That is a beautiful place. I can see a Hallmark Movie being made there. The barn is so Awesome. I’m surprised the little Tractor pulls those mowers but it does a great job. A pleasure to watch. Thanks for sharing.
I have a 30 year old version of this woods bat-wing grooming mower.....I have consistently mowed 8 plus acres of lawn every week ......have even given it some abuse over the years mowing grass much too tall.....and it never fails to impress. Definitely got my money's worth😆
As an ex-lawn management company owner my recommendation would have been a double cut with the finish mower and triple cut on the grass where you had not mowed with the brush hog. We would have considered this a “new season” yard and would have charged 2x to 3x regular cut prices. Your friend is getting a great deal!
I’m not sure, honestly. This was ‘free’ for a friend. However, I would likely think in terms of hours and what equipment is used. Likely $500 or more per mowing to make any money.
@@markpaas I would have to walk the field but my SWAG price would have started at $500/cut. These types of jobs are not desirable because it takes to much time. You reach a point of diminishing returns where it is more profitable to cut small yards when clients are grouped together than a couple of big cuts like this which in my case would have been commercial accounts. I just gave a high estimate last summer to a client when I thought about starting up again. Thankfully they passed. I could have had the boys do 20 yards in a day and made $1300 instead of the $450 I quoted. Dodged a bullet on that one!
Your neighbors have a beautiful place, and the old barn sure brings back memories. The results are impressive and great work on the video work and voice over. Blessings.
Always love your implements you use, I tease my brother and call him Tim where he has so many implements for his 1025R lol that’s why I purchased a new 1025R that way I can use his implements and save me some money lol
I mowed out an old neglected hay field down the road from our farm for a realtor that was trying to market it as a farm which it was for many years until the owners got sick and eventually passed. I mowed it 3 weeks in a row with my batwing and then the fourth time with my finish mower. it looked really good. it was weekly mowings with the finish until sold and the new owners loved it. it was nice to see it return to a farm the new owners put some 4h calves and sheep on it after they built a fence.
I mow my fields with a JD4720 and 7 ft land pride FDR2584 finish mower once a month in the summer, it handles the tall grass amazingly well been mowing this way for 17 years, love to try one of these out to see how it would handle the fields
Nice work Tim. I have Really been enjoying the 3046R and your new batwing content. I really hope to see more. I love my batwing finish mower. I hope woods will send you some of there optional accessories to demonstrate on your batwing. Like front scalp rollers, chains, mulch kits. Etc etc. I have most of those options on mine. I just would love to see your take on them, especially the mulch kit. Keep up the great work TTWT Fam !!!.
That's impressive for a pull type bat-wing mower with the 18k fpm tip speeds which is really equivalent to a Zero Turn mower deck but here you got 3 of them in tow. Looks like it'd be too much mower for my 1025R so I'll have to keep putting on the miles with my Zero Turn on 4+ acres. Mowing the 1/3 rule, I bet it'd be awesome cut quality for large lawns.
Great video as always!! That looks like a yard I would say did a good job. I have a 6ft befco finish mower is prolly 12 or 14 years old it still makes prettiest yard I've ever saw an it will cut the taller stuff but I usually don't. Be interesting if you happen to run across one to compare with others. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun
Was looking forward to this. I mow about 15 acres of old pasture. Too many weeds and tough grasses to use this as a single pass solution. Would not have known this otherwise. Interesting that the very fast blades did not do better for tough weeds. I also thought that dried grass would disappear. Really appreciate what you do. I also admire some of you skills. You make some things look so easy that I know are not. Maybe it is really good editing? Best wishes to both of you.
Great video Tim .I mow about 8 Acres of field for the first cut of the season I like to Use the Bush hog Wait about 3 days then I will use my 0 turn mower just a little bit above what I cut it on the Bush hog and that will pick up the cut grass and cut it a lot finer not Leaving clumps of grass everywhere
Hey Tim, I love your videos keep them coming! You have inspired me to get a 2038R of my own. I have been playing with it for about a month now. You should try to run the woods finish mower behind Johnny 2! I would love to get a 10ft wing finish mower for mine but I’m curious of how it would handle it. Thank you for all your videos and the great content!
Congratulations! The Woods TBW12.20 is a 12' mower. I'm happy to try it on the 2038R. However, based on my experience in heavy grass with the 3046R (did you see it?) I'm afraid the 2038R will have quite a load with it. This time of year (late summer), when the grass is less thick, there will be no issue.
Looks nice Tim. Mowing Our 12 acre fields around the farm house. I've found mowing them a week before the 3 summer holidays Memorial day 4th and labor day. It's easier on tractor mower and burns less fuel. Fields have a finished lawn look! Little rain will green everything up nicely. Isn't that mowing the home owner model? Maybe not as heavy as their RD models.
It would be interesting to see a mulching kit on a mower like that... closed deck with mulching blades. It might need some additional baffles inside to increase the vacuum lifting affect... Maybe a "MowerX" in the future? 😉
I have a 17ft version of a very similar woods/frontier version. I had to go through a woods dealer to get my mulch kit or I should say the baffles. I got the mulch blades frame my dear dealer. The mulch blades alone were horrible , had to add the baffle/block off kit to make it work properly. I did cure my clippings issues and I do have a very nice cut quality. The only down side I seen, has been that I think I have still lost some lift. My tractor is heavy and since adding the complete mulch kit this season. I now have issues where the tractor ties press down the grass , and the mulch blades just simply don’t generate the lift the original blades had and it leaves a bit of a high spot wherever the tractor tires pressed it down. I solve that by over lapping to the cover one of tire tracks a second time. At 17ft wide it only adds 20 - 30 min to my mowing time. Where before with stock Oem blades and rear discharge same as Tim’s, I would typically have to mow it then mow it again crossing it up, just to dissipate the clippings. Which to do that took an extra 1.5 hours to mow it twice. By far the much kit has been a big plus, I think I just need to try some different blades with more lift. I think I may put my original blades on in combination with mulching baffle kits and see how that works together.
