In this video, you will watch me rebuild a dual speed chopper drive from start to finish. Got a chopper drive off a S770 combine that is leaking grease all over the floor. Going to replace all the bearings and seals to get this combine back up and running again.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into making these videos. Also the details you give as well as the tips and tricks with dissasembly/assembly. You help me keep the green iron on our farm moving! Watching from central WA State.

You keep that green iron moving using the green lube. . . . I enjoyed seeing that you even used green grease on a John Deere part when you did the assembly. 😊 as always, you used great techniques in showing how things came apart and how you put it back together.

Still cracks me up that as I am a School Bus Mobile Technician for Thomas Built Buses that I enjoy other diesel related content but secondly is that majority of the modules on our School buses are made by John Deere Electronics. Go figure. Love the content Zeth even after the few years or so of watching your channel and a lot of the farming channels on RU-vid. Enjoy seeing the different sides of farming.

For those large/heavy snap rings, check out the Lang #87 snap ring pliers. They use a forcing screw to expand/contract so you don't have to rely on hand strength. Plus the tips are indexable to get the best angle. I rarely use the hand-powered type unless they're small and easy.

my first thought when he said "Corn head grease" was how do they harvest the grease out of the heads of corn, then transfer it into the drive mechanism?... I know this is not really what he's saying, for some odd reason it was what went through my head. (no, I'm not that stupid, just probably tired right now)

Serious question: Are those specially designed bearings that you can press in from the inner race? I've always known your supposed to press in bearings from the outer race only so they don't get destroyed. Thanks Zack, love the vids!
@ZKMasterTech
@ZKMasterTech 7 месяцев назад
The outer races on these bearings are so thin and tight up against the housing, you can’t find a diver that fits it perfectly without hitting the seal. If the bearings go in without a lot of force, the inner race and balls can take it just fine. Done it a hundred times with no premature failures. My track record speaks for itself.

Love the videos! I was taught to never press on the bearing race that is not contacting anything. It may be that the tolorance you are dealing with are not as tight to do damage to the bearing balls/rollers and race on which the touch. School me please?
@ZKMasterTech
@ZKMasterTech 7 месяцев назад
If they go in easy like these do then it’s fine. If it takes a lot of force then I’ll push on the race closest to the piece it’s going on.

Observation............snap rings are mfg via a stamping operation resulting with a finished product having a 'rounded edge" and a "square edge'. I always install snap rings with the square side in the direction where the forces applied to the retained item will help lock the ring in place. I have experienced cases when reversed the ring subjected to come out of the groove. Example when rebuilding a transmission and or other areas where snap rings are used. The exception would be when a snap ring is '"machined on both sides " then are non directional. I was taught snap rings were "directional" and always followed how I installed them no matter their location or use, What are your thoughts.
@ZKMasterTech
@ZKMasterTech 7 месяцев назад
These snap rings are not directional

! Если использовать данный привод на нейтрали при низких температурах при уборки кукурузы. То происходит сухое трение вилки переключения об сепаратор. Первым симптомом будет не до включение и выбивание передачи. Так что не использовать измельчитель нужно без ремня. ;)

Now then fella. Am a very loyal follower of your channel and its awsome . However, without prejudice,am getting the belief that most of your content is fixing contract hire machines and that they are not customer owned! The type of repair work you are undertaking is seriously expensive and down time of the machine and inevitable cost to farmers and associates.We did use JD but totally now Fendt due to JD lack of customer support with data software issues until recent court cases! Thankfully we continue to have a strong product and from another awsome brand, sadly not JD. Thanks for your time and effort in providing awesome videos 👍👍👍😀
