Dear Protestants who argue so vehemently against Catholicism: It would greatly enhance the quality of our conversation if you would do two things - 1. Accept that there are many, many Catholics who are just as rational and intellectually convinced about their Catholic convictions as you are about your Protestant convictions and show the respect for Catholic faith and practice that you would like us to show for yours. 2. Become an expert on Catholic doctrine and teaching before you criticize it. This applies especially if you “grew-up Catholic” and think you’re already an expert. I’ve found that, almost uniformly, “ex-Catholics” who are now devout Protestants never really knew true Catholic teaching and doctrine. Once you truly understand Catholic doctrine and show some empathy for the faith - even if you disagree - then we can have a fruitful conversation. Without mutual respect it’s just a war of words and no one ever changes their mind because someone yelled at them. Grace & peace.

How do you receive eternal life ??
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 9 месяцев назад
_ready__ We are sinners who have sinned against God. Our sin separates us from God. We can't save ourselves or earn salvation. It's a free gift of God. Jesus came to save us by dying on the cross and shedding his body and blood for us, to redeem us, and reconcile us back to God. This saving grace of Jesus is offered to us freely, and we are saved by grace alone (Acts 15:11). We must turn away from our sins and repent (Acts 2:38), believe completely in Jesus (faith), and be baptized (Jn 3:5. Mk. 16:16, Acts. 2:38). Finally we must live out that faith and live for Christ in obedience and following the commandments. (Mt. 28:19, Mt. 19:16-22, Lk. 6:46, Jn. 14:15, etc). Good works dont save us and cant save us but are necessary for a true faith to save. So, if we have faith, live out that faith bear good fruit, follow the Commandments and stay faithful to the end, we will be saved eternally. (Mt. 24:11-13, Rev. 2:4-7, 10, 19-26, Rom. 11:16-22). This is all by His grace, not of ourselves.

@@Harbinger290if you are not walking in charity, and not doing the things James, John, and Christ instructed; you are outside of Grace, and stand condemned. Perhaps your scripture does not contain the letter to the Ephesians. Or you simply haven’t actually read what is contained therein- For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. If I thought you were being serious, or genuinely interested; I’d engage you further. Sensing the snide tones in your remarks however; this is all you are getting. Perhaps you should actually read the book you like to thump, and hold as a prop, while spouting nonsense, and stop cherry picking, and pitting scripture, against scripture, and Apostle against Apostle. You sound exactly like Satan, engaging Jesus in the desert. 🐪 He did the same. BTW, I was born, raised, and thoroughly indoctrinated and educated in “Reformed” theology. I count it as dung.

There have been some terrible Popes throughout the centuries, they murdered people, had babies out of wedlock, etc, but that doesn't change the Apostolic teaching of the Church as passed on by Jesus thru the Apostles and Bishops. The Apostles didn't leave the Church because of Judas. Jesus said there would be weeds with the wheat. Remember, All Protestant churches were created by Men. Jesus created One Church in Matt 16:18, the pillar and foundation of truth, 1 Tim 3:15, and the Final Authority, Matt 18:15-18. Around 107AD, St. Ignatius of Antioch, a Bishop in the Church, wrote a letter, calling it "Catholic", or Universal. The name stuck. It was united pretty much until 1517 when Luther came along and did his thing. Yes, the Orthodox broke away in 1054, but they have the same beliefs. Here is a question for your mother , and any Protestant: Is Your interpretation of Scripture Fallible or Infallible? Is it Authoritative? Is it binding on all Christians? Also, find out if she knows where the Bible came from. They had the Old Testament back then. There was no N.T. until the late 4th Century when Pope Damasus I and the other Bishops of the Church held the Council of Rome in 382AD and Authoritatively settled on the 27 books we now have, out of over 200 books being read and debated. (The Church has always held Councils when there was a debate, and settled the issue with God's Authority). And then for another 1000+ years, who painstakingly copied Bibles by hand, sometimes taking up to 3 years to complete one? Well it was Not "Protestant" monks in monasteries. In 1455, the printing press came along and then Bibles were much more available for the few who were not illiterate. Ever hear that Catholic Churches chained Bibles down? Why? To keep people from reading them? Uh, NO. How about to keep them from being stolen as they were so valuable? Anyone, who could read, could go there and read them. I'd be interested to know what denomination Mom is..Baptist? Assuming she believes in salvation by "Faith Alone", ask her to show you just one verse in the Bible that says so. She will go to any number of verses like Eph 2:8-9, John 3:16, and so on. Notice that the word "Alone" is not there. It's their, Fallible, Unauthoritative, Nonbinding misinterpretation, all started by Martin Luther. Then take her to James 2:24, and in context, James 2:14-26. Read it together. Let her explain why it's "wrong". John 6 is pretty plain about the Eucharist. Paul is too in 1 Cor 11:23-30. Good luck.

