John Cooper has always let it be known that his songs are not for Sunday worship. His songs are the opposite of the real demonic music the world produces. I'm an old guy in my 60s and I want to let the other old "fuddy duddies" out there know that John Cooper is one of most doctrinally sound Christians out there. I've listen to his podcasts and RU-vid channel, Cooper Stuff for a while. That man is solid.
@Marq George Because he isn't as perfect as you are. We endorse worldly goods, products and people every day. Do you watch TV and movies with actors who hate God? Do you listen to worldly music? Do you associate with ungodly coworkers and recommend them for promotions? Sorry. I read books and watch movies that aren't produced by Christians. Guess I'm evil too.
@Marq George it’s sad when an argument makes a whole bunch of assumptions about one’s character and audience. John Cooper does not dismiss Paul. He aligns himself with theologians and apologists, lectures on the importance of sound theology, presents the Gospel regularly, and stands up against the antiGod cultural norms. Coopers style in music and clothing offends you because it doesn’t fit your personal preferences and your forcing your personal preferences into the Biblical text. If you don’t like it, move on and keep scrolling. No need to mislabel him or his audience.
@Marq George Good for you. Give thanks to God you're not like other men, or like me or John Cooper. You fast twice a week and give tithes of all that you possess. May God be merciful upon us sinners.
Bro we already had this back when Unleashed was released. People call Skillet satanic because Out of Hell is a non spiritual song. Literally the song is about the world we live in is horrible and God is the one who can pull us out of hell.
@Bibledingers I don't think you do! They symbology was not an accident. One time? Maybe! Several times? I don't think so. It seems like skillet and their followers spend more time defending the band than sharing the true gospel of Christ. We are all sinners! Let's see John preaching that in the parking lot at a slipknot concert. Ain't gana happen because him and the band are too busy at the after party. Wake up brothers and sisters.
@@BibledingersI've been a skillet can since comatose. I'm 32 and I've known skillet was a Christian band since '06. Even joined the official Fan club the panheads. I people who say skillet is demonic are just hysterical, and I studied demonology. I studied it because I'm also a paranormal researcher. Yes I'm a Christian too. I've already seen things worse than people accusing skillet of being demonic.
I feel like people who say skillet is demonic have never truly listened to their songs. I mean, we are talking about the band that wrote “angels fall down”, “Anchor”, “white horse”, “alien youth” and “rebirthing”
I'm not really in to Skillet but "Savior" goes hard. I'm into heavier stuff but I've always loved how John speaks his mind. Not ashamed whatsoever. Him & Ryan from Demon Hunter both just tell it like it is
I just replied to him on his recent Pod-Cast "Copper Stuff" and I literally told him to get Ryan (of Demon Hunter) on his Pod-Cast sometime soon! How awesome would that be? Panheads-and-Hunters-uniting-and-muching-popcorn-together-awesome if you ask me!
This reminds me of the original artwork on Strypers To Hell With The Devil album. People were so freaked out by a picture depicting angels casting the devil into hell that Stryper ended up changing the album cover. Get over it people.
"Get over it, people." I would recommend that people stop feeding their fleshly desires. Especially those desires of music from their past. This music is only holding people down by keeping them connected to their old ways. Run from this poison wrapped up in a way that the eys desire.
I had a man at a church ask me why I was wearing a shirt with a demon on it (Spiderman). I asked him why were the youth at his church asking me to baptize them instead of the pastors?
Why would you respond in such an immature way to a brother in your church? Especially if you are in some sort of leadership over young adults? As far as "marvel" goes, you do have to admit that all of their movies have taken a turn for the demonic side. Definitely would not recommend any of those movies to Christians, especially young or new Christians.
@@coopertown7867 It was definitely not immature, and yes, their recent movies are sinful, but they're in no way demonic. If you have an issue with Marvel, don't watch Marvel, that doesn't mean that it's make or break thing, because only some of their stuff is sinful, not all of their stuff. In fact, the majority of Marvel's comics and movies are completely fine, it's just some of their stuff where you need to draw the line. I should know since I read a lot of comics and watch a lot of their stuff.
