thought it would be cool (turns out it wasnt) but John was doing some kind of commercial or something to promote Hot Topic carryint WWE merch which they were really pushing. The managers, and the corporate people from Hot Topic told us to not both John and he was only there for the filming. We all were bummed until John insisted on meeting all of the employees and even had a short conversation with each of us, he had WWE media people telling him it was time to go the whole time and he still insisted on meeting all the employees, will never forget that
I can vouch for Joe too, I've had the pleasure to meet him a number of times at UK shows and he's always been incredibly kind and funny, even when a heel he still be somewhat in character while still being so pleasant, I can't express enough how happy I am for this guy after following him for so long now
Man WrestleMania XL's secondary theme (If It Doesn't Hurt by Nothing More) fits what we fans had to deal with for 10 to 15 years. Especially during the 2010s and especially late 2010s. Outside of 2016, small good moments, and NXT. Holding on to hope turly was a different kind of pain.
I met Joe Hendry last year during the No Surrender weekend in Las Vegas, nicest guy ever and he let me talk to him for a couple of minutes about his title match with Moose. I'm so glad this dude is getting the recognition that he deserves. Definitely a great guy!
Now I understand why Cena is the face of the company and such a big star. He really puts his heart and soul into it. Unlike today's wrestlers, they may be more talented than Cena, but they don't respect fans like him, they are even willing to criticize fans and cry about how hard they have to work for them. Cena is truly a true leader
That was 2003 Cena too, way before Hustle Loyalty Respect, having never won any title at that time. Already going out of his way for young fans way before he was the face of the company.
John cena is the real GOAT. Although I'm sad to say that I pretty much missed the entire attitude era cause I started watching wrestling a little before the rise of cena. I watched wrestling a little before wrestlemania 20, which was cenas debut at wrestlemania against big show.
Cena a stand up dude fr. This came as no surprise lol I’m glad they had that conversation cuz had Cena said “no” maybe Joe just says “fuck wrestling” & we wouldn’t have this fuckin gem 💀🤣
I used to boo cena now I look at him and think what a dude he’s done the most make a wishes ever there’s so many stories of him taking time out of his day to just talk to people and it’s awesome
John deserved to be the face of the company and when I hear stories like this I totally understand why they never gave him a heel run. I still think it would’ve been cool, but the man is truly an icon.
I think I remember reading that Cena has fulfilled more Make-A-Wish requests than any other celebrity. Seems like the dude would do anything to make a kid happy. Mad respect
Back in 2003 he was at the arena when Smackdown tickets went on sale. My buddy told him it was my birthday and he cut a heel happy birthday freestyle on me
