On October 27, 2017, BAFTA Los Angeles honored Claire Foy with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year presented by Burberry. John Lithgow was there in person to pay tribute to his The Crown co-star.
Yes it is!! John is one of those actors who is a “pillar”. Someone who we trust in to hold the scene; someone who we lean into for strength and assurance. Not unlike a pillar-that hold a building in place, we are confident and assured that what ever comes, what ever happens, all will be well. In the way a kite needs a tether, John is that tether-guiding and stabilizing the actors he works with to new highs of possibilities. Very underrated, but oh so important!!!!
I will miss her, too. I was kind of thinking "could they just pick up after they'd aged naturally and then work on season 3?" Lol. Of course it's just. not happening. She's brilliant. She should've won the BAFTA.
She looked so terribly embarrassed to hear those magnificent accolades, and that self-deprecation, that "aw shucks" response to her immense talents and abilities is just amazing to watch...
Claire’s acting skills is nothing short of amazing, but let’s not forget the accent she done while in this character. Queen Elizabeth has a very rare accent that is apart from any British person I’ve heard speak. Claire absolutely nailed it so much so that if I closed my eyes it felt like I was actually listening to one of the queens speeches. Keep in mind also that the queens particular accent is extremely hard to accomplish. I’ve never heard anyone be as accurate as Claire was. Bravo 👏
Yes we witness all of that ,Claire was magnificent on The Crown,it was one unforgettable performance in every scene ,she doesn’t need to speak while her eyes say a thousand words in every look ,she is just unique and lovely all around !
Only problem: Despite being “The Crown,” she made less than Matt Smith. Claire Foy is sublime and made ERII human. She deserves to be treated and paid for her actual worth.
Hope Springs-A-Turtle Matt Smith is/was about a million times more famous than her. Being The Doctor for years. Bring in more money, make more. That’s how it works. I expect they were close to equal in the second series.
@@layoverbear Since The Crown came out she has won a Golden Globe, an Emmy, 2 SAG Awards, and starred in several movies alongside actors like Andrew Garfield and Ryan Gosling. Smith might have gotten more money and is adored by geeks, but she is a way better actress. And no, she was paid less than him in s2 too.
djdiu "since the Crown came out" is the key here. Matt Smith is and has been a household name for years. Claire was not. She's starting to become more popular, but she was not at Matt's level for a while. We can't really know their salary for Season 2, neither can you. But I do hope it was similar. Let me just say that I do adore both of them. But their acting talent doesn't decide their paycheck.
Iv just started watching the crown, and Claire’s performance is just outstanding and she’s such a humble down to earth person and I will miss her when I finish series 2
I caught her for the first time in The electrical life of Louis Wain with Ben Cumberbatch, she is riveting in that film. A powerhouse. She made me think of Kate Winslet's charisma & supreme acting abilities.
@@qwertyboo I think so too L - Imran was probably referring to American John Lithgow playing Churchill .. but as Churchill had an American mum we can forgive the casting of an American as Churchill. And didn't Lithgow do a fantastic job of that role !! :) I've read that Gillian Anderson did a great job of playing Margaret Thatcher too .. but I haven't seen her in the later series yet ..