Will power, where does the Bible say that the true church is made up of different contradictory denominations that can't agree on anything? In reality, the Bible says there is only one church, one doctrine, one faith, one hope, one baptism. One unity. There is no unity among Protestants, and they don't have one church or one baptism. @Harbinger290 From my own experience, I was raised Catholic and received the sacraments of baptism, first communion, and Confirmation. I became a lapsed Catholic in my late teens to late 20's, and became a cultural Christian/diest/agnostic. I had received saving grace from these sacraments, but if I had died during this time, my soul would not have been ready to meet the Lord. I was justified at baptism, but my soul was lacking in sanctification, so my soul would have endured a heavy purification process before meeting the Lord (i.e., final theosis/purgatory). Through the grace of God and his sacraments, I came back to the church and was reconciled through the sacrament of reconciliation and continue to receive the eucharist. If I were to die today, my soul is more sanctified but would probably still be in need of some purification before meeting the Lord, but definitely not as much as before. In this light, purgatory/final theosis is a gift, not a burden. You are justified but are still working on your sanctification, as we ALL are.

Also, I meant to add that I always get such a bad feeling when watching John MacArthur's videos, which my friend sends me. He always has this sour, dire look on his face and his whole demeanor is just so unpleasant. I point this out ot my friend and ask her, where is the joy of Christ in this man? There is no joy or peace there. I look at our priests, and they all have an internal joy and peace that exudds from them that is undeniable. I see this in Father Mike for example, and many other Catholic personalities on RU-vid. But Mr. MacArthur exudes no such joy, and reason is obvious. Too bad others are too blind to see it.

June 22 2015, Francis has movingly asked forgiveness for historic persecutions and killings the Catholic church perpetrated against Waldensian Christians, a European evangelical movement and church that one pope more than 830 years ago excommunicated and another 430 years ago ordered exterminated. I often notice that people who fight the Catholic church have a very superficial knowledge of the bible. If you refute them with the bible, they call you satan for confusing them because they haven't actually read the whole bible. Instead, they've read a few select verses or are unable to put the old testament together with the New Testament. This happens because God has put blinders on them until it is time for them to understand.

I am VERY proud of my personal name which is Peter. Having done church hopping for many years I became Eastern Orthodox in 2017. But as I have found out, the true original and intended Church is the Catholic Church. So now I will convert. I am so certain of the truth of the Catholic Church that I changed out the slavic Eastern Orthodox neck cross which has touched relics on Holy Mount Athos, including the skull of St Andrew - amongst others - during my pilgrimage there, with a blessed Miraculous Medal. (Still have the cross in my icon corner though, next to my icons). This medal has also a cross on the backside by the way. To wear both at the same time would require a longer chain so that they do not constantly bump into each other. Maybe I will get a longer chain.