Red has also been accused of stuff like this. Ridiculous. And in any case those are the conspiracy theorists who like to say that a Christian artist is secretly satanic because of some secret symbol that’s on their album cover but here is the thing if I were a Christian artist who is secretly satanic and trying to deceive people, I wouldn’t put some puzzle on my album cover and show you because that would blow my cover. These people need to use logic when criticising things and also in the Ten Commandments it says not to bear false witness against your neighbour.
I know that these symbols exist, but do not believe his cover photo is Satanic in the least. The symbols are out there but his doesn’t count as one because it shows how he was once dead by his sins but made alive in Christ. People really have nothing better to do than criticize and judge without recognizing the holes in their own hearts.
I think people get caught up in things they think "look" demonic....when in reality they have no idea how the old and new testaments talk and describe the spirits who are in rebellion against God. A demon doesnt have a certain look, they have a certain behavior which is to act and promote acts that are contrary to God righteousness. People will get butt hurt about an image that they presume is dark but will have no problem with outright apostasy as long as it looks clean and bright on the outside.
Have those critics every read the Narnia books by C.S. Lewis and the LOTR books by Tolkien, which depict goblins, orcs, witches, and wizards, spells and incantations? These are stories which depict the battle between good and evil. What would they do with the witch (or medium) of Endor in 1 Samuel? Tear out that story from the Bible? King Saul went to the witch for counsel, and she ended up conjuring the prophet Samuel, who prophesied that Saul would be dead the next day. Jesus knew that many people would not understand the complexity of literal kingdom concepts, so he purposely spoke to them in parables. Those stories he told represented real-life spiritual principles, but they were fantastical narratives, like fairy tales, which he concocted in order to get a deeper point across.
No .because they open the door to the demonic just like Skillet. So I guess you like every thing about Halloween too. I am praying for the compromising Christian.
She did not "conjure up " Samuel. God had Samuel, & Satan has no power to call us back from the dead! He never gives Satan ANY control of us, but especially after we've left this earth & gone to be with Him. That was a familiar spirit, not Samuel. Of course Satan knew Saul was going to die, Saul belonged to him.
@@coopertown7867John Cooper is an artist and author just as C.S. Lewis was one. Just because your legalistic self doesn't see it doesn't make you like a wise prophet or some crap.
@siervodedios5952 You sound angry! I'm not sure how you came up with "your judgment" of me from my very short comment??? Maybe you should lay off the heavy metal and rock music like skillet. That stuff tends to make people angry and very reactive to the smallest thing.🙄😜
I have to wonder if those who say anything involving Skillet is demonic if they ever pay attention to the lyrics of their songs, or if they have something against rock and metal music in general. Because when you look at Skillet's music and their lyrics, they actually do praise God, but they do it in a way that gets non-Christians to not only be drawn in but question their unbelief.
I had a homeschool mom come up to me while I was wearing an “Awake” zip-up hoodie back in high school , saying I gave her 12 year old son nightmares 😂😂😂
I don't blame her. It's luciferian symbology. Hosea4:6My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge, because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Ask yourself why you like skillet? Because it satisfies your flesh? Or because it is uplifting and glorifying the Lord and bringing you closer to Jesus Christ?
John Cooper was asked one time if he stopped talking about Christ they would be more famous. He politely said to the person that he has no intentions to stop talking about Christ. My wife and I went to a concert this year and it wasn’t a Christian concert and he was literally talking about Christ at the show. Great man of faith. 🙌🙏😎
I'm def Christian and also a major metal head , love comics and darker art styles. I love God .That never changes for me. Accept and love like Jesus would.
Christians need entertainment too. Sure, maybe Skillet doesn't play "worship" music, but is there anything sinful about their music? Please...it is entertainment. Christian, positive entertainment.
