Shawn was entrant 18.... just like he’d become victim 18 to The Streak.

All I gotta say is CM Punk's straight edge heel character was absolute gold, and it went unnoticed because he was on SmackDown. If he was on Raw it would have gotten more attention. He created magic with Jeff Hardy.

Shawn had me thinking that he wasn't supposed to be eliminated with how well his acting was

The matches I always tried to recreate in svr as a child, so classic. So classic.

I really loved the final four showdown because it pretty much set up 3 huge matches for Mania. HBK not winning was a bit disappointing but he and Undertaker didn't need the title for their match to be good, Cena eliminating Batista kicked off their storyline for the WWE Championship and of course Edge winning started his feud with Chris Jericho. I rewatch that whole sequence every once in a while because it was so masterfully done. Great storytelling

Oh and one other thing. Amazing how the 2009 Slammy awards all started in one night these things called "Stories" Jerishow becoming Tag team of the year and Jericho dissing Edge really beginning their feud for WM 26. The name Bret Hart being mentioned to Vince McMahon starting that feud. HBK and Taker winning Match of the year only for Shawn to start believing he could do what he couldn't do earlier in the year starting his obsession. And during this Rumble we saw a bunch of the storylines start up with Legacy starting to crack and Batista and Cena going at it. So much was going on during this Show instead of just Matches.

Early PG era (June 2008- May 2010) was still good and had decent storylines because it still had that vibe from the Ruthless Aggression era that carried over with the main stars of the era. WWE kinda started going downhill after WM 26 IMO.

2010 royal rumble was the first ever wwe event I watcged. And I instantly got hooked. I will never forget that match

Crazy how we all undermined the product in 2010 that I think it's safe to say alot of us miss it. They actually had stars back then.

SvR 2010 has my favorite soundtrack of all time it was so amazing as a black child to finally be introduced to these great rock songs

That period from 2009 end to 2010 wrestlemania is seriously one of the best ever... Storylines between Jericho and edge... Shawn and undertaker... Batista and cena... All were so well executed and their intermixing was so well done .. Jericho winning elimination chamber with shawn's help ... Edge spearing jericho in rumble.. batista eliminating shawn... Man so cool

Unpopular opinion But Edge’a run as a baby face from 2001-2004 is kinda underrated I was so hyped when him and Mysterio won the tag titles. So when I first saw Edge being insulted by Jericho for getting injured, I got happy as fuck knowing we’ll probably be getting baby face edge back 👌 Oh, and his Rob Zombie theme was 🔥

I remember 9-year-old me in the nosebleed section of this Rumble (the first of the two WWE events I had attended, other being WM27) losing my shit when I heard that "You think you know me." It was such a special moment in my life, man.

Thanks for the video. I had the stake of few in those years. I was behind edge as a fan throughout his career. Storylines didn’t change my opinion usually. I was an Edge fan, a Jericho fan regardless for example. Living through 2005-10 as this Edge fan was glorious. Great video!

Dang, I stopped watching wrestling in 09’ . The PG turn, a lot of my faves leaving or getting nerfed, my love for MMA blossoming, just wasn’t interested in what was happening in WWE but wow, this sounds like an awesome Rumble. You do a great job of telling the story.

You really reminded me how amazing Pro Wrestling use to be when it focused more on Characters and Stories rather than Matches and Workrates. This rumble brings me back to 8 th Grade. While that was the year I had bo friends at all i still enjoyed the life I had and this Rumbke was just Fun.

i owned it on disc and swear i watched every match a million times, that taker vs. ray match was legendary, this year was my first live show too and it was smackdown, taker kicked everyones ass and ended the whole night. goddamn what a time

It's funny how you narrate as CM Punk during the memorable 2010 Royal Rumble. What a time it was. I was 19, graduated h.s. in the summer of 2009 and what a theme track officially titled "Hero" by Skillet at this point the landscape of wrestling has begun to change for even better or worse things. A new decade, veterans fro the Ruthless Aggression era slowly became hall of famers, the young talent slowly climbing the ranks for better potential and fan interaction what a time to be in the front row, mid mezzanine and up the rafters to root for your superstar. By this point, ECW had its final broadcast on SyFy a month later, in its place saw the debut of NXT - the pro/con show was a disaster but a few years later turned into its third brand of WWE developed by Triple H. Shoutout to you for this amazing trip down memory lane reliving it brought out nostalgia I'll never forget.