@@TractorTimewithTim Yea, mine had better lift without the much kit, however it would leave a mess of clippings and I would end up mowing twice to disburse all the clippings at least somewhat. I do prefer the cleaner mulch kit cutting as far as very minimal clippings. Now I find I am missing the lift I use to have for more even cut even where the tractor tires mashed down the grass ahead of the mower. I think I may leave the mulch shrouds on and put the old original blades back on.
Hey Tim, really enjoy your videos they’re so well put together. I heard you mention that you have rim guard in your tires, I also cut most of my grass with a 3046r and 3pt finish mower. I thought that keeping the tractor as light as possible may help with the cut quality behind the tractor tracks but you don’t seem too have any issues with it? A lot of my 15 acres is also uneven so the rim guard would help the ride quality too
The only thing a ‘light’ tractor helps with is less ‘ruts’ in early spring. Not only do I have Rimguard, I also have wheel weights. More weight makes your tractor more useful.
I would like to see u use the bigger verse the tbw17.40. I'm looking into buying this to use when I mow scales and rest area where I work and in charge of mowing.
You seem really comfortable on the 3046R. I'm considering upgrading my Kubota B2650 to a L3902. I love the 2650 for its capabilities as well as its nimbleness. I believe the L3902 will offer more capability with slightly less nimbleness. What I am looking for is more tractor heft (weight, hp & strength). Really like the L3560 features but the tractor is too big for what I want nor do I find the seating position very comfortable.
Consider the 3046r. It is physically the smallest and most nimble 45 hp tractor on the market. Turning radius amazing. It isn’t perfect, but it is a special machine.
Very nice showing of the batwing mower. The cut does look good especially at roughly 5-6 mph. I would imagine it’s Batman approved too! Lol Will look forward to Johnny x on the dyno. I’ll guess 33-35 pto hp. 👍
I like the quality of the RhinoAg equipment. Really have to hunt it down in my neck of the woods though. Priced at a premium but it’s worth it the build quality.
All the videos are edited so well...this one somehow just stands out for being especially so. Everything just looks so professionally seamless...how many hours did that take?
Would a mulch kit or rear chains helped on the 2nd cutting ? Would be interesting to see you use this mower with a mulch kit and see what results you get.
@@TractorTimewithTim I totally get that. I catch myself calling John Deeres flex wing cutters BatWings and do get corrected. I just think the name TurfWing sounds cool since Woods calls their flex wing cutters Batwing mowers. I have a BW15.50 and love it.
With all the cuttings, you’ll need to run over all the cut grass 3-4 times. It’s the same as mowing a yard with a zero turn and wanting to eliminate any cuttings.
It doesn't look like a barn yard any more. I wonder what it would look like if it was mowed the opposite direction 180° around... try that at home... have a great weekend.....
Before you mentioned that a dealer brought your TBW mower out as a demo. I've been trying to do the same, get a demo to see if it will work for me on a property that has side hills. I believe we live close to each other so I was curious which dealer brought it out as a demo for you.
Hey Tim, I've got 3 acres of lawn. Formerly a hay field. Had some low spots that I've installed field tile over the last 35 years. The property drains nicely but with all of the work I've done here over the many years it sure is awfully rough. Any good way to smooth it out? I have only a 1023.
Hey Tim: had a question about transporting these bat wing style mowers. I realize the outer decks pivot up, but doesnt that make it too heave to lift when loading it on a trailer? Id love to see how you get them on and off a goose neck trailer.
I've come across one of these mowers about a year old someone wants to sell, at a good price, do you think a 40 hp tractor will pull it ok. I have a couple pretty good hills in one field I'lll be cutting with it. Thanks
I don’t think it would work well in heavy grass…it pulled the 3046r pretty hard in the early spring. Did you see that episode? It would work fine in late summer grass. I would consider stepping up to L4701 or L4060.
Looks like the center deck really accumulates a lot of clippings! Wonder if a shield could be made to divert them, but I guess if they're dry you can blow them off easily with a leaf blower. I made the mistake of leaving wet clippings on the deck of my Woods RD990-X and it rusted it - never again!
@@TractorTimewithTim Duh! I forgot that I would be normally raising the deck before pulling into my metal building! When I get my TBW12.20, guess I'll just have to remember to raise the decks in an area where I don't care about a pile of cut grass falling off!
I am not sure I am as impressed as you are on the overall cut quality here. I think your ZTR might do better as a finish mower. Keep up the good work sir. 😁👍
@@TractorTimewithTim been in the pital twice now. had my prostate done and then started passing blood clots, so dr went back up inside and burnt the ends off that was bleeding. back home for now with a cather still in for a while. glad to hear from uns too.
I haven’t tried it yet. It would handle it in light grass, but watch our earlier video showing the 3046r with it in heavy grass. No way the 2038r would have handled it there.
It makes you wonder if they are goina start opening this as a wedding venue? Seems like a lot of trouble for just a graduation party but all these people will be having their "first" wedding soon. :) My wife and I were married in 1986 after dating through college. People ask what's the secret to staying married? I just say I'm not making that mistake again as she rolls her eyes. The not so secret tip is pray that God will send you the person you should be with and He will. She was doing the same thing but I still think God liked me best !
Why is it so that nobody knows how to mow tall grass? always start mowing on your highs setting on your mower. then lower your mower again so you're not making windrows. do this over and over until you get to the height you are seeking.