Entertainment doesn't have to be positive, but yes; Christian also need entertainment. TBH, the type of positivity that Christians need to have in their lives is the type that doesn't endorse sin, since false positivity endorses sin. Negativity, on the other hand, is similar matter. The type of negativity that Christians need to be exposed to is the type that properly explains evil for its actual identity and its effect on life, which is different from false negativity, which confuses good with evil.
Yep. People need to stop relying on their own understanding and start searching out the details. See: • Proverbs 3:5-6 • Proverbs 18:13 & 17 • Romans Chapter 14 • 1 Corinthians Chapter 8
Amen if they do love the world, the love of the Father is not in them! He said come out and be ye separate. When children of Israel came out of Egypt, he told them to leave those customs and things they had learned there behind and serve him. You can't serve darkness and light. Trouble is churches are not teaching what things are dark and light, its all feel good and do what you want and your saved. Read the scriptures, all of them. So much of OT taught on Israel serving and setting up groves and statues? Even Priests were not serving the Lord. Not everyone that says Lord, Lord shall enter but those that do his will. Its all about scriptures and relationship with the Lord and Holiness without which you will not see God. When people look at a Christian they should know the difference between those in the world. I don't listen to any of new artists. Nor follow them. Just because someone slaps a label "Christian" on something don't mean it is.
I completely understand what John is saying here...I find myself in the EXACT same boat regarding what I've always thought about my comic books and old 80's album cover art !! I am really glad he , and this channel , shared this vid - THANK YOU !!
Yeah I like Sonic, and Legend of Zelda, and Mario, Pokémon. Demons can be betrayed as anything really. I remember when I was a kid parents were saying that the colorful cute Pokémon were demons. I never understood that not even as a kid. My mom was one of them and bc I love God I honored her and wouldn't even play Pokémon at recess when all my friends wanted to and did. They played without me and I felt so sad lol. But now my mom is all like. "Oh yeah idk. Idc." LOL. And I'm like, sure now that I'm an adult you feel that way. 😂
Does anyone know the meaning of the collide artwork with the snake? My mom took my cd away from me when I was a kid because she thought it was demonic.
The snake represents fear, and the mannequin with wings represents faith, the two together represents the two colliding. Just like the song says “can we take a chance, when faith and fear collide”.
Hearing about the album art of Skillet's 'Awake' reminded of the a part when Jesus resurrected Lazarus (John 11;44) I say the triangle for the eyehole was unintentional
I can't stand Skillet's music, and I am not drawn to that art work. But I love John Cooper and the bold stands he takes. I listen to him all the time. To clarify, I listen to his PODCASTS. I NEVER listen to his music :)
@@dominiclapinta8537 Yes I have listened to Acapella. Currently my favorite is Praise and Harmony ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-40Jb46GXi_U.html
They clearly haven't listened to his music. Because most Christian songs are softer and usually lean to feel good in churches, Skillet hits the other side of heavy and full of conviction and rebellion against the sinful world.
The New Testament talks about beasts at the throne of God. The Old Testament describes Lucifer as the most beautiful being ever created. Middle-age artwork seems to have influenced a lot of what people think regarding what evil looks like.
You know .... just because something might not mean anything bad to you, doesn't mean that it isn't. I understand that ignorance actually is an excuse to some point, but when you examine the cult symbology in a lot of classic rock band art and one becomes aware of it, ignorance no longer applies. I don't think there's anything particularly culty about John's art, but the industry in general is consumed in paganism, and they are always looking for a way to drop the truth in plain sight. Because if they can't do that, then the lie doesn't mean anything.
Yea man I grew up watching X-men,spiderman cartoon Batman played Skyrim, legend of Zelda kingdom hearts etc would I ever think it’s evil or disrespectful to the Lord! Am I worshipping them know do I know it’s fictional yes but to my church at GVBC everything is demonic or can be demonic it’s cool but I enjoy anime and it’s good vs evil which is a good thing am I worship venom from spiderman of course not
I know bro. Fictional works mostly are not demonic. I love pokemon, marvel, anime, dc and league of legends but I do not worship it, and its characters, some christians have ridiculous claims about it. I am a christian too btw.
