That right there is why the D was the favorite plow tractor of of thousands of farmers from 1923-1953 and beyond. Given good soil conditions it would pull a four bottom plow all day and under the worst conditions it would still pull a 3 bottom.
Nice running tractor, I had one in my younger days, the D is an awesome tractor. Too bad this owner didn’t put on an original exhaust instead of that straight pipe, it makes that D sound weird, not the way a D should sound.
that John deere D sounds great like that 😊😊 can U hear it talking I can then when it's plowing it gets in a pull then it sounds even better singing 🎶 😊 let it talk and sing both I enjoy it myself 😊😅🎉😂❤😊 /😊😊🎉🎉❤😊 OMG 1O 9 2O23
Grand dad har an R, and a D and a 620 and two 730 diesels and a 820 diesel and a 830 diesel . Oh yeah he was big time share cropping in the late 60’s and on into the mid 70’s and every one of those tractors were antiques then.
That’s why even though the big R diesel was supposed to be it’s replacement, demand and back orders were so high they finally built the last hundred or so of them in 1953 in an alley between the factory buildings after their production line was dismantled. (That’s where the term streetcar D’S comes from)