Quite often, fundamentalist flamers show up to unload a barrage. These people never respond to questions or objections, but only wish to hear themselves talk. It's much easier to make generalized, unsubstantiated claims than it is to actually track down the facts. Especially when the "facts" you claim are proven to be non-existent. 'Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.' John 7:24" "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion." (Proverbs 18:2) Proverbs 10:18 The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool. . In other words, you are simply reading propaganda. Not that you seem to have a particular bias (sarcasm). I am in awe of your arrogance. You sit in judgment, falsely slandering others, always excusing yourself in your self-righteousness. Hate to break it to all my extra holy protestant brethren, but "The mother of harlots" (not the whore) of rev 17 is the city of Jerusalem. Her 2 daughters are Israel and Judah, who played the harlot in their fathers house, her sisters are Sodom, Babylon and Egypt. Try reading the bible. When the Whore falls we read, "'Rejoice over her, O heaven! Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets! God has judged her for the way she treated you'. . . . In her was found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of all who have been killed on the earth" (Rev 18:20 and 24). So, the Whore could not be the Catholic Church because 1) it did not exist to kill the old testament prophets and 2) No blood is on the Churches hand with respect to any Apostle. Prophets existed as a group only in the Old Testament and in the first century (Acts 11:27-28, 13:1, 15:32, 21:10). Since the Whore persecuted apostles and prophets, the Whore must have existed in the first century and BEFORE. WHO KILLED THE PROPHETS Indeed, Jesus himself could not be any clearer in Matthew 23:37: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you! Rev 17:5 "Babylon the great, mother of whores and of earth’s abominations.” 6 And I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of the witnesses to Jesus...." Rev 17:18 The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.” Rev 18:10 "Alas, alas, the great city, Babylon, the mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.” Rev 18:20 "Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints and apostles and prophets! For God has given judgment for you against her.' SO WHO IS BABYLON - THE GREAT CITY MOTHER OF WHORES ANSWER REV 1:8 The GREAT CITY "where also their lord was crucified - JERUSALEM NOT ROME Passages of Revelation pertaining to the whore or the harlot makes sense when it is referring to ancient PAGAN Rome but makes no sense when Fundamentalists try to associate it with modern Rome. The passage says that the Whore will have power over kings. Modern Rome has no power over modern "kings", in fact there are almost no kings left in the world. Nor does the Church (which rests on Vatican hill outside of the 7 hills of Rome) have power over political leaders, otherwise ABORTION, PORNOGRAPHY, and HOMOSEXUALITY with HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE would not be legal in the civilized world. Revelation says that the whore was the center of commerce. (Rev 18:17-19) No economist today will say that modern Rome or the church is a leader in commerce. The US, Japan, etc are. However, ancient Pagan Rome was a leader in commerce. The Vatican is on Vatican hill and outside the 7 hills of Rome that that city is built on. And it MUST be noted the bibles including the KJV translate it not as hill but as mountain. Revelation 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. Jerusalem is built on 7 mounts. One source, jesus-messiah.com/prophecy/rev-13.html, lists the seven, and explains a bit more of why some authors list different mountains, and includes a map: 1.) Mount Gared; 2.) Mount Goath; 3.) Mount Acra; 4.) Mount Bezetha; 5.) Mount Moriah; 6.) Mount Ophel; 7.) Mount Zion. The seven mountains upon which Jerusalem was built are (according to wikipedia): Scopus, Nob, Olivet, "Mount of Corruption" or "Mount of Offence", "Mount Zion", the "Ophel Mount" and the new "Mount Zion." Or perhaps interpretations are far more complex than the followers of Jack Chick might expect, Who knows? Perhaps the 7 mountains refer to the 7 continents. Perhaps the harlot is in fact apostate Christianity of a protestant variety. It may not hurt to look at all the possibility bu NO ONE should go about insisting that there interpretation against another faith is correct. It is too convoluted with too many possibilities. And no one should contradict scripture in their assertions.😘😘

The surname "MacArthur" is one of those that suggests a Scots-Irish ancestry. Even if not, most Protestants have been heavily influenced by the Scots-Irish. In fact, much of the United States, World Headquarters of Protestantism, has been influenced by them. The Scots-Irish and their sympathizers disdained Catholicism more than any Protestant denomination. MacArthur somehow has inherited this fierce anti-Catholic attitude.

