He play in Okoboji, IA about ten years ago. Big lake there and I was fishing and could here him warming up. I could see a Les Paul and his tone was incredible.
I didn’t ask for much as a kid, yet one day I worked up the courage to ask my dad for my first cassette tape. If I did ask for something my old man would ask a series of questions, he’d ask me the cost of the item, did I need it rather than just want it, how would it benefit me and others, how could I do good with the requested item; but that day the first question he asked me was “Who’s on this tape you want?” and when I answered “Creedence Clearwater Revival” his eyes lit up, his ears perked and no more questions were asked. We got in dads old Bronco and drove straight down to the music shop, on the way home we stopped off and got some burgers and sodas and sat there in the parking lot listening to ole John and the boys. One of the happiest days of my life.
Hell yeah! Literally eating a couple burgers right now with a large cola watching this. Remembering the good ole days and moments like that when the old man was in a good mood. Thanks for the good vibes!
With that said, his voice has held up very well. No one sounds better at 70+ than at 24 so faulting him for that would be silly. I appreciate the spirit of your comment. He seems like a great guy.
I remember in elementary school days. We had a place where you could play a CCR song for a nickel on the juke box or you could buy a Snicker's bar for a nickel. I never gained any weight.
Wow...just wow at that age and still got it. Wonder how many singers at 20-35 today can sing like that in 40+ years. Singers/performers in the 60-70 was a different breed.
@TheOtherWhiteBread0 It is a gift for him to do these videos, but he certainly has an egotistical reputation. Recall him not performing with his two former CCR band mates.
@tim miller Do you two know the history of CCR and why he never plays with them and claims all these songs? They were dicks to him and sold the whole band when they had agreed that it wouldnt happened unless they were all in agreement. It was behind his back and they were mad at him because he wrote so many of the songs.
John Fogerty is nothing less than a true musical genius, cultural icon and a damn national treasure. One of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time. This just shows how talented this cat is.
Creo que si llegare a conocer a este hombre en persona, moriría de la emoción,me crié escuchándolos, desde aquí mi pais,Argentina, digo:eterno seas John........
Depending on what you mean by American.. Id say a U.S national. Americans are all the people born in rhe continent and that includes a lot of other countries. Cheers
CCR was my brother’s favourite band. He was 12 years my senior and I remember playing in the basement outside his room as he listened to CCR while studying at Med school. He graduated in the 99th percentile and went on to become an anaesthesiologist. He died aged 35 in ‘85. I miss him dearly. Dealing with effects of cancer treatment and can’t help but feel back in time hearing CCR songs.
I work for a really friendly and awesome company in the UK, Devon called Tolchards. I was blasting the bands music all over Torquay today while doing my beer deliveries. You're one amazing person. Thank you for your amazing music and stay amazing! :).
64 this yr. We were a very lucky generation to have ALL the fantastic artists and musicians we had. I feel very blessed to have witnessed the music of my time. I had 2 sisters 10 yrs older. So I had best of both worlds. Musically. ✌🏻❤️
After reading a lot of these comments I can only say words like average band , mediocre band definitely do not fit the description of CCR . Those guys sang about the American way or the controversial period called Vietnam . Fortunate Son , a song about how privilege and power made one exempt from having to go fight in a controversial war . Who'll Stop The Rain , Have You Ever Seen The Rain , Run Through The Jungle were a few more protest songs that CCR put to music . They were a legend and still are , their music will never die . They were just four country boys that wrote and sang from the heart and became a legend in my opinion . If Tom Fogarty hadn't passed away I believe Credence Clearwater Revival would still be making music today , like the Stones , Moody Blues , Eagles and others from the late 60's and on . It's just my opinion that some people didn't like CCR because of a draft dodger mentality or might've been one . The band told about how they saw things and felt . They did protest the Vietnam War in song without violence unlike so many others . So yes in my opinion CCR's music will live forever . I'm 64 years of age and my 3 favorite bands of my lifetime are CCR , The Eagles and Bob Segar . All legendary bands .