These people overlooked everything from the very translation they supposed to defend. I'm a Christian, I read the KJV, and growing up I have no problem listening to rock music. In simple words: I only have a problem with KJV Onlyists due to how they overlooked Psalm 150, which in terms of modern application speaks positively of how rock music can be used to glorify God, and John Cooper is right about rock music and comic books being disputable matters according to Romans Chapter 14 and 1 Corinthians Chapter 8.
christians that attack christian music sound like they don't want christians preaching the gospel. i mean the point is to preach the gospel and get it out to people that would never step foot in a christian environment. the fact that there is not one verse in the bible that condemns any music of any style, shows that the Holy Spirit might lead someone to making loud harsh music. and attacking that would be blaspheme against the holy spirit. not to mention, those that demonize christian music, are also the ones that act like they have any authority to tell a brother that they will not participate in the rapture, as if they have any rights to judge someone's rapture privilege.
Amen! Christian music has been a real blessing to me, as well as many others. I recall a story about a disaffected youth being brought to the Faith from a Flyleaf concert. On an unrelated note, do people really believe in this "rapture" thing? I've only heard about it online, and apparently it's pretty popular in Evangelicalism, but I've never really heard anyone promoting the idea. IMHO, it seems like a bad eisegetical reading of verses out of context, but I would love to talk about the idea, and why people believe it. Also, LutheranSatire: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j5MDqUAfPcI.htmlsi=sJUx9paKAyj_EmnK
Not to mention all these heresy hunters are obsessed with the occult and go to Christian concerts to cause trouble much like animal rights activists when they enter restaurants because they don’t want people eating meat and so these heresy hunters don’t want people listening to Christian Music and also not to mention they believe in Cessationism which is without a doubt the most disgusting false doctrine infiltrating Christianity. These heresy hunters’ channels should all be banned from RU-vid.
I had the same thought process until I woke up to the truth of this world - the evil in this world is everywhere & when you learn their symbolism and what it means, you can't unsee it as it is in everything. If he truly knew what they were & meant, he wouldn't do them or laugh it off. NO, I do not think he or the band are satanic - symbolism is though.
I agree. I don't think Skillet is bad but I do question their decision to use the symbols they use. I love their style but at some point you have to say NO to dark symbolism. If you are going to take a stand for real, then do it. I think they don't understand the roots of the symbolism they are using. We are to be in the world but not of it. I used to listen to them, but I am taking a stand, and I will not entertain any form of darkness. Even if it's only symbolism.
I'm pretty sure the main reason people claim that Skillet is demonic is because of their sound. Not the lyrical content. They have heavy guitars amd gritty vocals. And somehow thay makes it satanic. I never inderstood this argument because the heart of a song is based on its lyrical content. These people have never even looked at the lyrics of a songle Skillet song. Because oif they had, they would not be able to make this claim. My favorite thing to say in response to the claim that Skillet is demonic, is to look at their album "Rise". It has a song called "Salvation" which takes place after a song called "Madness In Me". At the end of "Madness In Me" and at the beginning (or ad a transition) of Salvation, they literally quote Isaiah 53 almost verbatim "He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins, he was beaten so we could be whole, he was whipped so we could be healed, all of us like sheep have strayed away, he have left God's paths to follow our own, yet the Lord layed on him, the sins of us all". You can't get more blantant than that, lol. I myself am a Christian rock artist. I'm highly influenced by John Cooper vocally. I remember seeing Skillet live for the first time at Creation fest when I was in middle school. I thought to muself "I want to be able to do that some day". It just blows my mind that people make these claims about John and Skillet without even taking the time to look at the lyrical content. That is what should be the judging factor. Not the sound. Also, we need to remember, there was once a time when Hymns were actually considered demonic lol. John is probably the most genuine Christian artists out there right now. He has, on multiple occasions, called out the deconstruction movement as well. All anyone needs to do to actually know who John is, is by just watching his podcast "Cooper Stuff"
I've seen John throw up those devil horns. 😱🤘 Btw, beyond comic books, could writings by human beings ever end up idols to others? Could anyone be idolatrous in grouping an array of writings into one compilation and regarding it as infallible and/or inerrant?
