I would love to see one of those John Deere 8RX tractors. The price is definitely up there but would be good for many farmers with large acreage but not many large fields like in Georgia. This is an big improvement upon the CaseIH Magnum Rowtrac that came out a few years ago.

Hi. Did you by any chance meet some farmers seeding winter-wheat NoTill after Sunflower, and filmed it? I am curious about how they protect the seeder and hoses from the sunflower stalks

I run an 1890 CCS drill. 36 ft. The new meters definitely are easier to access and there is much more room under the seed tank to service the center row units. This means more steps up to reach the seed tank, but I could live with that. The individual row shut-off is very interesting. Wonder how they do that? Probably a lot of electronics. $200,000 for a 30 ft. drill, ouch!

That tractor is a lot quieter than the old 4020 and the 4320 we used in the 70s

You look at today’s farming techniques versus the forefathers of farming, and there’s obviously no comparing. Crop yields today are incredible with the modern technology. Hear a lot on the Internet, and other sources of a coming food crisis, I just don’t see it. Commodities production can only be reduced by plan governmental interference or globalized governmental interference. America’s potential for farm production and growth is unstoppable, and has not been yet fully realized. As I see it, much of the farming land has been removed from production through government incentive to maintain it as wild lands. If that land was brought back into production in a "State of Emergency," America could quickly resupply the countries food needs. The production capacity of the land has been greatly increased by the new technologies. Equipment used in this case, it’s the tractor and the seeder. Crop yields must be staggering. With all this technology comes the incredible price of the equipment used in today’s farming. Just with this tractor and seeder you’re looking at about $800,000 incredible. Today’s farming technology boggles the mind. I could just never see a so-called food crisis in America. Every time I view bigtractorpower am amazed at America’s farming capacity. Never forget the weather, with today’s scientific ability to manage weather, it leaves a questioning doubt on how that could affect crop yields.

When you seed the ends,how does the gps work? Is it constant on and off or can you just overseed the ends if you desire?

Outside of horse power is there a difference in these tractors and the articulated quads??? Is there an advantage either way??? If you got the traction and the horses why go articulated unless it's all about the turn at the end of the row|??? Just wondering,,,, I may be missing an angel here or something. Maybe bigger is just better in some situations. Understand many times its just the size of the field.
