I found hin just like you around that age. His voice and lyrics and Bob Dylan's too made me realize how wonderful music can be. Cheers! P.S. I am turning 24 this december.
I was a lowly dishroom worker at Harrah's casino in Stateline, Nevada when John Denver was performing there. He walked through the dishroom just to say "Hi" to us workers. He was so popular, the shows immediately sold out. He put on a special 3 am show free for all the workers and convinced Frank Sinatra to sing a few songs also. A genuine, nice human being.
When I was a kid, I would roller skate on our patio to this very song. I love his music. Another was taken from us way too soon. Music is the reason I'm still alive today.
John Denver is Exceptional, a wonderful songwriter and an amazing human being who cared for others , space travel and the environment so much I will miss him forever RIP John❤
What a treat to hear John Denver covering others songs and giving them his expression! Good job on harmonizing with Baez which seems a challenge given the differences in their voices.
He is the one of best, thing is he was not as commercialy know as Elvis or the Beatles. His music was a love for his country for nature around him, and he always stood as a humble and kind human being. An example of what a human must be.
John Denver was an established lyrical songwriter/ poet when I was taking baby steps in the 70' s to start writing poetry and playing guitar. He was a great inspiration. I am so proud of his timeless music. I enjoyed watching him in his movie with George Burns " Oh God! ". Besides the timeless treasures of his ..well written songs, John Denver was also blessed with a very soothing and string vocal cords. He will continue to stay as my best male vocalist / songwriter in my book. I for one, I hope many others, too will keep his music forever in our hearts. Amy Estrada
It's nice to hear...I met him in 1986 in Ireland Kerry he was just fishing...nice man I passed him not knowing who he was I was fishing with my son on the same river by the time we left ,we got acquainted he was just a really nice person..
And he had the most beautiful laugh. Though I don't remember hearing his laugh in his later (90's) years. Sadly, I never got to attend any of his concerts or heard him on the radio or tv during the height of his career. So now I'm playing "catch up" to the most amazing singer & songwriter I've ever heard.
I am just discovering John Denver after noticing him in Carpenters video on RU-vid. JD was acting there in a parade group with Karen Carpenter and Karen wanted to change John's big drum into her Klockenspiel. First, John was reluctant but after a kiss from Karen the instruments changed their owners! So in that video these two legends can be seen and heard. 🤩 I believe John and Karen had a lot of common features.
I loved John Denver, he had it all, and the voice, it ended way too early, reaching for that Rocky Mountain High, we climbed with him, so sad so sudden an end
July 15, 2024, Monday. Philippines. My wife and I drove to Manila to watch the concert of John Denver. When I was rushing my MSc Biology thesis in the UWat (University of Waterloo) in the spring of 1977, I listened to songs by John Denver on a cassette tape played in a tape player I borrowed from Dr. Tamas Hamor, my officemate in the third floor of the Biology building. Thank you, Tamas!
It is a [expletive deleted] shame that this man is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even Joan Baez finally make it in 2017. And the talent on stage at the end? O M G!
I wonder if they let country music singers in the rock & roll hall of fame. I guess JD wasn't really a rock & roller. Maybe he's in the country music hall of fame.
Beautiful voice, a real gift. 10 years since my husband passed away and I'm listening to all the music when listened to together. Met my gorgeous man at a country music event. Wish I could have those days back again. But at least I have memories.
His music always reminds me of my childhood. I saw him live once in Toronto. Gordon Lightfoot sang with him. He had three guitars on stage with him and that’s it. His music will live on forever.
@@andrerieumaastricht9811 Are you his son? If you are, you just made my day. Your father's music was outstanding. He is remembered by so many and will be for all time. Thanks again for responding.

This is music for adults who listen to words which mean something and are mature enough to appreciate it, I have loved John's music for over 50 years and thank God for his wonderful musical legacy
I was an avid fan could never afford to see him live, my first dance at my wedding to my late husband was Perhaps Love with Placido Domingo. This songs make me smile and cry bringing back so many memories
A magic , memory and a great song ! god bless , keep safe , in this sad world as it is at the moment ! ritchie . p.s. Johns songs are so welcomed today ! .
I get goosebumps every time I see something I've yet to see and hear from this magnificent human being ..... this made me love and miss him even more !!! ~ 💚💜💛💙
John Denver was perhaps the ONLY person who could tackle 'A Day In A Life' and not look stupid. I miss him. And also, I'm in fucking tears. We tried back then. We tried. It is never ending.
How true. He was a remarkable man - so far ahead of his time and yet so timeless because everything he was passionate about all of those years ago is even more important today - love, empathy, compassion, the preservation of this planet. And he did it (taught us) all so gracefully and humbly.
Yeah, we tried. We lost so much and wanted it never to happen again. From that year to now, mostly not raw terrible, but hope lingered until right now. I guess we still hope, but we've added pure dread to our storehouse of emotions, not just for ourselves but for all beings from here forward. I do hope rebirth is real and that we can, if we choose, come back as bodhisattvas, and do our best to help reconcile humanity, and thus all beings, back to a natural and peaceful state. Shanti.
