Former Secretary of State John Kerry got into a contentious exchange with Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) over Kerry's college degree and the evidence of climate change during a House Oversight hearing. #CNN #News
then you missed what this was about, Kerry admits he is the top 1% and collecting a tax fee paid for by the lower working class people. and that his science degree is fake, and your defending a person who creates laws so they can rob the working class poor.
@@ateam6486 er... I think Kerry did make it very clear that it was Political Science which is an arts degree. He also freely admits that he in the top 1% and he benefited from the recent tax changes. So I think you are more than a little one eyed and did not watch it or simply did not understand. Probably the latter.
@Jy Byrd the guy tried to compare political science to a science degree. He doesnt even know what political science is, just based on that comparison. How did he blow Kerry out of the water?
@@robertnicholls9917 well, agreed. I guess I look at it with two possibilities. Either he didnt know or he knows and wanted something to appeal to his base. Either way, for the rest of us it looks pretty damn stupid or sneaky. He definitely didn't 'win' this argument.
Well, he told Kerry that the amount of CO2 he's talking about is less than it was in the past. Kerry responded by saying the past level was higher due to geological events. The events Kerry is talking about are still happening volcanos, geysers, and other natural gas releases. Kerry can't explain why they are less now.
Massie was a "Judge" in his home county in Kentucky. His title was Judge Executive. But he has no law degree and never presided over a trial. He was a pseudo judge.
Thomas Massie lives off grid. Has a house powered by Solar and drives a Tesla. He holds degrees from MIT. He knows this is going to hurt the poor like it always does.
We don't know exactly how bad it'll get. But it doesn't have to be the end of humanity to be really, really bad. But how bad wouldit have to be for politicians to sit up and take notice and take action now? Wars over food and water? Mass migrations because of changing sea levels and habitable zones? Increased risk of nuclear war? All of these are possible. Personally I'd rather invest in our planet than run a greater risk of a disaster happening in our not too far future by gambling on 'it'll all be okay'. Sure, it may not happen in my lifetime but that's no reason to sit back. Of course, we should've taken action decades ago, but that's in the past.
justGSquared You should be. But America still produces many incredible scientists, academics, researchers etc - the fact a despicable moron was quizzing Kerry like a sarcastic hillbilly rejecting them tharr climate change doesn’t mean that You, personally, should be embarrassed. So, you’re forgiven.
As we reported in 2004, the couple owned five homes at the time, with a combined value of roughly $29 million. She bought four of those before her marriage, and the couple jointly owned one. In 2017 the couple sold the home in Nantucket, which belonged to his wife’s family, and purchased one in Martha’s Vineyard. The couple did make use of a luxury yacht, which brought Kerry scrutiny and criticism during the 2004 election cycle over reports that he docked it in Rhode Island to avoid paying higher taxes in Massachusetts. They sold it in 2017. Kerry has also made use of a private jet, but that, too, belongs to his wife. The matter of the Kerrys’ cars also came up in 2004, when news outlets reported that he owned multiple vehicles. At the time, he was criticized for calling on people to buy American-made products while his wife drove a German-made car. It is true that Kerry has made use of multiple homes, vehicles, a private jet and a yacht over the course of years, though much of the property belongs to his wife. It does appear, however, that the meme exaggerated the number of homes and yachts they have owned.

@Leonard Weisfeld 800,000 years ago is not when animal life began. Vertebrate life began 525 million years ago. Primates emerged about 50-55 million years ago. the Hominini tribe (humans, and other extinct biped genera) came into existence between 8-9 million years ago. Don't take my word for it though. Lol! This is PRICELESS! My Dad had was a Professional Engineer & Navigator in WW2 at age 19. No GPS. He used to tease me for taking those "candy courses" in English and Psychology. I did not dare take more than one political science course even though I had an interest. Now, decades later, having a modest science degree and much background in "liberal arts" also I can say there is a BIG difference. Kerry is not qualified to teach an 8th grade science class and the bs oversimplistic CO2 hypothesis of global warming - excuse me "climate change" is laughed at and disregarded by Scientists with PHDs and Nobel Prize winners in Physics, Chemistry and many other "hard sciences '. Kerry's shock and indignation about being called out on this is hysterical. Many in DC - politicians and lawyers would react similarly having enlarged their own egos by keeping similar company all the while knowing they couldn't navigate their own way to the Azores - let alone Mars. So THEN these high and mighty bureaucrats appeal to the ordinary people and pretend they are not Humpty Dumpty. Math is not racist and most people know it.
Complaining that the rich aren’t taxed enough when they pay the most in taxes is not a proper moral judgement. Especially not when taxing more doesn’t mean more tax revenue.
@@JamesTicknor But your parallel is wrong. The Congressman was accusing John Kerry of practicing "psuedo science" by having a degree in Political Science while talking about the physical environment. He actively has spoken against such policies... for a some time now (I'm sorry if you missed it). Just bringing up the fact that there is a huge divide - and loss of our middle class since the 60's-80's, is a no go if he really cared about money so much. What you need to understand, is that isn't the main driving force for many people... especially once they know they have it. I think this is way too rash, but just Imagine we went back to 50's tax rates if you will - we jumped taxes on the rich/ corporations (say over $5M), 2x nay 3x there current rate ~15-20% > 30-40% >(even) 45%-60%... what does that look like even if you tax the money they already have?. Say you had taxed at 60% (0.60), then $5M > $2M | $10M > $4M... that would be drastic for anyone even moderately in power who was Democrat right now - but those were the rates of our highest boom in the fabled "glory days of the economy" (- growth of our middle class). _____ I don't think we should touch the money people already have (it erodes trust for one thing). I think making sure corps (over $1M/ or people over $5M) paid at least some 30%, that would be fair (and a big increase for many). *An aside, I don't like the heirloom taxes (which are heavy) yet at least today we should realize where that money may have came from ~> push money into low income areas to equalize the damage that's been caused (by us US)/ ...or I don't like the transfer taxes banks and Gov's leach from... or the water in Flint I'd imagine-_-. Sigh, we need leaders!/ teachers-, plumbers apparently:/. I appreciate Kerry! Income! Why not tax it(?). if you had $5M coming in at 30% tax, that's still $3.5M... that seems like a lot to me )(:/)(.
