[Transcript] Hey! Check this out- an awesome, Deaf-friendly company, Uber.
I was just in NYC, on the bustling city streets, in need of a cab. I selected the Uber app on my phone, inputted the address for JFK airport. I received a notification from the Uber app that a car was on its way. And in real-time, I could see it coming closer to me on the map. Suddenly a photo of the driver popped up and I could see what he looked like- a man with a great beard. I look at drivers, scanning the street until I find him- that one! I point, hey! He stops. His face matches the picture perfectly.
I get in and sit back. No fumbling with pen and paper or struggling to communicate. He already has my destination address and off we go. All I have to do is buckle up and enjoy the ride, get out my phone and glide my friends and send them video text messages to pass the time, and several glide messages later, in no time at all, to my surprise, we were there. Wow, already? We exchanged goodbyes and off he went. No need to deal with the usual post-ride hassle: handing over my credit card, writing back and forth with pen and paper, figuring out the tip, etc. None of that. I didn’t have to deal with any of that. I walked away, and my Uber app sent me a notification with the total and charged my card automatically! And then asked me to rate the driver one to five stars. I clicked on 5 stars. Wow, champ- true-biz Deaf friendly, that! Bam.