Being newly retired I’ve rediscovered John. Regret never seeing him live. But these vids on RU-vid are things we can’t see anywhere else. Very very handsome and of course wonderful voice,
Retired Stitcher I was fortunate enough to see him 4 times. Once was a free concert with the Boston Pops at the Lincoln Memorial, I think in 1985. I was a teenager and dragged a friend of mine because I was a bit apprehensive to go into the city on my own. Another time was Earth Day 1990. Though I never met him, I truely miss this remarkable being in our world.
I'm 25 (so the younger side of the Millenials) and have been listening to this music all my life but just recently have been appreciating how phenomenal it is. I know a lot of my friends listen to this too because we know music nowadays surely isn't as good as it used to be :)
But they do sometimes! My teens were having a party. It started off all rap and drum and bass. By the time it ended they were all singing along to Country Roads. I didn't even know they knew the song. Discovering my teenage son loved John Denver too was a happy moment!
@@jasonjones5874 Good wishes from Southern California. I'm ok. Thanks for asking. Not affected much through all of this. I'm agoraphobic so staying in is normal for me. I feel sorry for those folks who lost their jobs and for the ppl who weren't used to staying at home. Here businesses are beginning to open up again part way. And ppl are good about using masks and keeping their distance. Where do you live? How are yiu doing?

John was a magical , wonderful guy ! and as with so many people he helped along the way , in my case it was with deprestion ,and he had just arrived in london , and in his special way he picked up on it , and he gave his flight landing card , to enter uk ,to me, it was written in his proper name , giving his address ,/ occupation etc , and then, he sighed it to me with the words peace john denver .this gift has stayed with me , ever since , and now has pride of place in my studio , in france , a true friend and his words of keep faith with your innerself , and your dreams will come true !magic , cheers john , ritchie .
I waited so many years to hear them sing together as they are my two favorite male and female singers.....their voices sound just as I thought they would together :)
She seems a tad distant though...where as he is entirely warm toward her....given her affliction with stage fright her whole life....it might have been that I am reading her wrong....but I also know her kind of men were generally like him at all...he was way too nice for her kind of guy. She did date Stills however and he was way nicer than Dylan :)
1970 JOHN ALTERED MY LIFE.......THAT WAS AN AMAZING MEETING FOR BOTH OF US........I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU JOHN....YOU GAVE ME THE EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME.... LOVE YOU...... I MISS YOU... STILL......🙏🙏🙏🙏👼👼👼💛💙💜❤🌏🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Good for Joan Baez to perform with John Denver. To me both are legends and just genuinely real people. Not perfect but I have the deepest respect for both of them. This is the 1st time I've seen this. Actually made me feel good! Cheers to all!
Lovely to see this.Still miss John.Gone too young.I honestly think John Lennon would have felt honoured that John chose to sing A day In the Life...Many beautiful songs from John..some littered with inuendo's about drugs...oh yess..!! he was no angel on that front.A great singer and songwriter.
Wow, my curiosity regarding John Denver led me to this post, and I never knew he sang a duet with Joan Baez along with the rest. Too bad "they" didn't have him sing with the "We Are the World" crowd, they really missed the best element for that group. RIP John Denver!
John Denver made me visit his gallery in Denver. I could hear him singing Starwood in Aspen and all the others. To this day my eyes tears just by listening to his music. Rest in heavenly bliss JD loved cherished and missed forever.
John Denver had an excellent voice ... great diction (why bother singing if you’re unable convey the words...) ... He also seemed like a decent human being who lived a good life. What a gift to us to have had him sing to us.
Decency is not choking his wife, cutting their bed in half, getting multiple DUI's and die in a plane that he wasnt allowed to fly due to drinking issues and law breaking.
Thank you M masassa, you legend. To me John Denver is the most talented of all singers, songwriters, guitarists and the most kind man from the world of music. I have seen probably all of your postings of Johnny D (I call him that affectionately) and am always grateful to you for doing it. John was such a generous soul and wanted to end world hunger and care for the environment on top of all his other achievements. My favourite video is the Live at the Apollo in London concert, with The Bells of Rhymney in particular showing his incredible skills. I did see him perform twice Sydney in the 80's and feel so lucky that I saw him live. I wasn't a huge fan at the time, just went out of curiosity and was awestruck at the ease with which he appeared to sing perfectly in tune for every single note. He must have been working hard on stage but made it appear like second nature; a walk in the park. So when he came back not long after I felt compelled to take my parents, siblings and closest friends with me to see him again, and bought about ten tickets. My father, who was a musician himself, was not too keen to go but after the concert he was also enthralled at John's talent.
I went to a church where the pastor played 60’s and 70’s folk music, and a staple was John Denver. I watch his videos and hear his songs and it brings a tear to my eye. Tears for a kinder, simpler time. Thank you for posting.
The songs he sang during my high school & college days which brought unforgettable memories. One of a kind singer that never be forgotten. You're always in our heart & mind. RIP
Quiero agradecer la oportunidad de escuchar por RU-vid a este gran cantante de música country, lo he escuchado durante toda mi vida, aun después después de que el ya no estaba, Nos dejó su grandioso legado!!! Gracias John Denver!!
gross. john denver is a great soul, should not sing with those two. John is making the world better. Most media entertainment is gross, trashing children and causing chaos confusion a destruction. WE need millions of great humans like the folk singers who were saving animals, nature, mother earth and saving the world.