46:04 While Henry VIII was indeed a tyrant, "Bloody" Mary was labeled so to cover the massive slaughter by the hands of her successor, Elizabeth I. It truly is the winners who write history - at least initially - and the infamous (and now known by scholars as largely spurious) "Foxe's Book of Martyrs" was a primary driver for the legend of "Bloody" Mary Tudor. Staunch Anglican (not Catholic) journalist, William Henry Cobbett, details the distortion of history in his book, "The History of the Protestant Reformation in England". Cobbett is best known as England's first Investigative Journalist and wanted to set right centuries of propaganda - so much so he had to flee to America at one point to avoid arrest for Sedition. While his work is thorough and undisputed, much of his work was suppressed and it is a hard book to find. He writes in Chapter 8: "Her reign our deceivers have taught us to call the reign of "Bloody Queen Mary," while they have taught us to call that of her sister the "Golden Days of Good Queen Bess." They have taken good care never to tell us that for every drop of blood that Mary shed Elizabeth shed a pint; that the former gave up every fragment of the plunder of which the deeds of her predecessors had put her in possession, and that the latter resumed this plunder again, and took from the poor every pittance which had by oversight been left them." If you can get a copy of "The History of the Protestant Reformation in England and Ireland" by Cobbett - get it! It never would have survived at all if not for the work of Cardinal Gasquet.

When I researched this topic on queen Mary it was shocked and angered on the falsehoods of her. This is part of what I wrote on the subject: Dissecting Historical Narratives: Unveiling the Complexities of Queen Mary I's Reign Queen Mary I, the first reigning queen of England, has been shrouded in historical myths and misconceptions, perpetuated by biased narratives and oversimplified accounts. In our exploration of the truths behind her reign, we unravel ten lies and ten misconceptions that have obscured a nuanced understanding of this influential monarch. Lies: 1. False: "Bloody Mary" Sobriquet Mary I is unjustly branded as "Bloody Mary," a label derived from the alleged ruthless persecution of Protestants during her reign. Contrary to popular belief, historical records indicate that the number of executions was fewer than commonly portrayed. 2. False: Childlessness as a Failure Mary's inability to produce an heir is often presented as a personal failure, obscuring the multifaceted challenges she faced. Political and religious turbulence played significant roles in shaping the outcomes of her reign. 3. False: Unpopular Monarch While historical narratives tend to depict Mary as an unpopular queen, the reality is more nuanced. Opposition to her religious policies existed, but she also had supporters, and her popularity fluctuated during her rule. 4. False: Solely Driven by Spanish Influence The marriage of Mary to Philip II of Spain is commonly oversimplified as her succumbing to Spanish dominance. In reality, Mary had her own political agenda, and her decisions were not solely dictated by Spain. 5. False: Religious Fanaticism Mary's efforts to restore Catholicism are sometimes portrayed as fanatical. However, her motivations were rooted in a combination of personal beliefs, political considerations, and a genuine desire for stability in the kingdom. 6. False: Ineffectual Leadership Mary I's leadership is unfairly deemed ineffective. Despite facing numerous challenges, including economic issues and religious unrest, she managed to stabilize the economy and initiate social reforms during her relatively short reign. 7. False: Ignored Economic Matters Mary's focus on religious matters is exaggerated, as she did address economic challenges. Her attempts to tackle issues such as the debasement of the coinage reflect a concern for the economic stability of the realm. 8. False: Inflexible Religious Policies Mary I is sometimes depicted as inflexible in her religious policies. In truth, she displayed a level of pragmatism, granting clemency to some Protestants based on political considerations rather than rigid dogma. 9. False: Hostility Toward Elizabeth The notion that Mary harbored intense hostility toward her half-sister Elizabeth oversimplifies their complex relationship. While they had differences, their interactions were not characterized solely by animosity. 10. False: No Positive Contributions Mary I's reign is wrongly portrayed as devoid of positive contributions. Her efforts to restore the English navy and improve diplomatic relations with Spain had lasting effects that extended beyond her lifetime. Misconceptions: 1. Misconception: Religious Persecution Unprecedented Contrary to the misconception that religious persecution was unprecedented under Mary I, religious conflicts had deep roots in England prior to her reign. Understanding the historical context is crucial for a comprehensive assessment. 2. Misconception: Personal Failure in Marriage Mary's marriage to Philip II is sometimes misconstrued as a personal failure, neglecting the intricate political dynamics that influenced the union. Mary's limited control over certain aspects of the marriage should be considered. 3. Misconception: Lack of Political Acumen Mary I's political acumen is underestimated. Navigating a complex political landscape marked by factionalism and external pressures, she made decisions influenced by more than just religious fervor. 4. Misconception: Isolated from European Politics Mary is incorrectly seen as isolated from European politics. Her marriage to Philip II and active involvement in continental affairs demonstrate her presence on the European stage, challenging the notion of isolation. 5. Misconception: No Legacy in Naval Affairs Mary I's contributions to the English navy are often overlooked. Her investments laid the groundwork for the naval strength that would become a cornerstone of England's power in subsequent centuries. 6. Misconception: Negligible Concern for Economic Issues Economic concerns were not neglected under Mary I. Despite facing challenges, she addressed monetary problems, showcasing a concern for the economic well-being of her realm. 7. Misconception: Unwavering Loyalty to Catholicism While Mary I aimed to restore Catholicism, her loyalty to the Catholic Church is sometimes overstated. Her policies were influenced by practical considerations, including the need for stability in a religiously divided England. 8. Misconception: No Religious Tolerance Mary I's reign is mistakenly seen as devoid of religious tolerance. Some leniency was shown, indicating a more nuanced approach to religious matters than is often acknowledged. 9. Misconception: Entirely Defined by Her Mother's Legacy Mary is sometimes overshadowed by the legacy of her mother, Catherine of Aragon. Her reign deserves independent evaluation, considering the complex political and religious landscape she navigated. 10. Misconception: No Efforts for Social Reform Mary I's efforts for social reform are occasionally ignored. Despite limitations, she attempted to address issues like poverty and vagrancy, reflecting a concern for the welfare of her subjects.

