I read an interview with John in which he said that he thought this was absolutely one of the best songs he'd ever written, and I have to agree - I think this song is just killer! Thanks for the post!
Not sure where you saw that. In 1997 or 98 when he finally played it live, he called it and i’,m paraphrasing it,” an underground bootleg song”. I dont think he realized how great t ‘‘twas because the wasn’t a hot. but man, his original recording is one of the best songs ever
@@therazband3007 Not sure where I saw that either - it was a long time ago. But I distinctly remember being thrilled to hear him say it because it meant that he loved this song as much as I do. I think it's worthy of going down in history as a perfect all-American song - much like, say, a Hank Williams number. And yes, at the Premonition concert he did say that it was (NOT paraphrasing) 'not well known, kind of a cult bootleg item'. But I took that to mean that it was a song that he knew his hardcore fans loved from 20 years before when it was released, and not because he didn't think it was one of his best written songs ever. Tons of artists have songs they thought were destined to be big hits but weren't for one reason or another. I think this is his. Which is too bad because I agree with you - it's one of the best songs ever.
Glad that he loves this song, too! When I wrote to him around 1994 and got my "Centerfield" cassette liner autographed by him, I told him that "Almost Saturday Night" and "Rockin' All Over the World" were my absolute favorite songs of his.
Been to a few concerts in my life, but to this day the best one was seeing Fogerty's Premonition tour at Montage Mountain in Scranton Pa-God bless John Fogerty.

I met John backstage at a Connecticut show in '97, thanked him for writing this song, my favorite, and asked could he add it to the setlist next time he came around. He said "Sure!" And he did. I'll take full credit(j/k). Thanks for posting this!
Still a sexy guy at the ripe age of 56 in this video! He's been my no 1 favourite artist for the last 35 years, there's no one like him. I was fortunate enough to see him live in 1998 and that was one of the highlights in my life, a dream come true, I hope I'll get to see him once more before he retires!
@ShockDoc I tend to agree. For years I assumed Dave Edmunds wrote the song. His version rips, and while I admire John Fogerty, Dave's delivery and production really add some polish. Too bad his version isn't here to compare.
I've heard this song before on the Premonition video -- there is something wrong with this video -- the sound comes out of one speaker, not both... and the sound does not line up with singing (I read lips)... I love the song,, but I honestly can't really enjoy this video with these flaws... sorry, John!
