John Fogerty was the main force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival. Being the front man, singer, songwriter and musical arranger. This mini doc on his life will touch on the formation of the band and John's troubles in the music business. A lot of band trouble and lawsuits, a tough road but John seems at peace now. This is a re-up of a video I did a year or so ago. It has some different pictures, music and information. The audio quality is much better now. #johnfogerty #creedenceclearwaterrevival #creedence #documentary #classicrock

Favorites? Travellin' Band, Green River, Commotion, Lodi, Long as I can see the light, Effigy, and the long songs like I heard it through the grapevine, Suzy Q, I put a spell on you. There are only a few I like not so much. It is my favorite Rock & Roll Band.

Fogerty is awesome! It’s a shame that he had to go through all that with his brother and members in the band. He is CCR, and you can’t even come close to any group like him.

One of the first bands I really got into.... had all their albums. My favorite CCR tunes include Feelin Blue, Ramble Tamble and of course Green River and Born On The Bayou. Covers Midnight Special and Heard It Though The Grapevine (long version) are not bad either.

John is definitely my favorite singer/songwriter/performer. My biggest wish with music would be if the unreleased album Hoodoo masters were really still around and he released that album. IMO that whole album is great.

John Fogerty was always his own worst enemy, so I wouldn't shed too many tears over what his bandmates and record label did or did not do.

@@dukefordbig Fogerty fan but you're probably correct .. John most likely went right along with the Bahamian tax dodge scam. Same issue with CCR that tore many bands apart...the guys who write the songs get the big publishing checks twice a year and the other guys get gig money and some token performance royalties for the albums. It breeds envy and jealousy.

Loved all the old CCR songs. After they ended and seemed to be done, I remember hearing the song center field on the radio. No question who the singer was, I was hoping they had gotten back together.

Man, weren't they not just great. Fogerty was always known as the leader . Gotta throw in Fortunate Son on that list. He nailed the hypocrisy and insanity of those war years. Heard it through the grapevine, a cover that is chilling. Again, you did a bang up job making a doc. I sure thank you!

One of my favorites is (Wish I Could) Hideaway off of the Pendulum LP. Of course I like just about all of their music and the more popular ones like Have You Ever Seen The Rain. It's a shame that it took up until just recently for Fogerty to get the rights to his music back. But at least he finally did recently. I haven't really seen a lot about that other than a news story or two online and the mention of it on a different RU-vid channel. But I'm hoping it leads to some releases of maybe something previously unreleased? That would be nice. I was a little disappointed in the Live At the Royal Albert Hall that came out at the end of last year. It wasn't that the show wasn't good but the audio had apparently been through hell and back and it wasn't the best sounding official release. I have had two different DVDs of that concert that I've gotten through the years. And the audio on those was horrible. In fact, I always hoped that someday that show might be released so some good audio could be put over the video and synced. Even though I haven't got it, they did release the video with good sounding audio of that RAH 70 concert. But I've only seen it streaming and I'm not sure it ever got released on a DVD or Blu-ray? So it has me scratching my head as to why the 2 LP release didn't sound any better than it did. But at least I won't have to try to sync up a decent video with the audio now. Great video and definitely a great band! Thanks 👍 Brian in Fort Worth 🎶

Excellent video. It’s hard to pick a favorite. He has the same knack as Buddy Holly coming up with great melody and words over basic chords. I play a little sing around the campfire guitar, and when you play a John Fogerty song from his Creedence days, everybody knows the words. I guess if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Lodi.

A couple of their songs as the Golliwogs actually were quite successful regionally. John has even said so in recent concerts, where he performs "Fight Fire" from the Golliwogs years, despite it being one that Tom had been the lead vocals. This particular song has even been featured on soundtracks.

It's terrible what happened to John Fogerty. He REALLY got screwed by Fantasy Records, and the other three in the band! Such a waste of money, time and tears John shed over the years. But thank goodness he's doing well now! I've seen him a bunch of times, and he has still got it as far as I'm concerned? Every live show I've seen has been EPIC! All of the material he's put out since the early 80's, is as good if not better than C.C.R's stuff? I'm still a huge fan! Got to meet him once, kinda... Got back stage, saw him, told him I was a fan. He smiled, and signed my CD I handed him. Then he quickly ran off with some other guy! Hmm, I guess maybe nature was calling? Somebody from his road crew said he'd be back, but my ride was leaving so I couldn't hang... Wished that I did! Doesn't matter really. I'd go see him again. I know he's gonna put on a great show. Glad he finally got the rights back to his songs!

