YO for real when this show first came out a girl to me Denzel's son was on a show called Ballers i was like "who? who?" I droped the remote and took my eye off the screen for a few seconds as soon as i heard this guys voice i popped my head up to see if Denzel was on ballers... Thats when i knew that was Denzel's son.

I think Denzel " like most dad's " don't mind helping their daughters but they want to prepare their sons for the harsh world they will have to face especially as a black man. I think deep down Denzel is very proud of his son, he just doesn't want to make things to easy for him and it's working because John David seems to be a very humble young man that works hard to get things on his own and is not looking for handouts.

I appreciate Angela especially this interview, Envy & CTG over here riding his pops almonds and she kept bringing it back to him. You can see the life he spoke with when he talked about the things he’s got goin on. Love how this man brought the rest of his family in to the relationship.
I'm super late to this interview but John David handled it very well. He seems very well-rounded and humble which is great. He will be successful on his own merit.
I think I’m in love, and not because he’s Denzel Washington’s son, but his personality is everything. He’s so humbled... I could sit and listen to him talk for hours, much respect for him.
Nah this interview was funny, he may have a little complex about his father, but that's natural because he is trying to prove himself. Other than that, he's got a sense of humour. Shout out to ballers, love that show.
He speaks in a way where it can be easy to miss what he's saying. But he was dropping gems - his description of the kind of partner he's looking for - "is she an artist, is she a dentist, did she graduate from college, can she read, is she educated?"
Just in his characteristics, John David shows more class that the other people on the panel. He’s not a thug/gansta wannabe. Has proper diction when he speaks and expresses honor for both his father and mother.

I can understand why he avoided the acting thing initially. It's hard to be in the shadow of the great Denzel Washington. But he is a great actor in his own right, a real star, and so humble. Really like him!
Such a well spoken brotha, growing up when I spoke like this they told me I sounded white, and that's the problem with the black community. People don't realize that when you speak properly you're taken more seriously and are more respected than when you speak broken English.
Looks like his mom and sounds like his dad! He seems like a sweet guy. I can appreciate his wanting to be himself, but also glad he decided to finally do what he liked. You have to respect him and his desires. He aims to be independent and successful on his own. He learned it from his mom and dad, and he wants the same. He does not want to be known for someone else's success.
Just watched this interview after it's been up for as long as it has and the high point of it, for me, was Mr Washington checking Charlemagne for his disrespectful comment regarding Angela Bassett. Real men never seek to exalt themselves at the expense of women. No matter what the format. Kudos to Washington. Imagine that becoming the RULE and not the Exception!
The reason his father pushes Olivia over him was something mentioned in an interview. He told Olivia she was black, dark skinned and a woman so she was going to need all the push she could get and that she really needed to know how to act and all of its technicalities...he told her to look at Viola Davis and that that should be what she should strive for.
