@@d4b0o5t5 he also claimed Orton beat Cena for the title in 07 even though it’s well known he got injured and had to give up the title, dude knows absolutely nothing
Bro, John Cena was SO elite and SO legendary during this time, whether he was cheered or booed, people watched the product and it was simply amazing! So many memories this man has given us and that’s why we should be forever grateful for this man. This year definitely gave us some of our favorite matches like Umaga at Royal Rumble, HBK at Mania 23, Fatal 4 Way at Backlash, Randy Orton at SummerSlam & Unforgiven, and much more. So much nostalgia😭❤️
They booed Cena, but no matter what he put quality match after quality match, no matter how they feel about Cena, no one can deny how much he cherished the business.
@@DougieYT and I think that is what differentiate Reigns with cena. Cena actually delivered quality matches, all his hype and overpush was justified. while Reigns was just ok-ish, they overpushed him so much to the point that people literally got bored from him, until he actually got the heel run
and then he basically passed the torch to Randy Orton. 2008 was Orton's year. will never forget how he singlehandedly defeated both Triple H and Cena at wrestlemania 24
I’ve never been invested in a TV Show, like Raw 07. Shit was like a crack fix man. Everything this man did from Unforgiven 06-SummerSlam 07 was awesome. It truly did suck when he tore his bicep before No Mercy. His return at the 2008 Royal Rumble, and even though I didn’t watch it, I still consider that a birthday gift. Randy Orton’s push in 2007 is underrated too, that’s gotta be one of the best, most legit heel runs in wwe history.
That “Age Of Orton” run was LEGENDARY bro. I HATED him and wanted him to lose so bad, but now that i’m older and understand wrestling more, I realize how freaking amazing of character work Randy did. He was the best
To say that '07 John Cena was on another level would be a massive understatement. Cena really put in the work and came clutch in just about every match he had that year. The most memorable ones for me were his Ironman match against Shawn Michaels and the Fatal 4-Way match at Backlash ( I just love that match ending). Safe to say, '07 Cena was goated cuz he was just dropping banger after banger.
WWE in general in 2007 was some of my favorite childhood memories ever, I know that 04 to 07-09 is not nearly as praised as years prior when the company was at its hottest, but there's just something special about the years I mentioned that I look back at with fondness!
Lost me around 09 but I was not a kid by any means. However the early 2000s until about 08-09 were just overlooked by most fans. When they really take a look though the roster was stacked and stories were so good.
For real, I stopped watching at some point in 2009, and most of my memories are in that period, anything before or after I've caught on RU-vid, and I can honestly say that we had better midcard matches back then than some PPV main event shit in the last decade or so. The entire roster felt like a shark tank, everyone was awesome in their own way, there were almost no bad wrestlers whatsoever, just ass kickers, and legendary ass kickers
@@elijah998909 was a goated year . Randy Orton was having the best heel run in wwe history, HBK vs Undertaker rivalry , Cena vs Edge vs Big Show at Mania , Randy and HHH had one of the most epic rivalrys , young CM Punk ...
He really lived up to his Never give up quote Broken leg, nose and even almost broken neck and still did he stop??!! And man the goosebumps i got while watching Cena Vs Umaga last man standing match was just once in a lifetime 🔥
Cena in 07 was a beast, it really was his year. I have to say my favorite memory of his this year was that Mania match, I was hyped for it back in the day
That legendary match with Umaga at The Royal Rumble that year had me shook, I legit thought that psychopath Umaga at the time would kill him, and then he had his epic feud with Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton and among others.
Let's just acknowledge how on top of this mental run in 2007, the injury he had was supposed to take 6 months to a year to heal...and he came back in 4 months. This will always be so badass to me. Science and human nature said "this is how it is" and John said "that's not how it's gonna be though" and supermanned his way back to the top like the legend he is.
Cena is like those morons who don't take days off and work 12 hours at their job so bad bosses expect everyone to be like that,no wonder Vince loved him so much 😒
@@deehallalltalk9509 He tore his pectoral. Takes 6 weeks to lightly heal, four to six months to fully heal, and seven plus months before you can resume any training - which he must have been doing for a small while at least before the Rumble. He came back about 7 months ahead of schedule.
2007 John cena was the cena I grew up with, I remember watching raw every week during that time period with the Papa Roach theme song, brings back good vibes even tho 2007 was a dark year for the wwe with the Benoit tragedy and stuff
Cena had so many great matches in 2007 but my favorite was definitely his last man standing match with Umaga. That match is a top 10 Cena match in my opinion.
Even though we know that Cena was the last megastar, looking back I'm realizing he's pretty underrated. No matter who he goes up against, he's ready to tell a story on the mic. Even after rewatching his interactions with the Rock, i realized that he had the Rock shook and directors speechless while Cena remained confident.
