Did you listen to CCR his last album it was complete garbage John was losing his voice and you can tell them other guys just weren't into it so you can blame everything on the other guys but I think the drugs and the egos in the disagreements made them collapse and that's me I'm a musician
Tom, John only sang lead on 4 of the 10 songs on their last release. Sweet Hitchhiker is still one of my favorites; didn't sound to bad on the other 3 he sang either.

It will change anyone. Money is power. Those band member where in for the money. ALL bands love playing live and at times for free cause it was about music. Once u signed a contract the love of music is gone and it's replaced with money. The Beatles loved playing and had fun. Once Brian died there were managers after them. Paul was the one that was interested in the money not the music anymore. Paul's wife family had money and Eastman and kodac wanted a piece. Mandortory songs and records. John didn't want his band to be run by a members family was interest in allen Klein as manager. Paul didn't get his way so he quit the beatles.. John said fuck it. I'm in love and just wanna live with what he got.

Susan Bishop I agree that he was the band. He has every right to be hurt and angry. But there comes a time you have to move on. They did wrong but you got to forgive and move on. They did John wrong but they also didn’t commit the Manson murders either. Forgive them but have little to do with them.
What good did it do them? The band was broken up and they weren’t making anything new! Keeping the rights wasn’t as valuable as selling them. John wanted to avoid this they should have make keeping the rights more valuable. Running he band and life on some hippie principal that doesn’t put food on the table doesn’t work! And while I’ve enjoyed John’s solo career very much, it is a different sound altogether than CCR…even when he performs a CCR song…it sounds like a John Fogerty cover of a CCR song…not a CCR song. They were part of the DNA of CCR. Don’t get me wrong…a John Fogerty cover of ANYBODY’S song is probably gonna be great, but it’s not CCR. Maybe you listen to it differently. Maybe you only listen to his voice and his guitar, and you don’t appreciate THEIR smooth and cohesive presence in the songs but you are missing something really nice.
I read John's autobiography, what a whiner! He spent over half the book crying aboutZaentz, and the other half putting down his brother Tom along with Doug and Stu. Then plays the rr hall of fame with Springsteen. I lost a lot of respect for him.

Bands have disputes, it's normal. And as for grudges, well that's his right to carry it for as long as he wishes. John dealt with a lot from both Fantasy AND his own band for decades. Not sure why you'd take it personally though, other than he's your idol. He can still be an idol without caring too much about his personal disputes. I watched Mr.Fogerty on a HBO or something special,this guy played for a solid two and half hours,excellent show,he has written some brilliant songs.John is one of the best guitar players I’ve ever seen too,perfect timing,he makes it look effortless.

I don't know why he "feels" they betrayed him. They DID betray him. In reality, CCR was nothing but Fogerty and three studio musicians. He has been as successful without them as he was with them.
One of the "three studio musicians" was the guy's brother, so they had a pretty close relationship before either guy picked up a guitar. And what does their talent level have to do with betrayal? I don't see a connection between the two
I mean I think the other guys were clearly in the wrong but it’s dumb to write them off like that. They were all great musicians and put 100% into the records even if John was the creative force. He even said they made decisions unanimously, and publicity for the band was never focused on one guy over the other three, it was all four. The other guys may have been ungrateful and resentful but they’re still CCR. I think it’s almost selling themselves short that they were so much more integral to the band than they’ve let on over the years of calling John a dictator. Saying they did nothing almost gives them what they want.

The last album he gave them the opportunity to write, and sing their own songs, and it was their worst album. Which goes to show who was responsible for their success.
Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, & Doug Clifford were no question great musicians, and they no doubt contributed mightily to the success of Creedence Clearwater Revival. But every rock music fan, and of course every true CCR fan knows John C. Fogerty was the true musical genius of the band. He played it all.... lead guitar, rhythm guitar, saxophone, piano, organ, blues harp, and of course, lead AND backing vocals on their recordings. With the exception of several songs, he also wrote the entire CCR catalog. The final CCR album was THE only album that had songs written & sung by someone other than John Fogerty.... and where those particular songs weren't bad, they were nowhere near the level that Fogerty had established. IMO, only one song from the album, "Sweet Hitch-Hiker", which actually had been recorded the previous year, 1971, was worthy of being put on a 45 rpm OR and album.🎸
'Tomorrow never comes' was the other great song on 'Mardi Gras' it's the only song from that era John still plays live. Although even he says he wished he worked on it more but didn't want to spend more time that he had to with the others. Also while Doug is a good drummer Stu isn't a great bass player. He keeps time but that's it. Anything more than playing the root in time on the records is John or Tom.
Doug was a great drummer. John taught Tom to play guitar (he sang but didn't play) and Stu to play bass (he was a piano player). I suspect, at times, it was only John and Doug on some tracks.
@@Djarra , that was a shitty thing for John to say, but also, frankly, I’m glad that John DIDN’T spend more time mucking about with the song and changing it into something longer or more complicated. It came out the way it SHOULD be, in my opinion, and it’s a little gem. I was the valedictorian of my high school class and I quoted that song in my speech at graduation.
John only needed the band to perform live. He can play all the instruments better than the other members, plus keyboards and more. On many of his solo studio efforts he does play everything.
Really..as I see a tight band when ever I've seen em live on vid..but it's like the worth of the band wasn't held in much value by many fans..stu & Doug seemed great players... Stu actually stated the songs were made by all..but with fogerty as song writer

I’ve seen Creedence Revisited because I was offered a free ticket and was curious. They may have learn their craft under John’s tutelage, but they were not as gifted as some cover bands I’ve seen elsewhere. John is Creedence!
@@splover23 that's it....i saw a CCR tribute band in Yakarta not long ago and i was kinda surprised, the singer really did his job, his rick with a PAF on the bridge sounded pretty cool on a blackface amp with the vibrato channel....it'd have been perfect if it wasn't for the drums, Doug had his own vibe.....Doug was to CCR what Bonham was to Led Zeppelin....Drummers that might not be as impressive as John Marshall or Carl Palmer but they give the vibe to the band....such as Doug Clifford, John Bonham, Ginger Baker or even (hands down) Ringo Starr...cheers from South QLD, Australia

I read Fogerty's book a little while back. It is a great read and it gives great insight to his music, his bands, and his life and I highly recommend it. He is a really great guy.