I'll never understand how these idiots came to the conclusion that somehow "gUiTaR + eLeCtRiCiTy = sAtAn." No genre of music is inherently evil. Music is a tool that can be used for good or evil, just like a knife.
Eh, people back then were superstitious, yet they failed in their response to superstitions (see 1 Timothy 4:7). Fun fact: the term "old wives' tale" is synonymous with superstition.
It's one of the most pronounced genres that uses symbolism for the illuminati/satanism. Think about the the rock and roll horns hand gesture. I can't think of a genre that sings about Satan or the devil more, it's arguably the most prolific.
Biblically literate people just don’t understand his position on controversial lifestyle and the example of living in the flesh contrary to scripture while he chases fame and money.
He sounds like a new age Christian. A born again couldn’t sing his Monster song without feeling gross. Is that Osiris in the background when singing Fire and Fury video? No discernment equals’ Of The World’’. Also it’s just not Good vs Evil. As In Harry Potter, it gives the illusion of good vs evil but it’s All Evil!
Very much, notice he doesn't denounce his illuminati all seeing eye imagery, he makes up excuses he wasn't aware of them. These people didn't rise to fame by accident they formed allegiances and if a christian does not denounce them, they are still apart of them and promote them.
Never underestimate the power of satanic panic. 😂 Venn diagram of people caught up in this and those who think Trump is God's anointed is probably a circle.
I personally wish that bands would stop relying upon make up and hot topicish things and would just play the music. Just look at the success of Highland and Celtic music and 90 percent of the music throughout the world. Most of the musicians play great music and don't wear costumes. Over here in mainstream music industry, alot of folk seem to be conditioned to not accept anything unless is is covered in ugly superficial gimmicks and is a giant eye sore of a show
@@matthewdavis418 Its not against the people personally, just their approach. I do know Skillet because I have loved them since the beginning. I never really cared for their style to begin with but they really went left field later on. "Knowing" or not knowing them isnt dependent upon the clothes they wear or the make up they put on. Just wish they would stop relying upon those things.
@@megangosiak1489 I am getting at how, the music should sell itself without having to rely upon superficial things. Just look at the nation of Ireland and Scotland, and how they dont need to play dress up. Their music is some of the greatest on the planet. Some of the greatest musician are those you will never hear of nor know of.
@@dominiclapinta8537 so they can't have this be their personal style? Have you watched his podcast? This is the style of him and his wife. It not being your style isn't their problem.
Skillet has always been borderline fundamentalist Christian to me (in the best way possible) so it's hilarious to me that people think Mr Cooper and co would align himself with anything demonic. Most bible thumping rockers there could ecer be (minus Stryper).
Meh. Venom looks like a demon even if you know who he is. I'd be concerned if my child was always drawn to dark imagery or used it constantly to promote their brand or name. I think anyone pointing that out probably feels the same concern.
Literally a superhero villain. He’s just ugly and gooey. That doesn’t mean he’s from hell. That’s like your kid buying hulk and you hate bodybuilders so you say that’s demonic.
Nah if you know you know, he shows all the signs of being apart of the new order. They have to have 2 sides. Even the devil himself had portray himself as a angel of light.