Facts man Cena still be getting hate by some of the asshole marks from wrestletalk and other people saying he has to be carried in matches I mean please y’all have to stop this on John Cena hate
@@trewilliams8411 And like his T shirt said, he rose above it. The man wasn't playing a character, he was being real and it paid off. Those wanna be journalists probably say what they say to try to feel cool and better about themselves.
@@trewilliams8411 I don't even watch or listen to those idiots anymore considering that most of their content are just hating on The Big Bad Evil FED & don't even get me started on the fantasy bookers
The HBK matches were great, but what I really loved about this era of Cena (late 06-mid 07) was his look. That Chaingang Assault Battalion shirt you see in SvR 2008 is still my favorite Cena shirt design.
*2007 is my favorite year in general but it’s highly due Cena’s run. His Wrestlemania 23 match coupled with the Batista & ‘Taker feud was just so good.*
I will argue that WrestleMania 23 could be top5 or top 3 all time. When you see John Cena vs Shawn Michaels & Batista vs The Undertaker money in the bank ladder match..… those are those matches dropping bangers in this particular event. And also, as far as Cena vs HBK & Batista vs Taker this is gotta be the best WrestleMania main event matches of all time. Wrestlemania 23 was spectacular .
This is the Cena I reference when I'm talking about his peak - this was truly the beginning of Super Cena. I started watching in 07 because my dad showed me an ad for WrestleMania 23 in the newspaper and I was instantly hooked. I could only watch Friday Night Smackdown, but I always wanted to see a John Cena match, especially during that time. Cena was undefeated at PPVs that year, he defended his championship at every PPV, he showed up every week and had a match, and he won his matches without interference so there was no question if Cena could beat his opponent(s). 07 Cena was untouchable. Thank you, Pav!
Back when my family couldn’t afford cable or internet, SmackDown was the only show to watch John Cena make a surprise visit and when he does I got chills. The rivalry of Taker&Batista vs John Cena & Shawn Michaels was amazing for the build up toward Wrestlemania 23
I met him in the summer of 06. It was right before SummerSlam at a Raw in Memphis. He was really cool. I was there to Meet Randy Orton on Make A Wish. The other kid there wanted to meet Cena. Not only did I but the three members of my family got to meet Cena and Orton. It was the same for the other kid. Definitely one of the coolest moments of my life. This was around the beginning of his year long title run that started a cpl months or so later. I think it was a little longer than a year. The longest run in decades until the Tribal Chief claimed his throne.
This run was the peak of my childhood watching wwe. This guy with his random rapper gimmick, i felt was some cool dude in '04 but never this 'wrestling god' in '07. I never experienced rock and stone cold at their peak but having to live through this run just feels so special.
He went from a cheesy cyborg character called the prototype He went from an Iconic Rapper gimmick He went from the chain gang soilder who won the world title in 2005 He went from a great feud with edge To a champion who hardly lost a match for a year
When Cena reached legend status, nobody was safe. He was a hero to millions of kids all around the world, we all copied everything he did despite what the haters said. Good times. 😭❤
This kinda reminds me of the “Super” Cena video you dropped a couple months back. I wasn’t really into the WWE back then so thanks for recapping this history, I know how fun this must have been because I was like this with The Rock in 2000. Damn I wished I could have seen this Cena, he’s definitely one of dem ones. Thanks for the great content Pav!
Man the Rock in 2000 was so over, If only he and HHH had that one on one at Mania. The same backlash match at Mania. He should have been champ for all of 2000 after Mania IMO. Also that Angle vs HHH vs Rock is a classic aha. Thanks for watching man, means a lot. (Also I really wish I was there for the Attitude Era lol)
Man I'm a die hard John Cena and all these matches were some of the best moments of my childhood life and I remember all these matches like yesterday great video bro great memories
I'll never forget the fact that during my chidhood i had a real life superhero, who was beating giants, samoan threats, villain, super athlete, factions, all of this by himself, that was special, i'll never forget that and the joy in my heart when i saw him for the first time is something i'll never prove again.
John Cena really defeated Triple H & Shawn Michaels back to back years in the main event at Wrestlemania. It doesn’t get much bigger than that legacy wise. #LEGEND 💯💯💯.
Thinking about the words needed to describe Cenas impact on my life growing up…. But then I read through the comments, I see there’s nothing much more to add since you all said it already! He is simply one of the best to ever touch those ropes. & 07’ Cena was definitely A BEAST. Michaels was my favorite wrestler *at that time* & Cena was my second. That 55 minute Raw Match was EVERYTHING. Nowadays, when I look back at everything, John Cena made WWE what it was for me growing up. He’s my favorite of all time. -a *”let’s go Cena”* chanter
Cena vs Umaga 2007 Royal Rumble is the greatest Last Man standing ever, but his Wrestlemania match with Shawn, and then their rematch at Raw? Transcendent. Kids today will never see a year like Cena in 07, he became a Hall of Famer right before our eyes.
