I have this on VHS. Do you know how many times as a kid I've probably watched this thing? Wild. Never thought I'd see it online and as soon as that music starts that brings back memories. Probably not normal entertainment for a kid but it was for me lol

Awesome, in my early days, no VHS tapes, but I poured over all the tractor and implement manuals I could get my hands on. Plus, attended every John Deere day I could get to! Thanks for watching and commenting!

I have 2 neighbours, one of them have 2 6400 tractors, 4wd open station... Very strongest AND reliable tractors... But another neighbour have a 7500 AND 4455 tractors, both purchased new, today the 7500 Is "death" AND the 4455 Is working in the field without problems... Greetings Mr gmfan once again thanks For sharing this videos👍👍

We had a 4450 and I remember that tractor being a beast! Our JD dealer had a 7400 that we demo'd, but we passed. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment, I appreciate it!

I used to run a 7800 4wd on my uncle's farm in the late 90s early 2000s man I loved that thing
@OpasJDGarage
@OpasJDGarage Год назад
We could've used 4wd on those rainy October days after the sun dried the corn on the stalks but the bottoms always had a layer of greasy mud on the top! Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@OpasJDGarage I wish my 2240 had 4wd. I've been pushing snow all winter and if you point your nose downhill it can be hard to get pointed uphill again.

@@somethingabouttractors241 Agree, 4wd drive makes such a difference! I remember those 7800s at our dealer, it was like sitting in a spaceship, the engine was so quiet and just purred along. I was so hot to get one, but my father talked some sense in my head and calmed me down on the drive home! You know the conversation "Dad, we need to modernize and get with the dang times!" Could've been a page out of the Gordon family movies..ha ha ha ha. He told me we need to be thankful for what we have and keep our current tractors spick and span! That Christmas, my father bought me the ertle 7800 "kit" tractor to assemble. That tractor was a heck of a lot affordable, and I still have it!

just purchased a used 7800 last spring, like it in some ways and really wonder what Mother Deere was thinking with other things. Was Deere so insulated that they didn't realize that others were going to pop up hoods instead of side panels and bolts galore. I sometimes think that Mother gets it engineers in a room and demands what is the "minimum air conditioner we need" whereas the competition just says, "guys we got sweaty large farmers in here and it's all glass, we want a meat locker setting on this thing". The air just barely keeps up and the air flow is low with all new filters. Overall a good machine just some glaring things, also the 19 speed jerk a matic takes some getting used to

Well, I've got a confession on this video........HDA is the Engineering & Design firm that JD worked with in the development of this tractor when the fellas in Europe were working on the 6000 series. I wanted to keep the video positive and left out some of the issues and arguments the JD boys got into it with HDA during development. Funny, the issues that were on the table for debate you brought up some in your comment. I put the video together a while ago and can't remember all the specifics, but I need to include all the information, including the negative as well. I do remember the JD boys using the 50 series as a benchmark for the air conditioner and the 7000 series didn't hit that. although it was improved vs early cab design. Next time I will include all my research, not just the rose colored glasses edition! Thanks for watching and commenting, it helps me in the developing of content.

I'm also going to do an interview with a fella that owns one in the 7000 family (my neighbour - think it's a 7800) and get his 2 cents on it. He's as busy as a one arm painter right now, so look for it in June.

@@OpasJDGarage Looking forward to it. When I was young Mother Deere did no wrong, then i worked for a long gone Deere dealer and learned a lot. Now that I'm in my mid 60's I am quite jaded about ag all companies. I think the warts makes some of the most interesting topics. Would like to tie an engineer to post and whip some of them, just for revenge. Been operating and repairing farm equipment for over 50 years and some things are just plain stupid
