John was a very special and precious human being...he died far too young. Miss him and his music very much.

This song has been one of my favourite John Denver songs since I first heard it. It's just perfect for John's voice and Bill Danoff's lyrics are quite brilliant. I miss that John is no longer around to fight for the environment, through his amazing songs. But his music goes on and the young people find it - and so it goes on. A fitting legacy to the young. Thanks John Meek for putting this up.

To Jmm1929. 1st thanks for these awesome JD vids. That said, I most respectfully couldn't disagree w/you more about a few things. I saw MANY sold out, magical concerts during the era you say his career was over. Not only did he never sound better, but many of us fans were still right there. Had he lived I have no doubt he would have had more success. And I believe he & ALL those who died, can feel our love. I'd need a lot more space to go into that, but I really think u have this wrong.

I agree with you jmm, that although the decline in John's career was hard on him, he had a brilliant career and a life full of adventure. I believe he understood that toward the end and had come to peace with it. A brilliant song by your friend Bill. Thanks for posting this version.

I dont weep for him I weep for myself,hes happy now but I still exist in this place and it makes me feal like a sad song!

Let us not weep for John who no longer knows who loves and cares for him. Yes, he had no record contract at the time of his death and "Potter's Wheel" never got much airplay. But, one of his last gigs which is on youtube he sang at a birthday party for the wife of some megarich cat for I think $250,000. Even if his estate lost a fortune with Madoff, the royalty checks still roll in. He had a great life, I treasure our long friendship, and time marches on.

Although Denver was dropped form RCA he then did his own music via his recording company . Unheard of then for a major recording star. A few years later major artists like Prince did the same, citing his record company as not in the best inrerests of his music. Then the start the internet as a world wide market that anyone can sell on, a new door to an artists music opened. Denver sang at a private party but so many major artists do it all the time, it is a great payday for a few hours work.

Wow! He sang a song about kids and God and values! The left must be losing their collective mind!
