Took me about a minute of listening to this guy, for the first time tonight, to realize that I had stumbled across something special! Will be purchasing a ticket to see him live in 4 days! I am a rock n roller at heart, but good music is good music!
This is one of my favorite songs John does. It sounds excellent always, but is best when it sounds angry, really attacking the bass notes. He's an amazing musician and blows me away every time I see him- ever since I first saw him when he was 16.
holy shit. that raw plaintive voice, and such virtuosity. can only be carved out by years of diligent playing and listening. he must be a real old soul
Going to see him tonight with Patty Griffin. I have been looking forward to this with unfettered enthusiasm. Rialto Theater in Tucson, AZ here we come!
I heard this song ONE time a few months ago (in summer) and it haunted me ever since, just now found it, I LOVE it one of the best songs I've heard in a while. John Fullbright is a talented musician and I hope to hear more from him.
I love it. It's cryptic, mournful, haunting and most of all, authentic. I'm tired of all those nashville boys trying to convince everyone and each other how country they are.
I heard one song on WUMB & bought the latest cd....listened & loved but just today looked at a video. So surprised to see how young the greatly talented man! Love him!
Listen kids, if you don't know about the music that happens in Northeastern Oklahoma you don't know much John R Fullbright Paul Benjamen Wink Burcham Cody Clinton Clay Welch Reed Mother Fucking Mathis Michael Hopper to name a few but the actual list of local legends in that part of the country that truly are national treasures is amazing both living and dead. No one plays with the soul of those cats.
Wow! Praise the Lord! I love Hayes Carll and thought this guy is similar, but is more unique and got more soul. Kid sings like he has lived for a couple thousand years!