It’s neat to me how dragons are real creatures that God created. According to the book of Job, Leviathan was a scaly/reptilian creature that breathed fire. I’m not sure when Leviathan would have died (during Noah’s flood?). There are other stories of Marco Polo seeing dragons in China during his travels. I didn’t know John grew up reading comic books/Spider-Man. One time, when I saw Skillet live/in concert, he also mentioned playing “Castlevania” as a child. Who knew? My personality or the way my brain absorbs sensory input from the physical world has always seemed different from about 95% of the culture. I’ve struggled for a long time with wondering if that was always part of God’s plan. In Heaven or the new Earth, people will be sinless, but does that mean nobody could be quirky or artistic?
I’d say… in all your getting, get understanding. You can’t take scripture and twist it. To the pure all things are pure is not meant for demonic imagery. Murder is not pure, pornography is not pure…. Romans 14 … why fight to stay the same just because something seems “cool” to you. Praying for the body.
Heres a scripture in context. "Avoid the appearence of evil." So, no, you can't make art that "looks" demonic and say its ok. And those old rock albums? They literally worshiped Satan and got their art from that. How you understood them is irrelevant. What matters is what they are.
Actually, you got that passage wrong. Take careful note about the word sometimes translated as "appearance". It doesn't refer an *appearance* in the sense of how something looks to an observer, but rather in the sense of when something shows up. For example, I can say that the president made an *appearance* at the press conference. Therefore, to suggest this passage prohibits things which only look evil would be eisegesis and taking Scripture out-of-context. Here's a Mike Winger Q&A where he explains this in question #1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zZcTC3xUTXg.html Hope it helps you to better understand the Word. God bless! :)
Wth are you talking about, none of them are demonic or even insinuate that, and also the lyrics of all their song talk specifically about god and what he does in our life, and how powerful he is, you should listen the older live concerts of albums like alien youth in 2002, and there you would see their worship and their testimony, and you would understand skillet is the complete opposite of what you’re saying they’re right now…
You all do realize if you listen to most metal and rock that 90 % of it "besides black and death metal of course" isn't bad at all and a lot talk about Godly things. People are dumb and just look for things to whine about. Quit worrying about music and worry about the Anti Christ in the White House
He's not the Antichrist, lol. Evil yes, but if people knew what the Bible says about the AC they wouldn't be confused like they are about the identity of the AC. It gives specific details about where he's from, how he comes to power, & when. Jesus' first words when asked about the last days signs was " Take heed that you're not deceived". It's extremely dangerous not to know our Bible for ourselves, especially now. There is absolutely NO other way to be sure we aren't deceived, but to know God's word, & stay close to Him. Anyone who thinks they know who the AC is now does not know what he Bible says about it at all.😢
Yes, exactly the Anti Christ lives in the White House currently and people would rather criticize someone who is actually not afraid to speak the truth and their music especially if you listen to their song, Dominion, it talks about the cheating that happened in the election and how the machine was used as a power grab to get more votes for them being the Democrats and they were not gonna cave to it. The music is not demonic, in any way shape or form nor is it meant to represent that, what it’s meant to represent is how God is fighting the demons that we face all the time and that he is using us to get back at them by showing us that he can bring us through even the darkest of days.
he laughs about people who are "really offended" but it is a serious matter if a Christ follower/believer is "offended..." because they can see the lie, they are calling you out on who you really are representing. And I can tell you John Cooper, you are not representing our one and only true God of the bible. Your music style may be popular with the world but we know what it says in the Bible about that .....romans 12 2 Im not sure if you are just ignorant in what you are doing and have been blinded OR you do know and you are purposely leading people to Hell.
What "feels good" is irrelevant. Did it feel good when the prophet Joel accused the northern kingdom of Israel of sin? Did it feel good when Arius was accused of heresy in the First Ecumenical Council? We are not called to micromanage the artistic preferences of other believers or reject God-given talents that don't appeal to us personally, but we are absolutely called to maintain orthodoxy in the church and call out false teachers.
Everyone has their own taste in music. No one is forcing you to listen to them. They’re a rock band with outstanding biblical character and deep lyrics so they have appeal for some Christians.
