John Fogerty in conversation with David Wild
discussing his memoir, "Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music"
John Fogerty is one of rock’s most influential musicians and writers. He was songwriter, lead singer, and lead guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival and has been named one of the 100 Greatest Singers and one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists by Rolling Stone and his most recent album was named one of Rolling Stone‘s 10 Best Albums of 2013.
Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the most important and beloved bands in the history of rock, and John Fogerty wrote, sang, and produced their instantly recognizable classics: “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Born on the Bayou,” and more. In his memoir, he reveals how he brought CCR to number one in the world, eclipsing even the Beatles in 1969. By the next year, though, Creedence was falling apart; their amazing, enduring success exploded and faded in just a few short years.
Fortunate Son covers Fogerty’s Northern California roots, through Creedence’s success and the retreat from music and public life, to his hard-won revival as a solo artist who finally found love.
David Wild is an Emmy-nominated television writer, a best-selling author, a Contributing Editor for Rolling Stone, and a blogger for Huffington Post.

He does tend to waffle on a lot. I saw a shorter interview with him and one thing struck me , his consistency about dates and stories. He looks amazing for 76 .

We attended a Fogerty concert last night 7/21/23.. He still has it and his sons were amazing but it brought tears to my eyes to watch the group of men in front of me (obvious Vietnam Vets) come to life and sing along to Fortunate Son!❤❤a humble man and has touched more souls than he will ever know. Thank you to the entire Fogerty Family

Love this interview, I've watched it many times and always learn something new about you❤ I truly believe God made you a Musical Genius to help the World 🌎 and Individuals express themselves through you‼️‼️ And you are not outrageous eating bats. Or having snakes or gators as props on stage or wearing scary makeup. You come on stage in jeans, a plaid shirt and a smile on your face, YOU are us, the coal miner, auto worker, teacher.... You write songs about us !!! YOU are that MUSICAL GENIUS who is one of us. YOU HAVE IT ALL, but you are the coal miner , teacher ‼️‼️❣️🙏🏽 That's. Just One Reason why I Love your music and have the utmost Respect for YOU,🙏🏽❣️‼️🌎🌠your fan always Rita ❣️🙏🏽 but

You are so right about the Viet Nam saga. Remember that we were essentially sending kids and unlike today it was via a draft. There was the deferment for being a student so the richer kids could afford college and the poor kids not. Your sound meant so much!!!

the other 3 had no value to Saul. publishing and ownership is what it's all about. but I've seen a few CREEDENCE/FOGERTY podcasts and docs, and it becomes clearer that they all 4 failed to make a decent deal when they were young and naive. old story. the only thing missing is they're not black.

I don’t dig the interviewer’s puffed up questions, which are very typical of certain music and “culture” writers. Fortunately for us Fogerty could talk to a bullfrog and sound intelligent.