Now maybe Brad never earned enough commensurate with being “the voice of Boston” but if not for Tom’s insanity and his pet project of making the album to begin with; Scholz and every other member would have never had a thing. They got chosen to be in Boston because Tom needed a band in order to land the deal so he grabbed local musicians and it was pure dumb luck that they got his call and said yes. As for CCR? I know zero on that matter so I am curious to know more of the other members contributions.

Like you said, he pulled them from obscurity, and would’ve made groundbreaking music with anyone he had chosen. I believe Fogerty could’ve made the same CCR music with some of the Muscle Shoals musicians, or Booker T and the MGs, or just found good session guys. Fogerty wrote and arranged all the songs that are signature to CCR, and Scholz did the same for Boston.

Well through it all , and I’m a long long time fan hearing CCR in 1969 in high school , I’m so glad it’s “worked out” for John & his music as he is still rocking out and and having a great time. Keep on ChOOglin’ John we are enjoying the ride ! 👏👏👏👏👍
John Fogerty is a true legend. Talented and unsinkable as a musician. So decent, wise and congruent as a human. The latter is a very rare quality. His eyes and his face speak decency. John Fogerty rocks, he really does. In more than one way
He’s a walking example of what it means to carry a lifelong grudge. He denied his bandmates the opportunity that they earned to play on stage when the band that they were ALL in got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He could heal this rift. He chooses every day…DECADES later…not to.
"Saw his recent Red Rocks concert on DVD and was absolutely incredible.... 'Bad Moon' was one of the first songs I ever played on drums as a six-year-old. He still looks great and sounds great in his mid 70s and is an absolute Legend.

Stu and Doug were two of the luckiest guys in R&R history - to have been blessed to be in a great band with John Fogerty. I will never understand why some guys can't appreciate a genius when they have one in their midst.
I was lucky enough to see him for the first time last week at Ravina. The first thing he told us all was he finally got his songs back after all theses years. That most have been the biggest moment in his life. John we love you brother.
My Uncle introduced me to CCR. He was in Vietnam and those guys listened to CCR during RnR. So he sits me down and puts in the tape and we had great time. Unfortunately he passed away in 1989 from what is now called PTSD. I miss him and sitting around listening to CCR and singing along to the songs.
John Fogerty is one of my favorite musicians, guitarists, writers, and singers and as he rightly said, he had the vision and he HAD to go forward with it. Having said that, members of a group want to be included in the creative process or they're just glorified session musicians. I think the other three members are terrific. As steady a rhythm section as there is, including his bro Tom. Ideally they should've appreciated where they were. Easier said than done maybe.

In 1996 I was living in Thailand and excited that "Creedence Clearwater Revival" were to play a concert advertised under that name.. I paid top dollar for tickets. The band enters the stage and its just Clifford and Cook with a wannabe John Fogerty sound alike (or trying) The arseholes were using the full Creedence name until John Fogerty legally put a stop to it. They ripped me off. Respect to John

CCR was a great band. Their music hit just at the right time. Just like the Beatles, it took the four of them to make that sound. Unlike the Beatles, who had three great singer/songwriters, CCR had one. That was John. He sang most, if not all of the hits, including the backing vocals. This is his side of the story, I'm sure there are two sides. I lay the blame on Fantasy records. Saul was an idiot. Tom and John had a falling out and it all fell apart.
Stew didn’t care about the music because that wasn’t his music. It was John’s. He only wanted to benefit from that old CCR story in one way or the other. Talentless people who stay in the business always act that way.

Imagine the money they could have made had they just been decent to John. John Fogerty sells out large arenas to this day, playing a setlist almost exclusively CCR. I've seen him live 3 times, each time you go you know you're really going to a CCR concert.
The guy made terrible legal deals. He also wrote some flawless diamonds of music that will live forever. Quite a lot of them. But a deal is a deal. I mean... he signed them, for whatever reason.
I saw John Fogerty live at the Nokia Theater in 2006 and it was just like seeing CCR. The entire set was CCR songs, minus a few of his solo songs: "Centerfield", ;etc.
Saw Fogerty's Rockin All Over The World Tour 1986. Basically his first solo tour and had Bonnie Raitt opening. Had 3rd row in front with everyone yelling Creedence non-stop. He stopped the show and told the audience that he won't be playing not even one song of CCR and he didn't. Fans booed when he announced that. In fact he didn't sing any CCR on the whole tour. Great fuckin show though with him and Bonnie Raitt.
John was also CCR's manager in that time, he didn't want to be on the Woodstock film and LP.....the others wanted clearly. On bad moon rising John tuned his guitar down a whole stop and played in D, but with the E chord shape. With my baritone voice I’ve gladly stolen this trick.
