Taj won that heat easily. What happened?? Judges messed up huge. But both surfers just did an amazing work, two legends, perfect waves, beautifull to watch.

That JJ 9.43 is complete bull$hit, judges completely forgot about their own scale and behaved like a fan girl at a One direction concert. Taj won that heat no doubt! Anyway.... both surfers absolutely rip and that was some amazing surfing at some amazing cloudbreak... respect ✊🤙❤️

That was ridiculous judging on Taj , honestly he was way more committed in turns , length of ride , and top turns in critical positions and wave choice. Not impressed with that even though both put on a good show.

one of the best heats i've ever seen. both guys having a blast and surfing their brains out. for those complaining about overscoring, get over it. if they'd wanted to follow some story line having taj in it to the end would have been the better one. he fell and didn't quite get it. great surfer--doubt if he has any regrets about that.

to Phu Cue, first of all it was super close, it could have gone either way. so I sympathize with you. personally, I am content with the result, mainly bc in those last 2 waves at ~12:30 Taj DID win, he got a 9.4 to John's 9.33. so that was justice, I felt. but not enough justice to turn the heat. Taj needed to do more on that wave (instead of falling) to win the overall heat. I have to say one more thing, the turns these guys were doing are amazing. incredible hacks/turns. power and aggression.

darn it! Taj had it too. I think his wave at 6:00 got a low score, but I'd say he's happy with what he did. Hope he comes back after a year or two like Kelly did. He still needs a title and maybe he can clear his head enough to make a comeback.

I was born and raised in laguna beach and my dad produced many surf films and that meant I was always there with my old man meeting a lot of the best surfers in the world and didn't understand until i got older how rad it was to hangout with john john and his family at trestles and to see him get to where he's at now especially considering Taj Burrow was my favorite surfer growing up and i remember doing a biography on taj in 4th grade haha