I thought Justification was a position while Sanctification is where we are called to be obedient and to cooperate with the process. If a saint doesn’t cooperate with Gods work of Sanctification in us then we are subject to His discipline which then affirms our sonship in that He disciplines those whom He loves. Having Brian dismantle all that I’ve come to know as Truth is a very hard process but at the same time I take great comfort in Gods provision through Brian to set the record straight and to dispel all the erroneous teachings that so many are believing and trusting that what we are being taught is from rightly dividing the Word of God.

Call Catholics and original christians, juatification and sanctification are the same thing. When you first come to Christ there is something called initial justification where he saves you and brings you into new life with him and feels you with the Holy Spirit. However, ultimate justification and salvation is also through sanctification. They walk hand in hand. Be obedient to God and His holy will leads to Salvation.

Protestants ignore so much of Scripture. Jesus rebuked the Pharisees and Scribes for making their own version of His One True Apostolic Catholic Church, just like all 44,000 other Christian Churches have done. He established His Doctrine, Sacraments, Clergy and Teachings in His Church, wants everyone to be His Church. Mt 23:1-39, Lk 11:37-54, Mt 16:18-19, 10:1-4, Mk3:14-19, Eph 2:19-22, 1 Cor 12:28, Acts 20:28, Lk 22:28-32, Jn 21:15-17, 10:16, 17:20-26, Eph 4:4-6, 2 JN1:9, Gal 1:6-9, Heb 13:9, Jn 3:5, Act 22:16, 2 Cor 5:18-20, Jn 20:21-23, Mt 18:17-18, Jn 6:51-59, 1 Cor 11:23-29, Lk 22:18-20, Eph 1:13, 2 Cor 1:21-22, Mt 19:4-6, Col 3:17-19, 2 Cor 5:20, 1:25-29, Lk 22:28-32, Jm 5:16, Lk 10:34 are a few pertinent verses.

