I remember teenage me at Macy's when they 1st opened to run through like a maniac to their ticketmaster and still only getting crappy seats. Later in life I worked in a field where I could get free tickets to pretty much any show or sporting event I wanted. The only person I still stood in line for was John Denver, because I wanted to be closer down front. I'll never forget when I finally got my 1st front row seat and the idiot ticket master guy said " do you want front row or do you want me to put you farther back." I had literally waited my entire for that ticket!! He tried to tell me the sound was a bit better few rows ack. I pointed out that I had a great sound system and every album and CD he ever made at home, and get me that blasted front of ticket now!

You are right!! John Denver didn’t have a bad song. His voice was so distinct. You knew immediately that is was him when a new song came out. He truly was amazing. But, he died doing what he loved most, flying his plane. What a great loss for music. It’s so wonderful that the younger generation can appreciate his greatness. He was truly one of a kind. The soundtracks of my life. Unfortunately, when I hear his unbelievable voice and songs, it makes me wonder why I settled in life, and not waited for what was best for me. I’m glad you enjoyed the wonderful soundtracks of my life!

I"m a Colorado native... I've never found anywhere else I'd like to live so I've never left! I love this homage to my beautiful state. He's singing about himself. He was born in the summer of his 27th year refers to when he came here he felt born again. He loved it here so he stayed. I've seen it rain and fire in the sky is about the storms he witnessed. There's nothing like walking through the forest with the peace and serenity and the occasional sight of an eagle, deer or other spectacular wildlife.

@Donna Hendricks Actually "I've seen it raining fire in the sky" was based on the Perseid meteor showers. Very specifically 1 year when he Annie and friends were up camping and a star went by so close you could almost touch it and hear it. He's told the story many times it's magical you should listen to it And I'm jealous of you! it's such a beautiful state! I finally made it to Aspen during the Perseids, and of all times it was a full moon and worst viewing in .years Still a fabulous trip!

One of the two signature songs from John's career (along with Take Me Home Country Road). Another of the great 70s singer/songwriters (and actor) who left us much too soon. This is one of the great chill-out songs of all time. This was about his own visit and then move to Aspen, Colorado, and how much he fell in love with his adopted state. He would end up living there for the rest of his life.

His song 'Leaving on a Jet Plane' was a preshadowing of his actual death as he crashed his newly acquired personal jet into the ocean as it ran out of fuel. he walked with us a short time but he made music that will last for as long as music is enjoyed in this world. Thanx for that Jayvee. Your a good man.

John Denver is one of my all-time favourite performers you just can't get enough of John Denver when you hear him. He makes you feel oh so happy. Try the song (grandmother's feather bed), you'll be surprised at how it sounds. Also try these songs of his - follow me - Take Me Home Country Roads - Leaving on a Jet Plane - thank God I'ma Country Boy - I'm sorry - sweet surrender - back home again - goodbye again - sunshine on my shoulders - Annie's Song (he wrote this song about his wife after having a fight with her and leaving for ski weekend, when he came back he had the song written about her) - Fly Away (with Olivia Newton-John) - the eagle and the hawk - Garden song - calypso ( a song he wrote about Jacques Cousteau the undersea Explorer and his research boat, the boat was also named calypso) - Shanghai Breeze. - flying for me (After the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986 with teacher Christa McAuliffe aboard, Denver dedicated his song "Flying for Me" to all astronauts from then on)

Had the pleasure of seeing him in concert. Half way thru the concert, the band took a break while John stayed on stage and continued to sing, with his acustic guitar. Absolutely magick

I recommend "Rhymes and Reasons", "Goodbye Again", "Cowboy's Delight", "For Baby (For Bobby)", "Love Is Everywhere", "Calypso" and my personal favorite "The Eagle and the Hawk". Glad you like John so much, he was an amazing songwriter that I'm glad I got to hear while growing up in the 1970s. The world lost a great person and soul when he passed away.

John was so spiritual, everything he sang reached into your heart because you understood exactly what he was saying and could relate to it. It was very sad, the way John died, but he died living his dream. RIP John Denver, your crystal voice is added to the choir of angels in Heaven.

When I hear him sing it takes me to the mountains in Alberta, the freshness of the cool air filled with the aroma of pine, spruce, and walking on the soft needles of the evergreens. The scent of the clear icy waters rushing fast through the rocks. The call of the loon in the distance with rippling streams you can hear for miles. The slow silent walking deer and elk in the trees just feet away from me. The black velvet sky with the stars so prolific it took like torches flaming in the distance. The smell of wood smoke and the sound of a crackling fire.

You would love Rocky Mountain Suite, then. "Up in a meadow in Jasper, Alberta Two men and four ponies on a long, lonesome ride". I've never been there but this song makes me feel that I have.

What a voice. I’m 41 and I grew up every year listening to John Denver & The Muppets🎄A Christmas Together album on vinyl. John Denver’s songs are so beautiful!! I actually cry now listening to his Noel song on there. ?! I really appreciate him now that I’m older. I still have that vinyl. I cherish that and all the memories. 👍🏼👍🏼

I grew up in Kansas and when we went to Colorado on trips and whatever, we'd put this song on. I know many love going out there to ski but I prefer hitting the mountains in the summer. Beautiful, some of my family lived out there and nephew/cousins still do. Gorgeous place to hang out. John's voice was always so melodic and peaceful, loved how he kept care of the earth, I can relate to that very much, one of my purposes here.