I’m only 51 but I grew up rocking with CCR. I remember standing against the back of my uncle’s‘72 Ford pickup cab as we idled across the hayfield to load the bales and listening to “Bad Moon Rising” on the radio. As an adult I was serving with an older gentleman (in his seventies) on a church financial board and we were talking about music that we grew up with. I knew he had lived as a young man in Clearwater, Florida, but I was floored when he shared that he actually contributed $50 toward CCR’s demo recording of “Proud Mary”. He said there was a little cafe down there where he and a bunch of the younger crowd hung out, including many local musicians. He was married to a girl coincidentally named Mary at that time, and he said he was always a little suspicious that the song was about her because, “She wasn’t too proud.” Me and the other man on the board there were floored 😝😝😝 RIP brother Ronel Jenkins and thanks for the hilarious memory! Edited to mention that I’m from Jasper, Alabama, about sixty miles north of Birmingham, where Ronel had “fled” to from Clearwater, to rejoin his family while escaping from Mary. 😉
The God Father of Rock'n'Roll....!!! Best voice and singer of all times. The Vocals technics many new singers are using now, he invented already in the 60s. My Idol
Why do you people always have to do this? Why not just praise the great thing without expressing Drunk Uncle sentiments? For one thing, you're wrong -- there's plenty of talent all over the place, if you know where to look. For another, it just reveals you to be an old crank.
Dan Mitchell not at all. It’s just young people nowadays are lazy and don’t have the patience to learn how to actually learn an instrument so they turn to this digital BS and the quality shows in the end. It’s basically garbage compared to what bands , singer song writers we’re doing back in the day. Has nothing to do with being old.
@@benallmark9671 So, "not at all," but then you double down on the Drunk Uncle routine. "Young people nowadays." Yeesh. You have no idea what you're talking about. The world is filled with great new music. It just doesn't chart these days, because the business has imploded, corporate weasels are in charge of it, and what charts is crap. Just because you don't care to seek out the good stuff doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It doesn't have to do with you being old, is has to do with you being an old crank. I'm 57.
@@Roadto-zb4vu abide and buy would mean about the same. You could be right. It's covered by a vowel. For instance: Is it 'Bye, bye Miss American Pie'? Or 'Bye, bye I miss American Pie'. Tough one.
Peoples disliked this video are because they still dont know about music...probably they like reggae or music with repeated words phrases...this song brings good rememberings in my youth, when I wore long hair in 1973
@Saul Wikipedia is garbage, if you go to johnfogerty.com you will see that he has a concert date for April 21 at foxwoods casino In the shitty state of Connecticut!
As a youngster in Philadelphia, we used to hang out in our rec room in the basement, dark paneled walls and all. We'd either chill out and listen to records, or have make-out parties with colored light bulbs in the lamps, with little discs under the bulbs to make the lights blink on and off. Pretty cool effect for the '70s. And the album that got the most airplay? Cosmo's Factory, by far. John and CCR, like the Beatles' music, just gets better with age.
Thanks John for put a smile on my dad’s face on this difficult times. He have 66, I’m 32... and we love the same, the good old music. Sorry about my english. A big hug from Argentina
i've been dreaming to meet ''mister fogerty'' , i refuse to call him john, since i was about 12. i could never thank him enough, his songs inspired me to learn english
I would give John Fogerty videos a "thumbs up" even without watching his videos, out of respect for how much his music was a part of the lives of everybody from my older generation.
Not the same guitar but so nice to listen to him happier days for music and very different thinking in people generally but better days ahead still praying for that.
John, I’m still living in the same house I bought in 1973 for me and my baby son! I heard this song for the first time in this living room! Thank you, John.
I used to listen to this song as the sound of the music came from some faraway loudspeaker that was probably set up on the branch of a tall tree. Golden childhood years! Thanks for your talent!
