Great video with great camera angles and explanations to let people know and see how to do this. Thanks so much for taking the time to do it. Looking forward to you doing the oil change, air filter change, fuel filter change and greasing all of the zerks on the machine! Have a Merry Christmas!

Thank you! Those will be coming in a few months, Ill do the home maintenance kit. May not do the air filter if not needed to keep from opening that system too much, but there will eventually be one of that as well... Lots of cottonwood trees here in the summer, so Id imagine it won't be long. You have a Merry Christmas as well!

Thanks, good video. How often is it recommended to change that oil/filter?
@JoshsGreenGarage

First 50 hours, then every 200 hours.

Of course can’t get all the old fluid out but is there any process to drain the plow/lines? Great video… I couldn’t find my manual.

Best you could probably do is get something under it for leverage, then have someone else hold the lever open while lifting up and letting it lower. That may force some out, but there isn’t all that much in those cylinders, probably not worth worrying about in my opinion

There is a spot at the top that is green with a blade cutting icon, needs to be in that range.

I like the inside rear wheel weights. Are they John Deere
@JoshsGreenGarage
@JoshsGreenGarage Год назад
Nope, the are old IH/Cub Cadet weights. I restored the and used yellow paint, close to JD Yellow. Couldn't get actual JD yellow in my are unfortunately... I have a video of the restoration on my channel if you want to watch.

Does that take JD20C?...how much does the rear end take?
@JoshsGreenGarage
@JoshsGreenGarage Год назад
Uses JD Low Viscosity Hy-Gard, this one specifically takes 8.1qt, but it has the rear PTO kit installed, so about 1/2 to 1qt more. 1 seems like a bit much now, probably better to start with 1/2 or less, then slowly bring it up. Other models will vary depending on 2 or 4 wheel steer, and you will need more if doing a 4wd model as opposed to 2wd.

Hello thanks so much for your videos! Will that same filter work on my 2011 x720? Also I went out to check my level and I will have to remove the seat to get to my dipstick on my differential. I wonder if this is just with a 2011 model.

It should, you can always check the maintenance sheet for the 720 on Deere’s website. Has all the maintenance item part numbers.

@JoshsGreenGarage Thanks .. I'll definitely do that I've got nothing to go by as of right now...

I’d like to pin point you to the sheet, but it’s a PDF… also, you may have to get the one fore the X728 or something, didn’t see one for the 720. I believe I did a video though showing use of their website with parts catalog and everything, you may want to look at that one, it may help.

@JoshsGreenGarage ok I've noticed that the x720 isn't mentioned much for some odd reason. Thank you!

Josh, when I used my machine after the fluid change I noticed a leak that I believe I traced to the overflow vent near the top of the transaxle. I assume I must have overfilled. However, if the level is within the hash marks, yet the vent is releasing fluid, would you suspect the vent is bad? Thanks for the video.
@JoshsGreenGarage

Do you have the rear PTO?

Yes

I said overflow vent, but it’s called the pressure relief valve.
@JoshsGreenGarage
@JoshsGreenGarage Год назад
Charge pressure relief valve at the front top side of the transaxle, PTO relief valve at the back top under the fill neck, or I assume you are probably talking about the large one on top to the right of the filler neck? The one labeled #12 on the parts catalog?... I don't think you could have that much that it would be pushing out way up there. Is there any chance you might have poured too fast when filling and some ran down the sides of the filler and worked it's way over? I doubt it is malfunctioning as it's job is to vent... I wish I knew more or had experience with this for you. Best I can say is watch this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5VidS1Seq6M.html Make sure your level is good. Clean as best you can around the vent, and then run it, preferably at varying grades and such to get the fluid moving a lot. Check the vent again, see if it is still letting fluid out, and go from there. I really wish I could do more for you. Keep me updated, I'd like to know how it goes.

Yes sir I was thinking the fluid was coming out of #12 on the diagram. I mow a very steep hill going up a down. When finished I headed up the driveway and noticed fluid dripping behind me and noticed the entire right side of the transaxle was wet. It was wet so high that I assumed the only place it would be coming out would be that vent. Thanks for the help!
