Jhon became better looking in his late 40s 50s.His face filled out. But it's irrelevant how he looked because he was and still is Brilliant. I'm proud to say he grew up about 25 miles north of me in El Cerrito. I grew up in Hayward.
Saw John Fogerty tonight in Abbotsford, B.C.....AMAZING! He is still a powerhouse after all these years. Not like some musicians that have been around a long time & you can hardly recognize their songs. Fogerty's still sound great & he fully engages the audience- had everyone in Abby singing along! Really personable & full of energy. I think my favorite part was when he played the harmonica!
Whats wrong with Larry? I can remember listening to him late at night on an am transistor radio in 1968, while he was interviewing Phillis Diller. It was a treat to hear far away radio stations come in clearly late a night. Larry King is nastaligia at it's best. Long Live John Fogerty!
My BF and I just happened to come accross this interview because I have been searching the internet for everything and anything on John.....He is a God to the music industry and I have deep respect for him and my BF also loves his music and we love him as a musician and also he is a very nice person...Can't wait to see him at the "Sony Centre" on September 14th........
John Fogery is my go to place for that year of 69 I luv the group. I didn't know he was not form the Bayou's of Louisiana cause Louisiana LUV's Creedence Clearwarter :) he fit right in and connect well :)
Hey this is Larry King! he is on, doing his thing, at his best! bringing out the best, the goods on Creedence, it's wonderful to know this stuff! Larry is there, right on at his best! and John is here like a modest, ordinary guy, how did he get into the stratosphere, two legends, I am happy to discover RU-vid 40 years after the 60's, alright, so they won't ever be forgotten
Saw him a few years ago at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Me and my girl in our 40's and more, and all these younger people, dancing around, screaming, "Fogerty is an Animal!". Warmed the cockles.
Larry is as much a legend as the great John Fogerty. But in media as Fogerty is in music. When I was little and heard CCR the first time, I thought he was a black guy from Louisiana or something like that. No racial thing here. I loved them then and still do. Little did I know he was a white guy from California!!
Yeah, all us "hippies" thought that CCR was from Louisiana or Mississippi or Alabama or some such place. When we found out that they were from Northern California we were amazed!
Yes, tomthfunky, you did, directly address a point another commenter made. And to be humble about it, and respectful, you were far kinder in your reply to my reply than I was in commenting about your comment. I thank you for that. You did, though, insert politics onto a public thread, did you not? People do comment on whichever comment they choose, no? I apologize, for you do seem a gentleman, maybe a proper southern one. For real. I just got irked, regarding Fog, who we ALL seem to love-peace
the7train. I will give you that one, concerning his brother. I don't think either one of us really knows exactly what went on between the two of them. In a lengthy interview, John does talk about his relationship with Tom not being good concerning the contract, that is a shame. This whole discussion is concerning you backing up Stu, Tom & Cliff in regards to the contract deal, and I say that John, being the main writer deserves much more than the others. It's just the way the music business is.
I directly addressed a point another commenter made. I would appreciate if you did the same by addressing my point directly instead of just creating an unrelated argument out of thin air. Thanks.
Fogerty underrated? I'd say he's currently revered as a great American songwriter/singer/guitarist. He still has his voice and energy and looks. He had years, maybe even decades, of legal problems with his former record producer over rights to the songs and a precedent-setting lawsuit for plagerizing himself related to the songs Run Through the Jungle and Old Man Down the Road. Court ruled you can't plagerize yourself.
@castletriglav Points taken. From a proficiency standpoint, you can't argue that John WAS CCR. He's as good a bassist as Stu, but Doug is a kick-ass drummer (sorely missed on CENTERFIELD). I'm one of the few out there who likes MARDI GRAS, and I think both Doug and Stu's songs are pretty good. Why not allow the two off them (or Tom) to occasionally contribute a song to an album. John couldn't give up two or three tracks out of ten? Lennon and McCartney did. Sting did.
I'm sorry, but Larry King is a brutal interviewer. No preparation whatsoever. In the first 2 minutes, he asks questions for which he should have known the answer with basic research. He didn't know the origin of the band's name, how old Fogarty was when it was formed, where he's from, the band's first hit. Oh, come on. That's basic, basic stuff.
Well he's old. He doesn't even leave fingerprints anymore. His dick fell off in 1987. His first pet was a dinosaur. He was wearing adult diapers before Columbus went to the New World. His first car was the first car. He helped build the Ark.
@*59dhl*, most interviewers know most of their guests background, but they still ask what they already know, because their audience may not. I certainly did not know why John named his band CCR, and I have been an admirer of John incredible talent and of his voice for years now, my Dear God *THAT VOICE!!!*
@Guitarocktab Thats NOT true CCR is (was) from Berkeley, Californa not fom clearwater Florida my dad was from Fort Lauderdale and a big fan from CCR and he sad they from California and i was looking at google they are from California
Hahaha..Larry King just came out of a cave to conduct this interview, "now... you play the guitar? hmmm...interesting...what's that like? Now..are you a hip hop act?" Glad he's retired. Long live the Fogerty!!
Thanks Nun Ya, but you're wrong again. I'm a born and raised New Yorker. I live in Queens. I'm a gentleman, but I'm not a "proper southern one". I'm a Yankee, Nun Ya.
the7train. I am not going to defend Johns personality. It's possible that he is not Mr. Sunshine. I was just commenting on the record deal that really cost all of them money, and usually screws the writers. I personally think that they all made mistakes. Usually young musicians make really bad decisions concerning record deals. About the only big name band that I can come up with right this moment is Zeppelin. They did very well concerning their record deal. I am bowing out of this discussion.
So similar to PF (Phil)SLOAN s story, he was songwriting 1957 to about 67....he was used n abused n stolen from by dunhill records. Phil made them wealthy.
WHY DON'T YOU TELL US JOHN ABOUT THE SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES THAT ARE IN YOUR SONGS LIKE WALK ON THE WATER WERE IF YOU SLOW DOWN THE SONG YOU CAN HEAR THE LORDS PRAYER .
He was born in a red state. Back when California was the reddest state in the union and the richest. Now it's the bluest state in the union and the brokest.
Stu, Doug and Tom didn't write, produce or have a hand in managing the band for one reason: JOHN WOULDN'T LET THEM. Due to John's egregiously bad business dealings, he screwed himself and the rest of the band out of loads of money, then proceeded to blame pretty much every one but himself for it. Saul Zaentz is a prick, but frankly so is John Fogerty. That doesn't mean he isn't a genius when it comes to writing and performing songs.