That WrestleMania 23 main event and that Raw match in London against Shawn Michaels holds a special place in my heart ❤️ What an absolute classic rivalry it was 🔥
Man we were lucky to grow up in an era watching someone as John Cena in our childhood days, kids these days will never get to know the John Cena we grew up with who started out as the Doctor of Thuganomics, and then went on to become the face of the company when he beat JBL at WrestleMania 21 to win his first WWE championship. Cena was great to watch in the ring, 2007 had to have been his best matches during that year. I know people are always gonna hammer on John for his wrestling abilities, but if you pull up his matches from back in the day he could go bell for bell with the best of them. All the Cena haters could not wait for him to leave for Hollywood, and then with how times change they miss not being able to see him every Monday night on Raw. When Cena went part time, that's when my enjoyment of watching wrestling ended. Last time I watched a WWE show was the Raw after WrestleMania 34, and I haven't watched it since because it just doesn't hit right with me anymore.
The Shawn Michaels vs Cena match at mania’ 23, the ending at backlash , the match at summer slam against orton and Cena f u’ing khali at one night stand all stood out to me. Watching this video brought pure joy and happiness to me and brought back my childhood to life for a few minutes. You are awesome at making your content, thank you for what you do 🙏and thank you for sharing with us wrestling fans and the world.
I was in the arena for that episode of RAW in London, very rare we get an absolute classic for a TV match, even rarer for it to have taken place overseas
My son was born in 07 and for me being a WWF/WWE fan from the 80s & 90s I could relive my childhood through him cuz we went to all the local events and my son absolutely loved Cena and I was a day one fan among my friends and this video is already in my saved history. Great vid bro as always 💪🏾🤙🏾
Me and you Pav I was feeling the same way I begged my parents to buy me summerslam ‘07 and it ended up being my first ever ppv I ever saw live. I’m so happy I grew up in this era
I grew up on John as did so many others. He inspired and impacted a lot of people. WWE was the real deal back then and John will always be the undisputed GOAT! He has the most craziest moments. Thanks John.
those days we had these pocket calendars with the photos of these legends, and man you put few of them in this video, especially John and bobby and john and randy, thanks for taking me back to my childhood!
actually his match with JBL had even more blood than that Omaga match, and that was in 2005. I'm surprised Wrestle Gif didn't even mentioned that. that is literally one of the most bloodiest grotesque wwe match off all time
I've been a Cena fan since day one. Honestly he's one of the best to ever do it. Honestly that match between him and Cena on Raw is insane. I never understood the hate. I'm an older fan but he can connect with anyone.
03-07 john cena was my favorite wrestler due to his don't give a fuck attitude. After the Pg era came and he became a better hulk hogan, he lost what made unique and was cringey. But even with all that he knew how to make promos can't deny he knew how to work the mic.
John Cena had a unbelievable year in 2007. He carried the WWE on his back with Rear and tear. He had an incredible matches so far as WWE champion with 380 days.Back then when I recall I knew that John Cena Achieve greatness in 2007.he had a goat year.🐐💯🔥
@@pleaseshutup7053 Batista vs the undertaker MVP vs Chris Benoit, EdgeCashes in to win the world title on SmackDown and put some great matches as a heel, Also getting hurt and come back.SmackDown has some great moments so far that year.
Cena is just immortalized forever an icon a freaking legend the goat john Cena you don’t see Roman having matches as good as this john Cena is on another level
It’s nice to see the younger generation worship this year for the man, the internet wrestling community despised this man in 2007. Took me years to appreciate how good he was.
When I was a kid there was a time I loved him, but it was brief. I got sick of him winning all the time. My friends too. From memory. I think it was mainly because he just seemed unbeatablle so every time he won it just wasn't as exciting or surprising. This is why Shelton was my fav wrestler as a kid because those wins he got as the underdog against Triple H were always a shock! He was the wild card who still lost against big names Like HBK and Benoit but would clutch it and get the IC title. Cena just seemed to always win. Cena deserves everything he's got though and I have always and will always respect him.
2007 WWE and John Cena really made my childhood. Cena being ambushed by Umaga and Khali and still coming out on top hit differently, wrestlemania 23 just hit different everything from the money in the bank ladder match with both hardy brothers to John Cena and Shawn Michael’s.
And people wonder why I was rooting for Cena in the 2010's. It's because I couldn't forget his legendary run and as a result I couldn't hate the guy or root against him.
John Cena 😮in 2006 is amazing John Cena wasn’t just unreal not just in 2007 also in 2010 this man was just like godly for over a decade the aura of John cena is so special I put it over Austin rock Roman Brock you name it John Cena took the entire WWE by storm
His best year was 2005. 2010 he was too goofy and buried the nexus. 2005 he was still the Dr thuganomics peak cena. And every feud was A+ JBL, Christian, Jericho and Kurt angle flawless
@@pleaseshutup7053 Those 3 great years for Cena in his prime from (2005- 2007).But what about 2004 .. John as The doctor of Thugonomics.