CCR WAS MY FAVORITE BAND. SAW THEM ON JULY11, 1971 IN DETROIT. THE NEXT DAY THE DETROIT FREE PRESS COMMENTS ABOUT THE SHOW SAID JOHN FOGERTY WAS 85% OF CCR. THE OTHER GUYS WERE AVERAGE MUSICIANS. I LOVE JOHN FOGERTY AND HIS MUSIC. NOW HIS SONS TYLER & SHANE PLAY WITH HIM ALONG WITH KENNY ARONOFF THEY ARE WAY BETTER THAN THE OTHER GUYS IN CCR. I HAVE SAW JOHN FOGERTY 42 TIMES IN CONCERT AND IT NEVER GETS OLD. MY WIFE TAKES YEARLY VACATIONS TOO LAS VEGAS TOO TAKE IN THREE SHOWS EACH TIME . HIS SONS HAVE THEIR OWN BAND HEARTY HAR AND ARE THE OPENING ACT FOR ALOT OF JOHNS SHOWS. FAST FOREWORD ALOT OF THE HEARTY HARD BAND MEMBERS ALSO PLAY WITH JOHN. John was (imho) one of the best there ever was! Luckily for songwriters across the board John won one of the most important music court cases in history, when he was being sued for millions by CCR's record label "Fantasy Records/Saul Zaentz" for plagiarism! (Sounding too much like himself!)😂🎶🎸 the way I understand it was primarily due to the sound on his solo release of "Old Man Down The Road" vs HIS CCR hit "Run "Through The Jungle" at that time Fantasy owned all of the rights as Doc said, but fortunately jurors watched & listened closely as John demonstrated (in the courtroom with his guitar & amp) as he explained it wasn't the same, but rather just part of his own "swamp style sound" and they agreed! Basically he proved he was the sole songwriting genius behind CCR' s monumental power house hits! Again imho his solo album "Centerfield" lives on as a testament to his incredible talent! (Just my 2 cents) This is another great video Doc, and I Thank You!✌

50% publishing is the standard in da biz if you haven't had a hit cut and negotiate a better deal.John apparently signed a ridiculous long term commitment just to get a record deal. The vitriol is well-founded but the reality is he signed the deal. Fogerty now finally has control of the songs back now but I see they're showing up in car commercials, etc. John always made tons of money during the Fantasy /Zaentz control years of course with his 50% ..he just couldnt control what the songs were used for. Until streaming came along all the money was in publishing royalties... Which is why so many managers /companies got their names on the records as writers. You rob the bank because that's where the money is. This story has happened over and over. Go watch the Kansas doc Miracle Out Of Nowhere ..Don Kirshner did the same thing to naive musicians who thought publishing was "sheet music" .
@RiverDocs
@RiverDocs 8 месяцев назад
You are absolutely correct. This happened all the time. Happened to Farner and Grand Funk. They signed it away. Doesn't happen much anymore to musicians, they are smart and hire lawyers and agents to take care of those royalties...kind of like baseball players. But back in the 70's many musicians who weren't businessmen got totally screwed. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
@bloozedaddy
@bloozedaddy 8 месяцев назад
@@RiverDocs for sure .. The irony being now that writers know better their songs are being streamed for a tiny percent of a penny. One million streams averages $3,000 in royalties . That's why concert tics are ridiculously priced ..... that and merch/ swag are the only places to make money for most artists. If you have connections for tv/movie placement those can pay well as a one-off deal. I knew Ed King when he lived here in Nashville and he got left off of Incense And Peppermints as a writer when he was with The Strawberry Alarm Clock. He was just a 17-18 kid who didn't know how shady the biz was. He learned quickly though by the time he joined Skynyrd .Good channel bud.keep it up. 🤘
