John Deere X758 Mowing 

Correct, I addressed that in the video description. I thought it functioned the same but couldn't get it to work. Something wasn't right with the right hand switch and it wasn't extending all the way. It works fine now and the RIO system is timed the same as the X748. We are up to almost 5 hours on the X758 now. Thanks for chiming in.

I'm with you there. I have a GX 345 that I can engage at idle. It has an electric clutch. I tried that on the X 758 but it doesn't like being engaged at low speed because it has a hydraulic clutch. I just know it seems to work best between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle but I haven't heard what other people do.

@Black Toof better get with John deere then in the owners operational manual it clearly states full throttle when engaging pto

I engage my pto on my cub full throttle. Bogs if you’re at low rmp. I’m at 102 hours not a problem yet. Full throttle all day.

Technical problems with the camera and editing software. There will be a couple more videos like that before the problem is corrected.

Generally I keep it between 3.25 and 3.75 depending on rain and season.

Everything is factory. No striping kit installed.

I mow grass commercial with x748 and x595. I couldn’t do what I do on hills with damn safety crap on

If you jump the RIO switch on the x730's you lose the ability to do diagnostics with the cluster or to show the engine RPM. Not sure if the diesel one will show rpm either

You have to feed it some pretty tall and dense grass to bog it down. The high capacity deck will take some pretty tall grass without asking too much. We haven’t been getting a lot of rain since I picked this X758 up in May 2021, just enough to keep the grass growing at times. I have had much of an opportunity to get a video of deep grass.

We like the X758. Turning radius is good. We use it as our “trim” mower. Is it a zero turn? No, but it can mow ditches and it’s a much smoother ride than a zero turn. If you don’t have a need to 4wd (snow blowing, hills, dirt work) the x754 should be a fine machine.

I had the 4 wheel steering. It cuts ruts around the trees. Traded for the 758. Love it and it holds its value reducing the actual cost of ownership

Zero turns are not my preference, I prefer multi-use machines. With that said, we have much faster methods of mowing. There are not a heap of videos on them on the channel, but most of the yard gets mowed with our front mount mowers (we've had 1435's, 1445, and the newest is the 1585 we bought last year). Zero turns are for trash lawns mowing 100 mph. Slower you go the better the cut.

No kit on the this X758. I think being early spring that year and how thick the grass was really helped.

Never lug a motor. Horrible for it.

Some of the models available overseas are amazing! I wish we had some of the options here. Even the simple things like the lighting packages make a huge difference. Some dealers can order parts and bits from the European models but not all of the parts.

@@mmrbeef we can put front pto and linkage on the front of our tractors here like flail mowers are very common here with 20 yrs yet its only the last 2 to 3 yrs i see them more with yer selfs yer demostic market must be trying to keep alot of things out

Just back and forth in straight lines. I don’t have a striping kit etc installed. Just a little patience with the straight lines.

Per the manual for the x758 for “engaging the PTO” 1) Reduce travel speed or stop machine. 2) After engine has warmed, move throttle lever up to maximum engine speed. 3) Pull PTO switch up. Instrument cluster PTO indicator comes on when PTO is engaged. Replacing the clutch in these wet clutch transmissions, even doing your own work, would cost a minimum of $300-750 depending on source of parts and number of parts needed. Low speed engagement of these wet clutch systems will cause excessive clutch plate chatter and significantly shorten the life of the clutch plates.

Just for my own personal curiosity, why before even trying it out? I know they are or seem like a pain but it’s all so second nature to me at this point, I don’t even think about it.

Yes the X758 is diesel powered.