@@Harbinger290 Catholics believe 1. that we are saved by Christ and Christ alone. There is only 1 mediator - Jesus alone. 2. that Catholics don't earn salvation through good works. Salvation is a free gift from God. Nothing that we do can earn this gift, which is freely given through God's grace and no work we do can earn this salvation. This is what INITIAL SALVATION is about - earned entirely through God's grace and not through human works. This is why Ephesians 2:1-9 first started recounting our sinful lives and then subsequently saying it is by grace that we are saved and not by works. Same for Gal 2:16 which also points to the gift of initial salvation. 3. Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we must continue with good works to merit eternal life. Good works proved that we are saved, worthy of being saved and we need to continue to be justified, growing in justice and righteousness. Rev 2:10 ask us to be faithful until death and the crown of life shall be given. We are forgiven and declared righteousness by God at the beginning of our Christian life. This is the same position Catholics and Protestants hold in common. God wants us to grow in righteousness over the course of our earthly Christian life. This means doing good works. This requirement is found all over scriptures: A. Gal 6:7-9 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. B Phil 2:12 continue to WORK OUT your salvation with fear and trembling C. Matt 13:36-37 Jesus ask the young man who wanted eternal life to do good (=keeping the commandments) “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother,and ‘love your neighbor as yourself. D. Romans 8:1-14 St Paul tells us we must be Christ like and continue to live our lives in Christ to do good works that please God "In order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." E. Gal 5:19-21. There is no guarantee that anyone who has accepted Christ will proceed to live a model Christian life otherwise scriptures will not be warning us. "The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God." F. Romans 2:6-7 God will reward those who performs good works God “will repay each person according to what they have done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life" G. Romans 3:28 says faith and good works go hand in hand : "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law." H. James 2:17 " In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." I. James 2:24 "You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and NOT by faith alone" J Matt 25:31-46 Jesus shall separate out those who do good works vs those who don't. Those who do will go to Heaven. "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me." To summarise : Catholics hold the same belief as Protestants in believing Initial Salvation is a free gift from God. No good works can earn us this gift. After we enter into Christ, we must do good works so that we can be growing in righteousness, and not the lukewarm water that Jesus will spit out in Rev 3:16. Christians need to continuously be justified over the course of our lives in accordance to the requirements of the scripture verses above. It cannot be assumed anyone who enters in Jesus will automatically do good deeds. Those who don't risk losing their initial gift of salvation as these scripture passages have shown. Once saved always saved is heretical as the bible verses above have shown.

@@Harbinger290That's the wrong way to look at it. The way the question is phrased is a works based salvation where you have to do enough to be saved. That's a false understanding of salvation and Catholicism. The Catholic Church teaches that when we come to Christ, we are saved by grace alone. No works before our justification mean anything or do anything towards salvation. However, once we come to Christ by grace through faith. We must live out that faith in love for Christ in obedience to Him and his commandments. That's like saying how many good works must I do and how many dates must I take my wife on to make sure that I keep her. The truth is, we do all of these things. Because we love her, not just so we don't lose her. Same thing with Christ. We do good works out of love for him not to try to earn our salvation somehow. Christ has obtained for us salvation, and we must walk in it daily. Otherwise, it's a false religiosity Where salvation is up to you and not God and his grace. The Catholic Church teaches that even the good works we do after justification are by his grace, not of ourselves. Does that make sense?

Similarly, "jew" first appears in the Book of Kings, naming an enemy of Israelites.

So sad that people are so focused on defending an institution. He speaks to the variance of protestantism as a bad thing. It isn't bad to discuss the study of scripture knowing that all things aren't black and white, but RELIGION and it's institution is just woefully man made errancy. I'm protestant but I don't identify as that, I identify as a disciple of Christ lead by scriptures. You've just replaced OT rules with institutional rules in catechism. The Bible is enough. Reference materials in support are fine but anything to be used in alignment aside scripture is essentially adding to scripture. If you can't get it out of scripture alone, it's man made.

I don't want to appear pedantic, but saying that the Christian is "saved by faith" is a personal pet peeve. The Christian is Saved by Grace through Faith. The Lutheran formulation is Justified by Faith alone. The revivalist formulation of Saved by Faith conflates Justification and Salvation, Salvation and going to Heaven, and a momentary conversion experience and Faith. You do get it right that if the Christian uses that poor formulation Faith should be interpreted as a Christian life. The C of E theologian William Law gave the same interpretation 250 years ago. However, the unbiblical nature of Saved by Faith, I feel, should be highlighted especially since it is used by the Sola Scriptura crowd.

There was a reason for the breakaway. protestant apologist seem more informed because most Catholics never read any of their own books and maybe misguided in these debates.

You raise some interesting points in sections and I found it informative and to an extent also comforting that some aspects seem not as unbiblical as I previously thought. However, in other parts and especially concerning the pope you are really grasping at straws completely. Peter was given a special role to establish the church but he was never elevated to some sort of King which you yourself stated quite clearly was never God’s ideal plan for man in any event. And you also conveniently forget how Paul corrected Peter - not something one would do to a king whose authority given by God is supposedly second to God Himself only…
